Great location with everything we needed within walking distance. Hotel was lovely, room was spacious and really clean. Good size bathroom with great shower. The facilities and staff at the hotel exceeded our expectations. Being able to check in early was AMAZING after a long haul flight from Europe.
The two single sofa beds in the apartment were very firm and not as comfortable to sleep on as we'd hoped. Even a thicker/softer mattress topper would make a big difference. We were also not able to use the tv for streaming services, which would've been nice, but not essential.

Room was HUGE! and very comfortable, amenities were great, futon was comfortable! Loved the rooftop, the customer service and the close proximity to so much activity in the area as well as train station. Nikita, Trinh and there was a wonderful girl at the front desk (didn't catch her name!) that helped write out a request in Japanese for a specific medicine I wanted at a nearby pharmacy; customer service was second to none!! Everyone there was so kind and helpful, always going the extra mile to make my family and I feel welcomed!
Nothing, everything was great!

We were lucky enough to get a room on the 9th floor which offered us glimpses out over parts of the area. Location is great. 7-11 across the road is really handy and great coffee only a few doors down, plus well connected to many great areas of Tokyo but also much quieter than other bustling parts of town. We loved it!
Expensive, but not unreasonable compared to other hotels in Tokyo.

The property has excellent location and facilities, and we were able to prepare some meals. The 7-11 in front of the store was very convenient and it is within walking distance to Roppongi and Akasaka stations. It was particularly helpful for gluten-free meal preparation and the hotel staff were very patient I BC helping me make restaurant reservations for celiac/gluten allergies.
Our particular room could not have any open windows which made it slightly uncomfortable during the night, but I think this is a small price to pay given the beautiful views due to the floor to ceiling windows.

We had a fantastic stay at MIMARU Tokyo Akasaka, which offered a rare amount of space by Tokyo standards. We booked the Japanese/Western-style room—two twin beds pushed together plus a traditional tatami area that comfortably fit 2–3 futons (perfect for our 10-year-old). The room also had a small but well-stocked kitchenette with pots, pans, a mini-fridge, and a compact cooking area—super convenient for families. The bathroom featured a deep Japanese soaking tub and came with all the amenities you'd expect from a modern hotel. Front desk staff were helpful, friendly, and always willing to offer tips or directions. The location in Akasaka is ideal—just a 5-minute walk to the Akasaka subway station, 10 minutes to Roppongi, and directly across the street from a 24-hour 7-Eleven for anything you might need. All in all, this is a great home base for families visiting Tokyo—centrally located, family-friendly, and spacious enough that you’re not living on top of each other.

We stayed in the Japanese apartment because the kids wanted to experience sleeping in the futons and they loved it! Rooms were very clean and quiet, bed and pillows very comfortable. Nice complimentary toiletries available. The little kitchen has all you need to prepare small meals and there’s a 7/11 just across the street. It’s located just 5 minutes walking distance from the metro station in a lovely neighbourhood with many different restaurants and convenience shops around. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They were absolutely amazing when we forgot some documents in the safe after checkout and they got in touch to help sort it out. Would definitely stay here again!
No blackout curtains.

The location of Mimaru turned out be be perfect for us. Super close to the areas of Shibuya and Harajuku (5 min subway ride) and walking distance to Roppongi which in the end we didn't end up spending too much time in. You can even walk to Shibuya if you don't mind a longer (40 min) walk. The subway line that Akasaka is on can get you almost anywhere you are likely to want to go in the city without having to change, providing you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk at the other end, and are smart about planning your route. I'd recommend downloading an English subway map as PDF to your phone - and combining that with the public transport layer in Google or Apple Maps to work things out. The Akasaka subway entrance is a 3 min walk from the hotel. We went to Akihabara, Ginza, Asakusa and more on the subway, and took the subway every day with a few very reasonably priced taxis and Uber here and there. The Ubers are generally extremely lux in Tokyo incidentally. The cash fare on the subway to most places is around $1.10, so amazing value, and was much easier than figuring out pre-paid cards or mobile payment. Just remember to keep your coins on you (as change) and you can use them all up on the subway. The staff at Mimaru were very friendly and helpful and everything was clean, modern and worked well. We made use of the small kitchen and had no issues ordering food to the hotel for example using Uber Eats. You meet the driver downstairs. There is a humidifier in the room which we found we needed to make use of and keep topped up with water daily, or it did get a little dry in the room with the forced air heating system. The Japanese style toilet was amazing and we got so hooked on the heated seat and other benefits that we ended up bringing one home with us. Yodobashi camera in Akihabara is the place to go for this and other electronics. A random note is that unlike other countries you need to create a new account to use Amazon JP.
The western style room we had was clean and great but it is small, like everything in Tokyo, and it's not cheap. We were 3 people in the room so our teenager was on the sofa bed. It isn't really fair to blame the hotel for this as it's just par for the course in Japan. Accommodation is expensive, while most everything else (food, taxis, shopping) is cheap. That said the hotel did offer good value in relative terms and we liked our 'mini Tokyo apartment' for our two week stay.

Location was outstanding - train station only 5 mins walk, train line made it easy to get to other locations, 7-11 and Lawson across the road, less than 10 mins walk to the main part of Akasaka for dining and drinks. Staff were very helpful and room was clean and had all we needed (incl. a good size fridge!).
The emergency door in our room had no blinds, so we were waking up before 5am everyday because the room was filled with light (it gets light very early in summer). The rooftop was very disappointing. No real effort made by Mimaru to make it a place where guests would want to spend time - aside from a couple of not-very-comfortable looking seats, it is just a concrete space. Was good to have access to a laundry in the hotel but the clothes dryers were full of lint, seemed the filters hadn't been cleaned in a while.
