A nice western-style hotel in Arashiyama, reachable by both the JR San-in and Randen train lines. The bamboo forest is just a short hike away and there are many restaurants in the area. The Japanese-style tatami room, public indoor bath and breakfast made for a great experience. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Luggage storage as well as booking a luggage courier service at the front desk both worked without a hitch. If you use the luggage courier service, make sure to ask the staff when is the deadline for bringing the luggage to the lobby. For us, it was at 10 am the day before requested delivery time. Note that there is a curfew after midnight.

Right beside the train station- down the road from the bridge. The big bath was relaxing and clean.

The floor mats were pretty hard. This was our first time using Japanese style beds- so this might just be how they are- Also- we wanted to eat at the hotel restaurant but were turned away because we didn’t make a reservation the day before. This was not a huge deal, 2 VERY good restaurants right across the street.

Love this hotel, second time staying here. Location is perfect, dinner and breakfast is great and staff is lovely!

There was a slight issue with the plumbing on the day of the checkout, no water would come out in the bathroom, and after a bit the water came but it was brown. These things happen, staff was super lovely and extended our checkout (even though we managed to check out in time) and got to use the onsen as a substitute even if it was closed.

Great location near one of the main stations in Arashiyama area. Close access to get to Tenryuuji temple and the bamboo forest. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a free spot for parking we were able to get access to use when there. Sometimes it can be full they said, but was not a problem for us. Japanese style bath was awesome.

The breakfast was not offered early and we had to check out at 630 which is our own issue but it would be nice if there was some kind of take out version of the breakfast or clearer message of the breakfast when adding it to the plan.

Very conveniently located hotel in Arashiyama, right next to the train station, and short walking distance to the main touristy street. The hotel restaurant had very good coffee. A lot of great restaurants and cafes, shopping and tourist attractions nearby. About a 15-20 min walk to Togetsukyo bridge and Arashiyama monkey park. One bonus was the traditional Japanese night wear that was freshly washed and put out for us.

We paid for breakfast when we booked, but when we checked in, we were told that they do not have any vegetarian options for breakfast. However, the front desk concierge was extremely polite and supremely apologetic.

The public bath was soooo nice to relax in after a long day of walking, and Tattoos are allowed, which is great for me. Clean, spacious and had all the amenities we needed. Room was spacious too. We had the Japanese style room with 2 Futon beds. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I wish we had an option for a bit more padding for the Futons. I love the Japanese style beds, but I'm not used to it, so I would have liked an extra padding or the option for it. Oh well. I'd stay here again anytime.

Lovely room, very good location. Close to lots of attractions. Made a lovely display on the bed with a sign and some towels for my husband for his birthday, which was a nice touch. Great with communication!

Wish the onsen was outdoors. Was very stuffy being inside. Step in the bathroom was quite steep and the restaurant did not cater for vegetarians.

I like that it has the atmospheric flavour of the 80s Japan feel - public bath, Wa-fuku/Yo-fuku rooms, restuarant/lounge/cafe all within the hotel. The location being right next to Saga-arashiyama station is a SUPER PLUS! Resting here also allows cheap 200-240 metro lines back into Kyoto so it's nice.

I think smoking rooms are attractive to business travelers in the past, but smoking is slowly becoming a negative part of traveling, so transitioning might be better for more bookings. There are many meeting rooms available but most of them were unused during my stay here, so if they can change one of them into a Gym or a Laundry room it would be better too. As a hotel, it has a curfew of midnight, which is not very good. The key system could be put into a locker box so that guests can manage their own keys instead of going through the front desk. I don't like the tourism tax placed on top of the cost of booking that was paid upon arrival - 400/person/night.

Loved this hotel for a second time. Access from JR Saga Arashiyama station could not be easier! A perfect choice to enable an early stroll along the bamboo path. The breakfast is a very novel experience: with an English brochure and help at hand, guests make their own tofu at their table. The small cafe is also very convenient for lunch. Nearby Randen line gives access to many other iconic places in north-west Kyoto.

Nothing!

Very comfortable and well equipped room. Right beside the rail line but with very good double glazed windows we hardly heard the trains. Pleasant and helpful staff and a short walk from Arashiyama attractions.
