The location was nice since it’s super close to the train station. Walking distance from the mall. The room was spacious, beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very nicely put together but we are not used to eating sushi and beef for breakfast, so we didn’t love that part unfortunately. The hotel has its own onsen which was nice. We could use it from 8pm to 10 am next day. They provide free sake of different flavors from 3 pm to midnight which was also super nice. There was also free ice cream that I believe you could grab starting from the time you check in until check out. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Location was very convenient for myself and 3 children. Clean, spacious enough for our needs, comfortable. Really appreciated and enjoyed the onsen availability and use. I wish we had stayed longer! I left my phone charger and the staff was very responsive and helpful in figuring out how to get it back (to Tokyo). The delivery system is mostly in Japanese so it was difficult for me to translate. I had to ask someone for help to fill out the appropriate forms but this is an entirely separate business from the hotel.

This hotel is in a great location walking distance to bus stop and train stations. It was clean and a good manageable size for a family of four (2 adults and 2 teens) but some may think it is too small. The bathroom has a good size shower stall with shower head which my understanding is not standard in Japan. Staff is friendly and speak fluent English. Convenient stores are nearby which was great for getting snacks and drinks for the family. They have free stuff like sake, ice cream popsicles and make your own bookmark, which I thought it was nice. They sell some items on the lobby and we bought umbrellas for a rainy day. I recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We had 2 single beds and 3 futon mattresses but it would have been nice to have 4 futon mattress (2 for each of my kids) because they're very thin. There is a laundry room on the 6th floor with 3 very small washer/dryer machines. One was broken and the second one was locked because someone left their clothes inside overnight and didn't bother to pick them up early in the morning either. I was only able to wash a very small load which took over 4 hours to wash and dry, so if you want to use the washer, plan accordingly. Other than these minor things, we had a very pleasant stay of 3 nights in Kyoto.

There is free sake in the lobby (3pm-12am) - like 8 kinds. There is also a freezer outside the onsen with free milk popsicles and mango popsicles. The room also comes with free matcha + matcha whisk + matcha bowls. The men’s bath is the rectangle pictured above. The women’s bath is a square against the wall. The shower head in the onsen has a single stream, triple stream and mist mode. There is a 7-11 a few doors down and a Family Mart across the street. The family room also had a microwave and hot water boiler.

I wish the staff secured the luggage stored with them more securely. They’re just sitting in front of the counter with no ropes or belts to protect them from theft.

The location of the hotel is excellent—right next to major transit. The place is very clean, and they even offer free ice cream and sake sampling in the lobby, which was a nice touch! When we checked in, there was a small issue with the lock on our room, but the staff handled it quickly and professionally. They upgraded us to a different room right away. We really enjoyed our stay here. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for families. The room was spacious, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. One staff member even helped us make a phone call in Japanese and translated for us—amazing service! Big thumbs up to the team. We’ll definitely be back in the future!

Everything was great. Lovely staff. Lots of nice extras like Sake and lollypop ( something for all the family). Direct train to Arashiyama nearby. Close to train station and conveniently located to visit Kyoto. Easy bus ride to get to Nijo castle ( for night time illuminations). Onsen ( like a big hot bath and lots of showers, but fancy) but really great after lots of walking. A lovely bonus and had very long opening hours for guests to enjoy. Slippers and gowns provided. Conpact room for a family. We had to put 2 beds away in the morning to keep the room comfortable .

Village Kyoto exceeded our expectations. The room was large and comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel had several amenities we hadn't even realized! These included sake tasting every night (with a rotating selection of sake), a bookmark-making station, and an ice cream freezer, where you could help yourself. The location was also very convenient. It was only a 5-minute walk to the subway station and pretty centrally located (just a couple of stops from Kyoto Station). There were also convenience stores, plenty of restaurants, and a supermarket all within a 5-minute walk. The onsen was lovely and relaxing.

There was very little we didn't like. There was no view from our room (it faced a wall), but we were not really in the room during the day anyway.

Love the traditional Japanese experience our family was able to get from the bed accommodations, to the Japanese bath, the free saki available in the lobby, the pjs and kimonos in the room and bento breakfast. Nespresso coffee and matcha in the room was a nice touch after a busy day. Location was excellent and convenient to the train stations. The staff very friendly and helpful. They were gracious to help us with some arrangements needed for a bike rental and follow up with us to see if we got the supplies needed.

The room may show a bit of age but did not impact the stay in anyway. So many of the other amenities made up for this and loved one big room for the family.

We stayed here for 6 nights. Room was fantastic with plenty of room for 4 people and luggage. Great location close to train station with an easy commute to most areas in Kyoto. Short taxi ride to Kyoto station (approx 1,500 yen). 7 eleven and Family Mart close by. Staff were helpful when asking for assistance. On the day we left I asked if they could call a taxi for us and they ending up going out to the street and hailing a taxi for us (something I didn't expect them to do).
