The staffs are very friendly, the space is very cozy, I really like the design of this homestay, it has full facilities, and it is also very clean. It only takes about 5 minutes walk from Hatsuka Ishiguchi bus stop. You can choose to add dinner service for 1500¥ and breakfast for 1000¥ but you won't know what you will be served in advance, like the typical Japanese omakase style. I came in mid-February, the snow was very heavy so the restaurants closed very early, the homestay's 1500 yen dinner really saved my hunger.

The only thing I don't like is the bathroom. Since I'm a foreigner, I'm really shy about sharing a bathroom with someone. And you can only shower between 16:00-23:00. And since it's winter, when I step out of the bathroom to get dressed, it's really cold. That's the only thing that stops me from coming back to this homestay. If you're okay with this type of bathroom, I highly recommend this homestay.

It's walking distance from the slopes. Even though they weren't well versed in English, the staff were very helpful. The heater works well in the room.

The walls are quite thin so noise could be an issue. Luckily the guests were all very considerate.

Good food, near slopes, near bus stop The food was good, more western food than Japanese food. We had grilled chicken for dinner and you can get your own rice from a large rice cooker. Breakfast was eggs, bread and corn flakes. The place is close to the slopes and the bus stop, around 5 minutes walk. The layout of the hotel was thoughtful, the ski/snowboard room was just at the entrance of the hotel. The boots room, changing room/bath was also just near the entrance. The waiting area at the upper floor was also comfortable.

Very thin walls, no place open for lunch, crowded shuttle bus We could not sleep at all as the neighboring room was drinking until past 1am. At 6am, kids from the upper floor was running up and down the stairs which was loud and felt like it vibrated across the whole floor. We could not find any open places for lunch near the slopes, probably due to Covid-19. All the places around the Hatsukaishi lift was closed. Not their fault, but the shuttle bus from Ishiuchi Maruyama ski resort was very crowded and very delayed. We missed our shinkansen at Echigo Yuzawa station. We did ask for taxi help from the Pension but they only pointed a phone number on a paper, which wasn't very helpful as we could not speak Japanese well.

The host is very friendly. They accomodate requests like vegetarian breakfast. They are quick on response via email. When it was heavily snowing, they offered us ride to the station, cheaper than taxi.
