We booked into the Ritz Carlton because it's supposed to be the best property in Almaty but we were surprised to see that it is literally a few floors in a building. Coming from India, we are used to sprawling properties for 5 star hotels and this one didn't look the part. However, the staff was extremely courteous and nice and so was the breakfast. They had a lot of options for vegetarians and vegans. Our room had a gorgeous mountain view. We loved it!

I thought it was fairly expensive for 1. the location because it takes a while to get to the city centre where all the action is. There isn't much to do in the area around the hotel apart from a mall. 2. the hamam and the spa was shut while we were there so again it felt very wasteful to have spent so much on the hotel when the amenities weren't working. 3. the property itself wasn't that great for a five star hotel. We stayed at the Novotel for next 2 nights and frankly couldnt tell the difference when we paid 4 times of what we paid at Novotel for the Ritz.

The hotel is very good, with excellent facilities, although I didn't get the opportunity to try the pool. The staff are very friendly and professional and extremely helpful in all areas. The rooms are kept in very good condition and serviced regularly. The rooms are equipped with all varieties of supplies and disposables in case you forget anything. I loved the spacious walk-in shower. In-room dining is very good, the food is high quality, and room service support easy to use and courteous. Good selection of food types and a good wine list. The hotel is well located and provides transport facilities, at a small cost. The concierge is exactly what you would expect and you can ask almost anything, booking external restaurants, shopping and local information. There are plenty of comfortable meeting spaces and most areas have incredible views of the city and/or mountains. Next to the hotel, just a few minutes walk, is a shopping centre, the Essentai Mall, a high end collection of quality stores with a very good supermarket in the basement. I can highly recommend a stay here for business or pleasure, and will definitely visit again when I am next in Almaty.

Everything was top-notch! There's absolutely no room for any complaints. The service at the hotel is simply outstanding, with the staff excelling at their jobs. It was delightful to find that room service is available 24/7, and any inquiries are addressed promptly, making the wait time practically unnoticeable. The food is fresh and incredibly delicious. Special thanks to the chef for this culinary delight. The room itself was spacious and filled with natural light. All the amenities were provided, and they exceeded my expectations. From the reception and lobby to the restaurant and spa, their excellence is beyond commendable. The massage is also worth a special mention – it's truly a must-try. I'm very grateful for the excellent stay, and I will definitely return.

There are many things that I appreciated about this hotel, namely : 1) I loved that the reception is on the 30th floor and is beautifully decorated, 2) I loved the mountain views from the breakfast restaurant and my hotel room, 3) I appreciated the conceiges assistance in organizing a day trip to the lakes and Charyn canyon. The guide/ driver, Mr Bakhtiyar Alimseitov was very knowledgeable and spoke English fluently. As a frequent traveller I appreciated, that he was not overbearing, and was very professional and polite. 4) The breakfast was great with a wide variety of choices. 5) I highly recommend the lentil soup and freshly baked bread from in-room dining. 6) I appreciated that the in room dining service staff were all very friendly and professional. 7) I loved the wooden floors and spacious bathroom in the room.

1) I would like to recommend to improve the English fluency and communication of the conceiges on the ground floor. On 2 occasions they did not know about my tour/ transfer and had to contact the conceige in reception, which resulted in delays in my trips. 2) In line with international trends, I strongly recommend that you make some rooms hypoallergenic (no carpets and feather pillows / duvet), especially as the windows cannot be opened in the rooms.

If you wish to stay in the best hotel in Almaty, this is the one. I would recomend go for a City view for a general feeling of the city. The shopping center and a few extremely nice restaurants are just below. Brunch place would be Caffeteria and for party Eva. Enjoy!

Very clean, the staff is very friendly and professional, they know how to please their guests, the rooms are well maintained throughout the stay. Highly recommended.

The staff were very nice. The cleaning lady Gul'zhan was very attentive, reacted quickly to my requests and overall took a good care of my needs, so thanks to her.
