We had a really pleasant stay at DOTS.TOKYO. The check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. We stayed in a Family Suite which, while not as spacious as it looked in the photos, was still big enough for three adults and very clean. The bathroom was really well stocked — more than plenty of towels, coat hangers, plus a washing machine, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which was a nice bonus. The kitchenette isn’t really suitable for full-on cooking, but it’s well kitted out with pans, plates, cutlery, a microwave, a kettle, and a fridge/freezer. The location is a bit out of the way, about a 10-minute walk to Ueno Station and 20 minutes to Asakusa Station. That said, we actually enjoyed the evening walks back from both — the area feels very safe and the weather during our stay was beautiful. Family Mart convenience store just 3 mins walk. All in all, a comfortable, clean and well-equipped base with friendly service. Would happily stay again!

Can’t really fault it but if you’re looking to stay right in the middle of Tokyo’s hustle and bustle, this might not be the place for you. It’s tucked away in a quieter residential area, which suited us perfectly — we wanted a peaceful spot to unwind and get a good rest before our busy days exploring the city. Just something to keep in mind depending on what kind of trip you’re after.

Loved the check in, staff, property, location is great easy walk to Ueno station and in a quiet street, laundromat 6 minutes walk from the property. Booked the standard room with a loft which has a sofa bed and two single mattresses below deck.

Standard Japanese "compact" size. Not a problem for us because we came with hand carry, no large luggages to wheel around. Also, I am used to hard/firm mattress so I had no problem sleeping on the sofa bed, it's better for your back but if you're not used to it.. it'll probably impact your experience. Oh below deck, we are short people with max height 160 cm so we do not have a problem with sleeping or sitting below deck. If you are taller, it might feel like camping maybe. We loved our experience at dots. Will come back for sure

Great apartment - tiny, but fully functional. Our family of 5 (i.e. parents + 3 grown-up teenagers) stayed there for a week and it was a really pleasant stay. Yes, there's not a lot of room and you need to take turns e.g. to access the kitchenette, but that's what we expected based on the pictures of the apartment. The aparment has a nice view of Skytree from its window which looks fantastic at night. Beds were very comfy and suited us well. There is Aeon market around the corner (and a couple more within 5-10min walk), Don Quijote within 10min walk and Senji-Ji temple in less than 15mins walk. As for transport, we mostly used Inaricho station that is 10-12mins walk, less often Ueno station (the walking distance is more-less the same, but the station is far bigger hence it takes longer to navigate through it). The staff was super friendly and helpful, and easy to communicate both prior to arrival and at spot. The apartment gets a room service every couple of days if you want to (taking garbage out, replacing towels/pijamas (yes!)). Overall: great stay! I wish I'd had a chance to stay in Tokyo longer, sniff sniff ;)

The apartment wasn't particularily warm during cold and wet March days - there's a lot of chill coming from those tall, nice windows which makes the lower section of the aparment (the "living room") pretty cold and was not pleasant to sleep there the first night or two. Lucily, there's an extra electric heater (on top of the ceiling-mounted AC unit) which we started using later that helped addressing that problem.

Love the modern design and the view of the cosy tiny apartment. The room we stayed in has 4 bunk beds and a sofa bed, which makes a great hangout for a group of friends. Note the tight space though which is not uncommon for Tokyo accommodations. There were only 3 of us in the apartment so it was pretty comfortable for us. We also love the location being in a quaint neighbourhood and just a stroll away to the Akasuka main tourist area.

The nearest train station is about an 11 minute walk but it should not be an issue if you do not have too many luggages with you. The walk is mainly flat and pretty pleasant.

We love our stay here. It meets our expectations Our room for 5 has 4 single beds over 2 levels and a sofa bed. Though it's a bit cramp but is compactly designed to build in all the necessities. There's a washing machine and we dry our clothings in the bathroom over night. Hangers are provided. Though the kitchen area is small, it has a fridge, a kettle and a microwave with some cutleries. The front desk offered free corn soup and coffee. We can see Tokyo Skytree from our room. About 15 to 18 minutes walk from Ueno station and 10 minutes walk to Iriya station.

Nothing actually. It's a bit inconvenient to step up and down the wooden steps/stairs between the bedroom area and the sofa area. I would like to suggest to install more hanging hooks on the wall.

What a gem of a hotel! I booked this hotel as a special gift to myself for my birthday and loved every minute of it. The hotel staff were very kind and those that I did speak with were all fluent in English. I found the room to be spacious and comfortable and appreciated the information and guides on how to use things like the washing machine. It got beautiful light during the day and the split levels were fun. The location was in a residential neighborhood, but I enjoyed a relaxing walk to and from Sensoji temple a few times during my stay. There's convenience stores nearby, and a shopping street to look through! When coming home late at night I never felt unsafe walking the streets here.

Their customer service was great and the staff were always very helpful and welcoming. It was a welcome change from the staff less hotels we stayed in throughout our trip. Since they were so responsive and had such helpful tips on how to enjoy the surrounding area, it made us feel more at ease during our stay. Asakusa and the JR Ueno station were both a comfortable walking distance away, which was extremely convenient and saved us a few train stops. Also, the view of Tokyo Skytree as we walked through the streets was beautiful!

It was very tight and cramped to get around the room, but doable. I just wouldn’t recommend squeezing too many people in one room, especially with big luggage. Our group of 4 fit fine in the room itself, but definitely had some traffic jams walking through the shared spaces. I couldn’t imagine having even 1 more person staying with us in the room.

Although the room was small, the facility was very clean and the staff went above & beyond to make sure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. They were extremely accommodating, & even offered assistance when transporting luggage to the next hotel as well as locating & speaking with a doctor when one of us believed to be injured. Over time, the room grew on us & created a memorable safe space for us. Thank you!

We were 30minutes early, the staff was so sweet to let us check in early since our room was ready and helped the process. Everyday we were greeted by superbly friendly staff. The walk from Ueno station is about 10 minutes but we really enjoy seeing the neighbourhood. Aeon supermarket around the other corner and Lawson and few eateries along the way. Tower Skytree tower is visible from our room. The stay has been perfectly pleasant and my teenage boys enjoyed the unique concept.

Tends to be dusty so if floor wipes or vacuum cleaner provided we could have self-clean during our three nights stay

The clever use of space meant there was room to sleep and relax. Our room had a view of the Skytree was really lovely especially at night when it was lit up. The girls on reception were all very friendly and helpful. There were all the amenities we could need including pyjamas, toiletries, lots of towels and kitchen utensils that made making breaky easy before we headed out each day. There was a laundromat close by to help dry clothes. Family mart was an easy walk too. We loved our stay here and highly recommend as it was awesome value for money!

There wasn’t much we didn’t like. I would have loved a better clothes dryer, but as mentioned above there was a laundromat nice and close. If you have really robust kids I don’t suggest staying here as the layout of the place had my boys (not overly robust) jumping from top bunk down to ground and jumping down the stairs both of which caused a big thump on the floor. I was worried they would disturb other guests but they struggled to stop clunking around. The location was a bit of a walk from train stations, but we didn’t mind in the mornings and in the arvos we just paid for taxis from Ueno (AU$8-9).
