"Hotel Trend" is a budget hotel set away from the centre of Nagano but meets all that is needed for a night in Nagano. Rooms were a little tired and simple, but comfortable and clean. Staff were outstanding and so eager to answer questions and assist. Taxi's prompt on request and it was only a short drive to the station. One of the up sides of staying out of the centre of Nagano was that we walked up the street to a local family restaurant, "Soba Ichibo" and had we not been out of the centre of Nagano we would have missed this fabulous meal, the charming hosts and the authenticity of this family restaurant. On departure we even met the owners husband who was preparing buckwheat noodles! Hotel Trend was very welcoming, totally all we needed for a sleep after visiting the snow monkeys and with "Soba Ichibo" so close by it was a memorable stay. Thank you to the staff for their efficiency and kindness.

As a budget hotel this establishment met expectations. It is a simple low cost hotel and you do need a taxi to get there from the station.

I don’t know if it was Booking.com, the hotel or my reading of the fine print but I was under the impression that parking and breakfast are included. The breakfast wasn’t included and free parking is first come first serve. Luckily, I got a parking space. So, what I thought was a good value wasn’t so good. Otherwise, it was a little shabby but very clean with very friendly staff.

It's located in a quiet area near Gondo station. There's a 711 nearby and you can also borrow a bicycle from the hotel, just tell the front desk officer.

The hotel is old and the rooms didn't look very clean. No worries though, it didn't smell bad. If you don't mind staying in an old hotel for a few nights, then this is a good deal. There's no breakfast though. Another thing I didn't like much was that it's a little far from Nagano station. Take the Guguringo bus or Bus #51 to get to Gondo station and you'll walk about 12 mins from there. Its location is a little far from the center so for those who have the budget, there are better choices near Nagano station and it's also where the restaurants are easy to find.
