Amazing view of Shinagawa River, next to amazing eateries and bakery. Staff spoke great English and were friendly and accommodating. The room itself is also beautiful and well stocked

Since it's docked, it floats on the water. When we stayed, I think someone was filming a boat scene and kept going back and forth, creating waves that caused the room to rock a lot. If any moderate sized boats passes, the room will sway

Absolutely unique location and house barge experience. Premium stay all the way. TY Harbor is right next door with craft brewery and delicious lunch and dinner. There is also a Breadworks cafe which has delicious pastries bread and coffee.

Loved it all, it is a little outside downtown but the art and walking paths are enjoyable for strolls.

My partner and I stayed here for one night just to check out what it would be like to stay on a houseboat. I wish we had been able to stay much longer. This is the closest I’ve felt to being in a house while getting all the advantages of a hotel. It’s very roomy: there is tons of storage space and two large closets, a lovely bed that struck the right balance between firm and soft, a fun comfy couch, a table where we enjoyed our breakfast service while gazing out the floor to ceiling windows onto the canals and neighboring islands, a beautiful shower, and a toilet who’s seat automatically lifts when you enter the water closet. The staff was very attentive, communicating with me several times before I even arrived about things to consider. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but very easy to access by subway and a walk of a few blocks. The neighborhood feels thoughtful new suburban. These houseboats certainly add charm and character.

We only spent one night at Petals, the last of 19 nights in Japan, but this is a hotel stay that we will remember forever. It's just so different from a normal hotel. The houseboat itself was immaculate in terms of decor, facilities and cleanliness. The area itself (a former warehouse district) has been repurposed and is full of interesting bars, restaurants, cafes and art-related premises, as well as a few top quality office developments to give it a feeling of permanence. The monorail to Haneda is a 5 minute walk away. Stepping out of our "room" onto the gangway, and then the waterfront to grab breakfast at an amazing patisserie a block away felt special. The communications with the staff was perfect. The hotel reception is a ground floor office a half block away from the houseboats. The quality of the room itself was 11 out of 10. The outside decor of the houseboats is much higher quality than photos taken from a distance would suggest.

There was nothing we didn't like. In the morning, the boat rocked a little when a larger vessel went passed. We loved it, but some guests may not.

We’ve stayed at many different luxury accommodations, however unit 1 at Petals Tokyo surpasses them all. Lying in your bed at night you can see the lantern lit Japanese house boats (dinner cruises) passing by. The general waves barely noticeable, but adding to the ambiance all the same. As the lights ripple across the water. Accentuating the sky rises surrounding you. It still amazes me how this fairly central located hotel is so quiet, especially at night. With the occasional fish jumping or the diving birds splash the water around you. Three restaurants with water front sitting located less than a stones throw away. Very well designed artsy feel, yet extreme technologically advanced touches. Such as fully automated drapes and sheets controls from your bed. Simply amazing location.

I didn’t stay long enough. There’s nothing about this property I would change.

What a beautiful, unique experience! We loved our stay here and it was truly special. There are only 4 units and every boathouse is unique. We stayed in unit 2 which was simply gorgeous. It should be rated a five star, given the attention to detail with high end finishes, bath amenities, robes, slippers, etc. The bathroom was gorgeous- I felt like I was at the Ritz Carlton ! I would guess it doesn’t qualify as a five star rating since it doesn’t have a restaurant, pool etc on premise. However there are fabulous restaurants in the area. The staff was also knowledgeable and very helpful. The reservation desk was close to the property but not attached and agents were not always there 24 hrs but they were always accessible by phone. Since it is right on the water, you can watch ducks, marine life and boats go by. We would love to return. We have stayed in many five star properties but this one was extra special.

Everything!!! This is by far the best place I’ve stayed in Japan across many different visits. Spacious room, great views, quirky and fun, super stylish and comfortable. Mina-san was very accomodating and we were lucky enough to get an early check-in when we popped in to drop off our bags after arriving at Haneda. The location is great, easy access to the Monorail for Haneda and Shinagawa Station for Narita. Cool newish area with some good cafes and restaurants as well as an art museum. We will definitely be back next time we are in Tokyo.

Everything. The staff was very professional and attentive. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The location and views were beautiful, and the restaurants near by were amazing. 10 out of 10. I WILL be back.

A microwave would be a great addition to the room.
