The hotel's location was superb, being in such close proximity to major departmental stores, with a train station just beside it & the famous Nishiki market within a 10 minute walk. The ambience of the hotel is calming and the architects' vision of creating a green, sustainable space is evident everywhere you look in Good Nature Hotel. The rain-shower and generous tub were a bonus! We paid a little extra for our room balcony which was worth it, as the spot overlooked the lovely plant trelis and garden, making it a relaxing outlet after a busy day touring Kyoto. An ice maker & water dispenser on every floor was really thoughtful as well. Despite the hotel being a little pricier than others, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely book Good Nature Hotel again on our returning trip!

Given that the hotel is big on sustainability, you may need to request for additional amenities such as ironing board and pay for items such as toothbrush, hairbrush or razor kits. All up, a tiny inconvenience in exchange for a memorable stay!

We are a family of 4 and travelled around Japan staying at several hotels. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at. Spacious, clean, new, and located in a great area. Staff were super friendly. Will be recommending this hotel to others. So glad we found it!

Breakfast was very nice and broad selections of food, drinks and coffee machines. Mr Conceirge was very friendly and assisted us. Also Mr Conceirge defused a mentally unstable american asian "gender not specified" who was causing a scene with his obsurd language as it wasn't happy with the number of tourists in Japan. Give Mr Conceirge an award, his exceptional english speaking skills and good manners makes him an asset to the hotel. Good Location with direct access to times square without going out in the open.

Sad visitors who can't handle being alone but complains about everything.

Again without knowing a city we landed on our feet booking the Good Nature Hotel, excellently located in a great part of Kyoto with a huge range of shops and restaurants within a short walk. The hotel was immaculate and really comfortable. Again we chose to include Breakfast to provide the option of both Western and Japanese breakfasts and the Good Nature did not dissappoint, with a huge range of options to choose from. Loved the hotel.

The only thing I would have liked was a view, but this should not put you off this hotel as in every other respect it was superb.

I liked the buffet breakfast, the ambiance of the hotel, the natural feel of it, the lights hanging over the courtyard, the balcony and the greenery. The beds were comfortable, and there were great blackout curtains. The hotel is also fairly new and very clean. The staff were outstanding. After we left, they called shortly after to tell me we’d left my daughter’s passport and my jewellery behind in the safe. We were catching the Shinkansen, so didn’t have time to return to collect the items, and were leaving the country two days later. The hotel staff kindly shipped the items, for a very small cost, and I had them delivered to our next hotel in Tokyo first thing the next day. Mind blown over this extraordinary service! So grateful to the staff of Good Nature Hotel Kyoto.

The breakfast got a bit busy, and like some other hotels we stayed at, we had to bring coupons down to get breakfast. These coupons are very easy to forget, making us go back to the room to collect them. I think bringing the room key, and for them to have some kind of system where they could scan the key to see if we had breakfast included, would be far better. But otherwise nothing I didn’t like.

Great location, very convenient accessing major sights like Gion, Nishiki Market. Friendly and helpful staff. Love the lemongrass scent in the lift lobby. Great heating - warm but unobtrusive. Great gym.

The room was a little dimly lit. Could have done with one or two more lamps.

This hotel is in an excellent location and moments from an underground train station, below the beautiful department store Takashimaya. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel has many restaurants and a small supermarket and it is beautiful. The cafe Rau is expensive but the cakes are amazing. We loved having a bath in the room, and the room itself had a lounge and was a good size.

We had two issues with the hotel. The first was not being able to make the room adequately darkened at night. There are no drapes in the rooms, only simple blinds which let a lot of light in. We visited in summer and were wakened by daylight streaming in before 5am. The second issue was the very limited breakfast. At best the breakfast is for both westenr and Asian cuisines. In a hotel of this price point and quality there should be far greater selections - ie not just corn flakes and a basic mixed granola for cereals, and one plain white bread option. There was no chef on duty to make eggs or omelets etc. For $32-40 per person for breakfast it is not worthwhile.

The location is excellent. Near several restaurants, shops and attractions. We got a free upgrade to a stunning suite so it felt more like a 5 star experience! The room was a penthouse! Thank you again :) Staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged luggage transfer for us seamlessly. The concierge recommended and helped book restaurants that felt like hidden gems. Breakfast isn’t wow but good if you need to head out early. It’s difficult to find breakfast restaurants before 11am.

The AC was a little finicky one of the days.

Close to the subway and bus stops. Shopping at your door. This hotel is great for vegetarians. My wife is a vegetarian and it is very difficult to find vegetarian options when out and about, so it was a relief for her to have quite a few options at the hotel. Our room was just big enough for 3 adults. Did like the small store at ground level. Breakfast was good as it is a mixture of western and Japanese.The staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our room was a little bit noisy as it was near the main street. Ask for a quiet room. Other than that it was a great stay.

This hotel was amazing, we loved the sustainable, modern but warm feel it had. It was beautifully designed and decorated, clean bamboo and green vibe. The location was ideal, close to subway (Kyoto Kawaramachi Station), buses (we took #7 city bus a lot), shopping and eating. A word of warning to North American folks booking for a number of guests and then hoping to add a member to their party last minute, really pay attention to your room details. Sometimes your room might only have twin beds with no couch so adding numbers is not always feasible.

The ceilings in the lobby and rooms seemed a bit low. As well, either the blinds don’t go up at all for natural light, or we just could not figure it out.
