The hotel is located a short walk away from both the Matsuyama Station (+/- 15 minutes) and the Matsuyama City Station (5 minutes), and if you don’t feel like walking, a number of tramway lines are available. The city’s main attractions (castle) are not far away, either. As are multiple food options. The hotel is new and clean, provides free breakfast, the staff speaks English and is helpful. The room is quite spacious and includes all the necessary amenities (fridge, electric kettle, tv set).

The hotel seems to cater to families, so there are a lot of children running around and it gets noisy. In order to get to breakfast, you need to decide a day in advance what time you want to come by the breakfast room. The AC in my room was difficult to adjust.

Stayed in their twin room - very large for Japanese standards, definitely worth the small surcharge compared to their small double room. Convenient room design. The twin room had the additional advantage that it was at the end of the corridor, and had one window facing the wall of another nearby building, and another window facing a wider area with parking lots and houses, which made a nicer view. It was quiet in the room. It was possible to open the window of the room. Their standard breakfast has some good options, not fantastic, but good enough. The breakfast staff is very polite and enthusiastically repeats Japanese expressions signifying respect and courtesy. Convenient location to reach many sights in Matsuyama but also drive out of the city with a rental car to explore the surroundings.

Staff at the reception speaks almost no English and several members do not act politely, quite untypical for Japan. For example, the staff in the Comfort Hotel Takamatsu is much more friendly and polite. Housekeeping did not vacuum the floor in our room until we explicitly asked for it at the reception, where we were told it should have been done as part of the daily standard cleaning routine. Parking is indeed not straightforward to understand and it does not help that the staff speaks almost no English. But with Google Translate and a document they provided and some additional web search, we could in the end understand how the parking system works in Japan.

The location was excellent, within an easy walk of attractions, and with superb access to public transit. The rooms, were large, comfortable, and clean. The free breakfast, lounge, and bikes were also great benefits. Everything is a step above what one might expect for a hotel of its style and value.

The breakfast and coffee provided on site were merely ok and the choice wasn't extensive, but they were also free and perfectly adequate - not a complaint at all, merely a tempering of expectations. The pillows might be a little hard for some people's taste, but they were very generous about providing extras from the open storage on the second floor. These are nitpicks, not actual complaints about the stay.

The accommodation was exceptional value for money. The breakfast area open for a cuppa or cold lemon drink during the day or to read was such an attribute. Breakfast included in price and had plenty of choices. Room layout and size was good. Washing machines had your own code to retrieve when finished. Location was close to Trains,trams,castle,park,eating places shopping complex. Immaculately clean. Highly recommend this place.

A bit of a walk to the main shopping district (~10-15min) but for the price it was still pretty manageable. Convenience store is just a few units down the road. Relatively spacious for Japan standards and very clean. Liked that you can self-service to more pillows and other amenities (including air purifier machines) in the laundry room too.

The hotel only had 3 washer+dryer machines for laundry which can be pretty tough for a 12 storey hotel. Granted the TV in the room allows you to check the congestion status but it’s not terribly helpful if your laundry window is narrow when traveling. It would be good if they could separate the washing and drying to stagger the usage.

The hotel is about a km from the train station, a pleasant walk on paved path. It’s surrounded by lots of eateries. It’s closed to Matsuyama City Station where there are more food choices (basement) & Takashiyama. Breakfast are basic Japanese choices, which was fine for us. The room was comfortable, the twin beds were large. We like the conviviality of Comfort Hotels’ little Bookshop Cafe, providing free drinks and a spot to chill out. Extra pillows, iron or shower caps are available on requests. Check in & out through automated machines (which we found to be the case in most Japanese hotels, perhaps a legacy of the COVID period), was easy.

Perhaps more hooks on the wall? Surprisingly, the headboard was a little dusty..

Good location next to Matsuyama Castle and the park. 12 mins walk to the main train station and parking is conveniently located behind the hotel. Healthy juice offered at breakfast. Having the pyjamas for guests as well as allowing the breakfast room to be used throughout the day by guests as a rest and eating area is nice.

Other than the fresh juice, breakfast offering is simpler than other Japanese hotel of similar category.

The room was very comfortable, staff very pleasant and breakfast a bonus for the price of the accommodation. Nice having drinks available all day and a pity I didn't have a chance to use the library. Very convenient for visiting the castle.

A bit further from the railway station than is our preference but worth the walk.

Location was great! Perfect for going to the castle and the street car stop is very close for the Dogo onsen. The breakfast was varied and had good western options (yogurt/granola, smoothies, cereal, fruit, waffles) as well as Japanese foods. The bed was comfortable and room was clean.

Everything was great! We only stayed for one night.

Clean, spacious property, with modern bathroom/shower facilities, bedding and television. Lots of space to work on the desk in the room, and reorganize bags. Staff were very friendly and accessible. Free breakfast was excellent, lots of options (and they had a lacto-vegetarian option one morning which was neat). Super conveniently located to Matsuyama City train station; this is not a JR station but there is a streetcar station 3 minutes walking, which can connect you to Matsuyama JR. Very pleased with my stay.

WiFi was really unreliable... Connectivity to the wireless access point was fine, but the actual networking was awful. Lots of lost packets, disconnections from online services like chatrooms or video services, speed was totally fluctuating from fast to super slow. Staff provided an external wireless router which helped, but packet loss and other such problems were still present enough to make it unsatisfactory.
