The suite we booked was spacious, to say the least. Beautiful wooden floors and stunning wooden beamed ceilings. The bed was ginormous. But incredibly comfortable. The TV was the width of the bed and it has plenty of movies and shows on it to watch. Complimentary mini-bar. Yes please! I thought it was a trick but nope. Complimentary. And refilled after each day. Great location too. Nagano Station only 10 mins away or 20 mins walk. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Not as many tourists, which was nice, and you got to practice your broken Japanese a bit more here.

We didn't stay longer... We only did 2 nights. But would have liked an extra night or 2 to explore further.

The hotel was very pretty, location is very good - near to many restaurants cafes and the Zenkoji. Rooms are very spacious in Japanese standards. Breakfast was delicious and the staff so friendly and helpful. Toiletries in the bathroom are top grade too

Selections in the washoku breakfast can be changed /of greater variety. They were tasty but after staying 3 nights, it was getting a bit boring to the tastebuds

Breakfast and dinner (when I chose to dine in) was very good. I had a room with a view and appreciated the fact that I could open the windows to let in fresh air. While good service is expected in Japan, nevertheless I thought the staff at reception exceptionally considerate and attentive.

Maybe hot water could be provided at the self-service counter for people who might bring their own tea (especially herb tea)? Also, maybe because I was at the top floor, but the water temperature wasn't consistent (my shower ran hot and cold).

Great location close to everything, shopping, the train station and the temple. Easy to walk to everything.

The only negative was the bed was not so comfortable. We had travelled from Australia a long flight but overall it was very good. We were meeting family and travelling onto Nozawa for a family holiday. Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, very clean and quiet. We would certainly stay there again.

The rooms have such a lovely atmosphere! It's old but classy! I enjoyed the vibe at least for the main building! The staff were really professional and kind!

I booked a non smoker room but because of being an older place there is a faint smell of cigarettes, nothing too bad but something to keep in mind

The Hotel is great, Clean very well managed with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are great and spacious. Very comfortable stay. Near to amenities like 7 eleven and restaurant.

Location....Not near the train station. Not near bus stop. It was New Year Day and no public bus operating... I had to walk to the train station.

The staff were like big hotel trained people. You can tell right away without knowing, it is a historical and special hotel. They gave us grade up room may be because of off season. Breakfast "restaurant" and présentation (Japanese breakfast) was so beautiful. Glad chose breakfast stay.

I really love their Japanese dinner and breakfast menu.

Not much options for dessert especially fruits. I would love to see more salads and vegetables as sides on the menu. Their room could do with some minor face lift eg. New carpets and table lamps.

Parking. Location.

We couldve fit on one room with the two kids.. but the booking app wasnt allowing us to reserve just one as it was giving error. We ended up just wasting money for the extra room that we didnt use at all.

The breakfast was delicious, I chose the Japanese style breakfast. The dining area had a beautiful garden. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The checkout was at 12 PM which gave us enough time to relax in the morning.

The sheets and decorations seemed a bit dated, but it is a historical hotel so it's understandable. The shower head had a leak and squirted water everywhere while it was running.
