New, clean, comfortable.

I could not find my room key card. They charged me 2000 yen for it. Given I paid 950 euros for one night, I thought its utterly stupid and disrespectful to charge 15 euros for a key card. Total lack of judgement.

Staff enthusiasm and professionalism. Clean and modern room, but the stairs up and down for toilet, shower and plunge tub was a bit too much for people in their golden years. The drinks in the mini fridge as complimentary was nice; and the late after dinner snack of egg sandwich was very good.

The stairs up and down. The plunge pool was too small for 2 persons. The dinner meal was creative with 10 courses but 9 of them centered around wagyu beef, which was way too much beef. Didn't like eating raw beef sashimi in 2 of the courses. Liked to see more fresh local fish, seafood, and or vegetables.

The breakfast was great and authentic. Definitely just enough and not too much food.

It was a bit removed from other parts of the city by foot. It took some initial navigation to get used to transportation to and from the bus station, but figured it out.

The facilities and hospitality are excellent. The Ochazuke breakfast was delightful and the restaurant itself is beautifully fitted out. We were in a private dining space since we were 5 people and it was absolutely divine looking. The staff were extremely helpful but wonderfully discreet in appearing only as required. The food was exquisite and almost too beautiful looking to eat. It was a visual delight for the senses. The bedrooms are well fitted out and very comfortable. The pyjamas are soft and beautiful and having one's own hot tub was luxurious and relaxing. The lounge is excellent with free flowing wine and sake for a few hours each evening. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. We enjoyed the tea blending session in the lounge in the evening. We didn't have time to book in for a kimono tying class but we would love to do it when we return next time. The lack of space to open out suitcases in the rooms, especially if 3 people are in one accommodation. It would have been nice to have some more savoury snacks in the lounge for those of us who don't like sugar. It is a small lounge so it can get overcrowded in the evening. Clearing up used glasses and plates more frequently would have been good too.

The greeting and initial tea with intro to the location and amenities was really great. The dinner and breakfast were very very good. Dinner was exceptional in fact. The private bath outside the room was really fun and nice to have. The beds were great. The staff was amazing.

It was a little too expensive in my opinion for one night stay. But, it was such a memory maker, that I am glad we did it anyway. Everything about it was memorable, and I would do it again (even though it was expensive). And, lodging is expensive everywhere around there, so it's the norm. And you get more by paying more at this spot.

The hotel is a haven in the middle of Kyoto. The staff was extremely friendly (special mention for a charming Japanese young lady who had studied in Spain, and having learned that one of our sons liked Real Madrid, went our of her way to print tickets, the typical fan song, etc and deliver it to his room the next day), all perfectly fluent in English. The breakfast was delicious (choice between Japanese or Western-style), served in a private room for our family. The rooms come look like traditional ryokan but with modern equipment, including private outside hot baths, shower, etc. Definitely recommend!

Breakfast was very good and location was also good. Room was very comfortable and outdoor bath was outstanding.

Check-in was a bit awkward. We left our bags because our room wasn't ready and went off to explore. When we return much later and very tired, we were told the bags were in our room. We found 3 of our 5 bags in the entry room. I went back to the front desk to inquire about our other 2 bags and waited quite a long time for the previous shift to be contacted. It turns out the other 2 bags were in our room, but placed around the corner in a little cubby.

This was by far the best stay that we have ever had. The service was exceptional and personal. We were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday and they left us a beautiful note and flower pedals on the bed. The next day they gave us a personal letter and a map of the city with destinations and historical photos. It was all personalized. I think the hotel staff stayed late to make this for us. Then at breakfast we had a blast with the traditional Japanese meal. They showered us with more cards and gifts and made us feel like royalty. This was an amazing experience.

The location was away from major attractions and town, but I liked the quiet location. It was close to public bus transit, and a few blocks walk to nearby train station. The staff was excellent, provided wonderful experiences for us and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was beautiful, clean and the bathroom-onsen combo was Ahhmazing. Overall-loved this Ryokan-will definitely recommend!

The only I would recommend to those contemplating this Ryokan, if you or your travel companion have difficulty with stairs-keep in mind that the sleeping room is located upstairs and is very narrow.

The setting for Breakfast was superb as was the food and service. The Lounge facility for the evenings is also excellent though a few more savoury snacks would have been welcome. The staff are all extremely helpful and polite. The hot tub in each room is an amazing inclusion as are the soft pyjamas. The aesthetic of the entire room is superb. The water in the hot tub did not maintain its temperature.
