The room was very spacious. Tatami in the room was comfortable. There was hot and cold water, and some tea bags and snacks in the room. The location is quite convenient. Ski rental is just next door to reception entrance. There were lockers to store the ski rental outfits for in-house hotel guests. There was a direct link from reception via a basement to access the locker room. Ski rental staff were very warm and helpful. There were bus shuttle services to and from the echigo-yuzawa station at designated times. The younger staff at the reception may be able to converse in English. The hotel has its unique charm. Though it was not new, it was well kept. The onsen was good.

Some of the more senior hotel reception staff were observed to be quite "cool" and inattentive when we approached the reception counter for assistance. They would look to the younger staff to attend to us. It could have been that the younger staff were more helpful due to language conversability.

The location is quite near to Yuzawa train station with many restaurants nearby. The hotel offers free shuttle service from the hotel to Yuzawa train station every 20 minutes which is very nice! Breakfast is good with local cuisine. The onsen is spacious and it rotates between daytime and night. The room is very spacious as well. The facilities are a little old although quite well maintained. The staff is very friendly. He tried his very best to communicate to me in English.

The temperature of the room can't be controlled (it seems to be centralized), but luckily it doesn't affect my sleep.

I liked the location, breakfast and how easy it was to use the blackcat service, check in and check-out. It's very convenient that it was near the shinkansen and a 7-11. We had extra futons which allowed us to make the beds thicker and more comfy for the three of us.

The room was a little spooky especially the storage area by the bathroom. My husband said he saw something red floating. Recommend you don't watch scary movies before going to this hotel because that closet was a little scary.

Great service attitude by all staff. The hotel’s ski shop offers very reasonable rental packages for good-quality ski equipments. Well located close to major ski slopes, the train station, and restaurants. Good buffet breakfast with a variety of food selection. Large onsen facilities. Clean room and bathroom. Very comfortable stay indeed.

The property is a bit dated, but not an issue at all.

Very convenient location, beautiful facilities and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet had a variety of foods and was a good start to our day. If we ever need accommodation in Echigo Yuzawa again, I'll be looking for availability here at Yuzawa New Otani first.

Our room is Japanese style and it was spacious with a nice view of the mountains and the shinkansen line. They also have a free shuttle running from Echigo Yuzawa Station to the hotel (this is very convenient). The buffet breakfast was also very nice.

I wasn't aware of their free shuttle so we walked from the station to the hotel (only about 600 meters but it was uphill!) It'll be nice if I receive a message from them beforehand about their free shuttle.

Good value. Staff very helpful and nice. The public onsen in hotel was spacious and nice. Rooms are simple and clean. We stayed in the Japanese tatami room. Shuttle to Gala Yuzawa Ski resort stops in front of hotel. Line up early as the shuttle can fill up fast.

Walls are kind of thin and our neighbors were noisy.

Room is clean, nice private onsen. Near JR station, ski shuttle bus stop and convenience store. Friendly staffs, help me to contact the ski rental shop to cancel the reservation.

A very clean and spacious japanese style room with a good variety of amenities and furniture for relaxing, that is also in close walking proximity of Echigo YUZAWA station! There's also a 7-11 nearby. Thr public onsen is great. Room bathroom only has a shower and no tub. The only downside (not negative) is the room and furniture looks a little dated, but are still very clean.

New Otani is a great hotel for stay and ski, friendly staff, great hot springs, The hotel is close to shuttle bus stop for the ski resort.
