Huge landmark hotel in great location. We stayed in the Garden Tower and had fabulous views of Tokyo. Very close to a busy restaurant street with food marts, outside of the hotel complex, and only a few minutes walk to the subway. A grand dame, and while not brand new, our twin made up room was spacious for Tokyo and the bathroom was more than adequate, and everything was well maintained. We had breakfast in the ground level central restaurant with views of the stunning gardens and it was busy, but well run. The food wasn't amazing but good enough, and we filled up before heading out each day. The hotel is a destination in itself, with locals on weekends having high teas and wedding photos in the gardens etc. Loved everything about it, the old fashioned service, the stunning gardens, taxis lined up at main entrance, the subway very close by - used both. It's located in an upmarket part of Tokyo and very easy to access sites and other areas by subway or taxis.

Friendly staff, clean, good room and facilities. The 40th floor restaurant breakfast buffet was good, and the view of Tokyo and Imperial Palace was amazing. Sky bar was worth a visit to enjoy the sunset, though a touch expensive. It is a large hotel complex, so it took a while to get our bearings. Head for the exit/entrance by Rolls Royce show room for Akasaka Mitsuke Station, which is nearest. Use the underground passageway to hide from heat or rain is another good tip!

The room was a reasonable size, with a good bathroom. Nice having the garden to stroll in.

Booked 6 months ago as a couple and given single beds. Staff said we didn’t request a double bed. Didn’t realise you had to request when you book a double bed room. Restaurants and there are many are very expensive and close early. When we arrived we ended up having a coconut cocktail for dinner at 9pm. The next night we paid $325 for a dinner. We just didn’t know where to find food near this hotel.

Rooms with garden view are absolutely worth going for (they are optional). Very luxurious hotel with many excellent restaurants and excellent service. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel is well located close to bus stop and train station in a (relatively) calmer part of Tokyo. Garden is beautiful and very well kept. Breakfast hygiene standards are extremely high. Hotel has very nice bar with live piano music in the evenings.

The New Otani hotels are among the best of Japan. Having said this, these remarks are relative: Breakfast could have been a bit better (more fresh fruits). If you like modern design; bathroom is not super modern, yet you can see the materials used are of very high quality.

I really enjoyed the service and staff as they were some of the nicest people imaginable. The rooms were comfy and quite roomy, we could easily open two suitcases without crowding the area. It is also super clean and the park is fantastic for som chill out time. The restaurants looked really nice, but we did not have time to try them. The area is also perfect as you have a 3-4 minute walk to the subway, and from there everywhere is easily accessible.

The training facilities are next to none existent, so bring som resistance bands if you're going to do some strength training. I wished the pool had been more accessible.

Very beautiful Japanese Gardens. Huge choice of bars, restaurants. Most staffed by excellent teams. The concierge desk was very poor. Couldn’t even book in advance a large people carrier to the airport at 6.30am on a Sunday. “Sorry all fully booked”!! It took 2 minutes to get our own superb Uber. Several other Concierge failures. Make your own restaurant and bar bookings even within the hotel. A lot of staff training needed to meet basic international standard. Superb sized rooms for Japan. Very old fashioned bathrooms!

The location is excellent - quiet, clean, and not within crowded tourist spots. The view from our room was excellent, including a peak of Mt. Fuji. The hotel offers several breakfast areas. Loved the Garden Lounge the most because it was overlooking the hotel’s beautiful and sprawling Japanese garden with a 400-yr old history. Also, the hotel is connected to a mall with high-end shops, a small grocery, a Family Mart, and several in-house fine-dine restaurants with excellent food and service. Buffet breakfast and room service was excellent. The staff were very helpful, especially Bessie and Carmen who were assigned to clean our 4 rooms. Lastly, there is a taxi lane right outside the hotel, which is very convenient for our family of 7.

The hotel has two entrances, a Main front entrance for the first building, and a less obvious back entrance for the “Tower” building, which causes some confusion for some transport services and first-time guests like us. Most of their in-house restaurants are closed for the afternoon. Also, the carpets are old and doesn’t smell fresh. The interior design is in bad need of a major update, esp along the hallways. It’s a high-end hotel, so one would expect bright hallways and classier decor. Lastly, the pillows are the worst I have had compared to other hotels like the Hilton, Carlton, and Marriott. They were too hard and too small. King-sized beds should have king-sized pillows, not standard ones. I had stiff neck each morning for the whole length of our stay.

The entire hotel and its gardens are beautiful and in a much quieter ,less touristic area. Housekeeping staff were friendly and welcoming and so incredibly efficient.

It is rather confusing finding your way through the complex of several hotel wings and inumerable shops, bars and restaurants. AIthough we actually had 2 very large flat screen televisions in our enormous room, they had only a few channels and were not up to date with technology . There was no ability to stream any of the streaming platforms, however they did have equipment and instructions for setting up a DVD player. It is unusual to stay in any high end accomodation these days that does not offer the ability to stream in room.

Location excellent, cafe's and restaurants on the premises were very expensive but there are more reasonably priced cafe's nearby. 400 year old extensive gardens are fabulous and a great way to spend a couple of hours. Room is reasonable size and garden view rooms have fabulous view over gardens and city. Breakfast is expensive and reasonable range but a bit limited for western foods. The building is massive with huge expensive shop line corridors. Staff are excellent, very helpful and willing. Rooms are modern, classy, well set up and furnished.

Food on premises was expensive ($A45 for a hamburger, $A140 for a meal) but shopping mall of cafes within 300 metre walk and taxi's right in front of building.

The room was clean and very spacious for a Tokyo city hotel. Amenities were ample in our room. View from our room was great. We left the curtains open overnight so we could wake up to the nice view. All the staff we met were polite and helpful. English newspaper was given every morning which is super rare these days. When we called housekeeping or room services, the requests were met within 5-10mins. Very impressed with the response time. The hotel location is very convenient with just 5mins walk to train stations that can pretty much get us everywhere we needed to.

This point is not a dislike but it is a huge hotel with 2 lobby (main and garden court). We were not aware that we could check in at Garden court and had to drag our luggages to the Main lobby for check in. Luckily the hotel staff used a trolley to help us move our luggages to our room The room felt very old school and dated. Could use a facelift. The lights in the room were very dim and not sufficient. Toilet space is a little cramped. If there is a facelift, the hotel could consider expanding the size of the toilet. We could hear people talking outside our room when they came back or went out. Not a big problem for deep sleepers.
