We stayed in the Japanese style room, which gives a nice authentic ryokan feeling. The room and futons were really nice and comfortable. The guesthouse was very clean and the staff very friendly and accommodating!

You can hear everything going on in the building, sadly the above residents were very loud with stomping and sliding doors keeping us awake at night.

Delightful spot. Modest, immaculate. Great heating. very atmospheric. Great authentic sleep on the floor, aka tatami mat experience. Affordable! Don't overpack as you will be climbing narrow stairway. We were on 3rd floor. Shared bath and shower no problem at all. Easy to find. Near two metros. Quiet, scenic side street. Near shopping and food. Very DIY. No set reception. Let yourself in by code. Great option!

Little chairs on ground so we could sit with backs propped to read and plan would be nice addition. We brough our own coffee to make but not easy into tea cups. No communal kitchen due to fact it is very small space.

Rooms look like it does in the photos and there is a good amount of space. It is very and beds are comfortable the showers + toilets were great and cleaned regularly. The highlight for us was the location - the street the guesthouse is on has lots of great food options as well as coffee and we had a great time exploring the neighbourhood. It is also very close to a train station which made exploring Kyoto easy. The guesthouse is not often staffed but reply to messages quickly. We would stay here gain.

It was so difficult to lock the doors of the rooms. The only way to do it was to slam the door very hard and loudly which was not good late at night when there are other people trying to sleep. The other people on our floor also had trouble with this. We would recommend fixing the doors so that they are easier to lock. Other than that everything was great.

The location was great! It’s at Shin-Omiya Station which is very accessible and has multiple bus stops nearby that can bring you to the popular tourist attractions like Kiyomizu-dera and Kinkakuji Temple. The amenities were all very clean and comfortable to use. The room was also very spacious - more than enough space for 2 people.

Not a dislike but the walls are thin and I could hear the neighbour snoring at night. The stairs are also a bit steep, making it hard if you have a large luggage.

The location was amazing, with just a 5-minute walk to the nearest Hankyu station, Randen station, bus stop, and conbini (multiple). There are a lot of restaurants and supermarkets that are open for 24 hours within walking distance. The stairs are a bit too narrow even though the staff offered to help us with taking our luggage. The bathroom was always clean, and we didn't have to wait at all. There was a mini fridge and water kettle provided. The rooms were really pretty and aesthetic.

Would have loved to have a microwave facility to reheat food.

the staff are very kind people, the place was just a tiny bit outdated but sparkly clean and super typical. Quality price ratio unmatched also considering the position. 5 min walk to station and bus stop. 20/25 min walking from the center. the Bathroom and the small essential kitchenette are full of amenities (For your information, we had our own pijama and toothbrush so it wasn't a problem, but unlikely from other Japanese accomodations, they aren't provided here)

A bit outdated, especially door and windows but nothing major.

Amazing stay! We love the experiences of Japanese style room. Staff was super friendly. Easy communication with host. We were allowed to leave travel bags before check-in, so we did not have to carry them around while visiting the area. The whole guesthouse was super clean! Location is also very good, easy to get to public transport, and easy to get to markets of several restaurants. Highly recommended!

Location though we had to take a bus to get there.

I didn't like that I made the reservation for two families. I paid in cash upon arrival for both.i am female. However, the front desk staff member insisted on dealing only with the male head of the other family I made the reservation for. She wanted only HIS passport and HIS signature. She made that clear. I was offended but looked beyond it. I didn't want to make our two families feel uncomfortable.

The apartment was really spacious and clean. Loved the light coming in from the windows in the morning. The air-conditioning worked super well and the beds were very comfortable. Good toilet/bathroom with shampoo and conditioner. Got a fridge and a freezer too. Location was quite good as well, close to bus station that connected to many places and railway station to Arashiyama. Kawaramachi wasn't too far away, could walk the distance too.

No washing machine in the room and couldn't find a shared one (tho our bad for not asking about it, seems like there should have been one). Also if you are a light sleeper the noise/light from the hallway might bother you (automatic lights when someone walks by, pretty bright through the door) but for us wasn't a problem, we slept well.

Spaciousssss It is much larger than my expectation. The owners are Taiwanese who speak Mandarin and English and they are not often there so you need to contact in advance to inform them your arrival time. Great location. Just 3m walk to bus stops, train stations and 15m by bus to Gion, Nishiki market and other tourist spots.

No elevator and the stairs are quite steep and narrow. So keep that in mind if you have oversized luggage
