A very interesting setup... In the front, it's a GROOVY bar/restaurant, complete with a pool table and lots of coffee table books! In the back, there's a communal kitchen/bathroom and 4 "cubbyhole" sleeping spaces to each room... My room felt a bit cramped and was without windows, but that didn't bother me at all; I was there to sleep. The sleeping space was big enough for me and the room was warm and comfortable through the night. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the station, with shops and convenience stores along the way. I felt it was a tad pricey for the sleeping space...

Finally, a proper backpackers hostel in Japan! I don't understand some of the previous negative comments. The host is a super sweet guy, and I found the bed really comfy and private, despite being in a dorm. I felt I had my own space with minimal noise disturbance. All the guests were really cool, the showers were fine, and great to have a kitchen. The location is excellent -- walking distance to the station and temple, the bus stop is also very close.

The kitchen could be better equipped.

Very friendly owner who gave tips on sightseeing in Nagano. I was here a week before the december holidays, and he also explained how christmas and new year are celebrated in Japan, and gave me pointers where to continue my vacation during the holidays. Also, the beds were very confortable with warm blankets and the heat in the dorms was turned on every night, which was very nice considering the tempuratures in Nagano in december.

At first sight the facilities looked very basic, but they were all very functional and in good condition. There is also a common kitchen that you can use.

Great central location just down the hill from Zenkoji Temple, and there is a great bakery just next door! Very cool decor, and the bar lounge area is really confortable and welcoming.

Likely just out of season (Late November), but we hoped there would have been more people staying there at the same time as us, we really like to share in a hostel culture with other people and the site would be extraordinary for hanging out and making new friends in.

The location was good, not too far away from the centre and price was good.

The showers weren't in the best kept state and it was quite run down- my curtain on my bed was completely broke and everything was just a little shabby. However, if you're looking for a cheap, no thrills stay its a good place to consider.

Cosy and atmospheric traditional Japanese guesthouse in a very accessible area in Nagano. Fantastically helpful and polite staff, nice common living room. Beds and general facilities were very clean. Friendly people

I love the fact that the building is mostly built by the owner himself, with lots of the furniture being imported from countries around the world. The place also felt really cozy!

Love this spot, really great location, has a lot of character. 12 PM CHECK OUT HELL YEAH!

The dorms can look a bit rough for some but I found it cozy. No issues.

That guesthouse is just fantastic. Great city, great bar but especially great staff and people coming there. Food was delicious, I still have craving for it haha. I havent tried the sauna, but I heard it’s the best ;)

Quirky design. Nice location. Good staff.

Was very dark and broody. Maybe because of low season. Kitchen wasn’t the best equipped.
