We absolutely loved our stay at Yukinohana in Yuzawa! This hotel beautifully blends traditional Japanese culture with modern comforts, creating a truly memorable experience. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It was the thoughtful little details throughout the hotel that really stood out — things like reading glasses at the front desk for guests who forgot theirs, complimentary ice creams, cozy Japanese lounge wear, traditional Japanese coffee drip setups in the rooms, and so much more. Every touch added to the feeling of true hospitality. One of our favorite parts was relaxing in the onsen pools after long days of skiing — it was pure bliss. The hotel's location is also fantastic, set in a charming little village that offered just the right mix of convenience and local atmosphere. Plus, the easy access to the bullet train made getting there and exploring the area incredibly smooth. We would absolutely come back to Yukinohana and can't recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for an authentic yet modern Japanese experience in Yuzawa!

First of all the staff is very friendly. It’s a nice new hotel, well decorated, with tatami mats around the property. So you can just wear socks (even provided). The onsen facilities are very nice. Which for us the main reason to visit the hotel. It’s nice that at certain time of day they provide free snacks or even ramen in the evening.

Wow! What an amazing experience, this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! Convenient location right next to the train station and a short walk to the chair lift, makes this hotel an ideal location for a short ski trip from Tokyo. The rooms were large, modern and spacious with lovely traditional details throughout, and great views across the mountains. The Onsen was beautiful and the whole hotel was very clean and exceptionally maintained. After finishing in the Onsen, the complimentary ice cream was a lovely added bonus. Would recommend to anyone visiting Japan for a luxury stay for a short weekend skiing!

Family of 4 pax with 2 children age 5&7. We love our stay very much! Hotel is really near train station, theres free shuttle service too. Hotel is really clean, every guests are required to take off shoes and they even cleaned our luggage wheels upon entering, i love the concept. However the area for us to wear shoes is small hence it can be quite of a hassle when it is crowded. There’s free yukata rental, free drinks at the lobby, popsicle and ramen (within specific time). Hotel has everything we need and we had a great time relaxing. Our room is really spacious with a traditional bath tub my kids enjoyed alot. Kids also have their own separate room to sleep, love this privacy. We went for public bath, private bath, it such a great place to unwind after a day of snow play. The breakfast and dinner kaiseiki spread were sumptuous. It was an excellent stay and we highly recommend anyone to try it! Do remember to book in advance!

Although the hotel is located close to the station, my wife walks with a cane and has some difficulty getting around. The hotel provides shuttle service to and from the station. The staff were also very friendly and attentive. The kaiseki dinner and the morning breakfast had a wide selection and the staff were well orchestrated in serving the guests. Due to the number of guests, we had to choose dinner service at 5:30:or 8:30. The onsen facility was nice and relaxing.

The only thing that presented a problem for us was that the king size bed (although quite comfortable) was on a low platform which made it difficult to stand up, especially for elderly couples such as us.

Absolutely loved our stay here! We came during the snow season and there were free shuttles to and back from the slopes right next to the ryokan. Inside the ryokan, there are 3 private onsens so the wait wasn’t long at all - we managed to try all 3 private onsens during our stay. The ryokan also provided free yakult, desserts and ramen at different times of the day. We also had free yukata rentals that we could wear in the lounge area and to the onsens. The ryokan also has a bar inside!

Nothing - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

I stayed at the hotel for the Fuji Rock Festival. Their location is just a few minutes' walk from Echigo Yuzawa, where you arrive from Tokyo and get on the shuttle for the festival to Naeba. The room is beautiful and very spacious, also super clean. There was free coffee, tea, and even free Yakult and ramen at certain hours. The hotel also had an onsen, which I was not able to take advantage of for this trip. Will definitely book here again if I'm heading back to the festival in the next years, even with the price.

This was expected, but pricing was quite high because of the festival. Although all hotels around the area increased their prices.

I liked the tatami-style room and the design of the mini bar. The mini bar is a very unique facility that was provided in the standard double room and the family room, allowing us to make our morning breakfast and coffee without the need to run into the toilet for fresh water constantly.

The standard double room was on the smaller side and the lack of a dehumidifying/drying facility posed some challenges to us when we had a very wet snow day. Our clothes didn't completely dry in the night.

Yukinohana is a really nice Ryokan. It has some yukata that you can wear around the hotel, and also has 3 nice private onsen that you don't need to pay extra for or book in advance, so if you have tattoos, you can still bathe! It also has really clean, comfy rooms, and some free ice cream in the afternoons, plus free half-sized ramen in the evenings! It also has a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. My friend and I spent our entire stay in the hotel, other than briefly going out for dinner.

A cosy comfortable hotel in a ski town (though I was not there for winter sports). Easy access, since it was a short walk down the main road from JR Shinkansen Echigo-Yuzawa Station. While a modern hotel, and Japanese in style, it reminded me of Meiji period architecture where western elements were combined with traditional Japanese style. For example my room had tatami mats and a futon bed, but the futon was on a 15cm foam base and was set against the wall. Also the chairs were lower than standard western chairs, but higher than sitting on a cushion on the tatami mats. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and the onsen with a view over the Shinkansen lines and the mountains beyond was very relaxing.
