Excellent breakfast options with both Japanese and Western choices, and a wide variety of dining options available throughout the day, including a lobby café, Chinese, Japanese, and Western cuisine. The staff are professional and efficient, and the location feels exclusive and well-situated.

The Wi-Fi is generally strong when it’s working, but the connection can occasionally be unstable—possibly due to the building’s materials and structure.

My room was large with a very big shower and tub area and full size soaking tub. Everything was updated and the mattress was very comfortable. The room had everything I needed, including a small fridge and a handy in-room safety box. Breakfast was included with my room and I could choose between the excellent Japanese breakfast in the Japanese restaurant overlooking a garden, or opt for the Western-style buffet which featured made to order eggs and omelets and a wide array of delicious options. I liked the location near the Gosho Imperial Palace and the Marutamachi subway station. When I was feeling lazy I took the free shuttle to Oike/Karasuma, where I could catch two different subways (east-west and north-south). The open atrium in the center featured a coffee shop/bar and was a pleasant place to chat with friends. I used to live in Kyoto and this is one of my favorite parts of town, very convenient yet quiet. I can speak Japanese, but was glad that the front desk staff included some very good English speakers. I found the staff at this hotel very friendly and professional throughout the property. After staying for one week, I found it very hard to leave. I will definitely be back.

Beautiful and spacious building with rooms arranged a central atrium, which gives it an airy, uncrowded atmosphere - unlike many other Japanese hotels. Rooms are spacious & well furnished. Staff are friendly & helpful. Location is excellent to visit the imperial palace.

Aside from the imperial palace, it is quite distanced from other attractions, requiring taxi rides or a ca. 1km walk to the nearest subway station & bus stop, Imedegawa station. The hotel restaurants are quite busy, especially during peak tourist seasons, thus advance reservation is recommended.

Such a brilliant hotel, so glad we opted for this. The standard and service of this hotel was amazing. Excellent and spacious rooms with everything you need, breakfast had a wonderful selection of vegetarian options and plenty of fruit and small yogurt pots. The staff are very friendly and professional and really made us feel at home. We also took advantage of their madsage service which was just wonderful and all done in our room. The hotel itself is spacious, clean and grand. Please note that this hotel has a frequent shuttle to one of the metro stations, which was handy when we checked out.

Hotel Brighton Kyoto offers a comfortable and spacious stay, with rooms that are surprisingly large, the biggest I experienced on my Japan trip. The staff is attentive and efficient, always ready to assist, and they provide newspapers every morning, which is a rare and thoughtful touch nowadays.

The hotel’s location can be a bit tricky. It’s about a 10-minute walk from Imadegawa Station, but the area can be confusing to navigate, especially at night when the streets are dark and quiet. While the hotel provides a shuttle bus every 20 minutes, it stops outside Exit 2 of Karasuma Oike, and I wasn’t informed of this. As a result, I had some difficulty finding my way back during the first two days, relying on Google Maps from Imadegawa Station. The other minor thing is the pillows are too hard for me.

This is my second time staying at Kyoto Brighton Hotel, and the experience was even better than the first time. They have demonstrated the best Omitenashi (Japanese for hospitality ) as it can be. And the secret I think is being able to pay attention to every detail. Starting from checking in, they gave me very detailed introduction to the facilities, then accompanied me to my room. Knowing I was a single female traveler, they gave me a quiet single room tucked away in the corner of the floor. All the staff were paying attention to the customers, and were endeavored to help. I was greeted with big smiley face everyday. The room was very clean, and had a nice enclosure for dining. The amenities were plenty yet they were able to pay attention to environmental friendliness. The breakfast was excellent, I love the curry rice, fresh Kyoto vegetables, and fluffy fried egg. The Japanese restaurant Hotaru also provided authentic seasonal Kaiseki. The hotel location is next to Kyoto Gosho, where the emperor used to live, good for morning walks. Although it is a little far off major shopping districts and tourist spots, I personally felt that is great. After all, the true Kyoto is spiritual and tranquil, you need to be away to immerse the experience. There is a 7-11 round the corner where you can buy everything needed. I highly recommend this hotel for a welcoming stay in Kyoto and hope to go back very soon.

Brighton Hotel is impressively spacious, offering plenty of room to relax and enjoy your stay. Our room was exceptionally large and comfortably accommodated all four of us. The customer service was excellent from start to finish—from the train shuttle to check-out, every interaction was smooth and professional. Room service was impressively fast; we barely had to wait after placing a request. A special shoutout to all the hardworking front ladies who helped with carrying our luggages & assisting in check-in —they were all efficient, friendly, and truly went above and beyond. Hats off to them!

Expensive breakfast ;)

A true 5 star property with great ambience, fabulous reception area and facade. Staff is very helpful and polite. Rooms are very spacious including the toilets and well laid out. Good amenities in the room. Would stay again if visiting Kyoto. We good the rooms at great price during the peak cherry blossom season. Getting a room with window opening to a large full bloom cherry tree was a bonus. Imperial Gardens is just 8 mins walk. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

If you are considering taking subways that It is not near to a subway station - however does not matter if you are taking taxis and anyways is a very minor point compared to several positives.

Kyoto Brighton completely exceeded my expectations in every way. I was so impressed by the thoughtfulness and detail in the room -- brand new coffee machine, great tasting coffee (from a pod, no less), state of the art bidet, comfortable bed and pillows, separate shower and toilet area, warm and cozy lighting, just everything. The hotel is also located in a quiet neighborhood away from tourist attractions, which was exactly what I wanted, though I can understand if others feel that that would be slightly inconvenient. Our Japanese breakfast each morning was delicious and prepared with such care, and the other restaurants in the hotel were also very good. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Nothing.

The room was very spacious, clean and luxurious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The western breakfast was fabulous; there were so many options. I really enjoyed my stay at the Kyoto Brighton Hotel. It was a short walk to the subway that I took to the conference center every day too.

The breakfast was a bit expensive, and one of my colleagues also staying at the hotel somehow got free breakfast vouchers, but I did not. I'm not sure how I missed out on that.
