This hotel has lots of homely touches and it is certainly a great place to stay. My room had everything I needed and a nice big window. The restaurant downstairs is excellent and that is where you get your breakfast, included in the room price. I had lunch there twice and I highly recommend you give it a try, but certain dishes run out, so have a midday lunch to get the full range of options. It is a 15 minute walk to Tanjung Aru Beach, which is a great place for sunsets, enjoying the market, or walking up or down the beach to enjoy the scenery.

I think it is on the expensive side, however I've been travelling throughout SE Asia for 3.5 months and probably conditioned to lower prices.

The accommodation is a family business and well organized. Alex and his family are very concerned that you feel comfortable. The room I had was huge and with a private bathroom. Alex is very helpful and helps where he can. He also organizes tours on demand. The price is simply fop.. In the Qartier everything can be found nearby .. An ATM is not far on the way to the beach ( 7 Eleven shop) ... You have to see the sunset. Downstairs is a restaurant. Opens early 6.00 - 17.00 .. Very well organized. Opposite is an Indian with a thali... Thank you Alex and family

Very clean and comfortable, shared bathroom was always clean and had shower gel in there for use. Location is right next to restaurants and shops but a bit out of the way. Breakfast is included, you can choose 2 local pastries from the cafe downstairs which we enjoyed. Also I want to give a special mention to a young girl who works in the cafe downstairs, we didn’t get her name but she has ginger hair and her English is very good. She always looked out for us and assisted us every morning in choosing a pastry and getting us coffees promptly. She is an asset to the team.

Just a bit out of the way with no hike rentals close by

Spacious, clean comfortable room with high ceilings. Cafe downstairs was super convenient and yummy, breakfast was solid (a drink and pastry) but we tried other food there too and it was great. Alex would help us order and recommend some things if he was there when we went - made us feel welcome! Location is not central but it is walking distance to a popular beach and night market, and close to the airport.

Water pressure in shower was low. AC was weak, but Alex was very proactive about getting someone to look into it. It still took a really long time to lower the temperature of the room (like hours), so we ended up having to leave the AC on when leaving for the day so it never got too hot (for reference, we’ve never done this anywhere else in our 6 week trip to Southeast Asia. Also we usually set the AC to around 23 but it probably never got below 25 during our stay). Also, we booked the family room and while it was spacious it wasn’t different from other normal rooms we’ve had (a bed, a private bathroom, a desk)

Absolutely brilliant place, close to the airport, away from the noise of the city, close to the beach for sunset watching, kopitiam downstairs, small market, a couple of traditional grocery shops and a little coffee shop next door for a very good coffee and croissants. We liked the large room with big windows, the shared living room and the common kitchen with access to boiling water for tea, a rice cooker and cooking gear. Get yourself a motorbike and you are good to go.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Out of hours check in worked perfectly. We caught a grab taxi from the airport for 9myr (£1.50). The room was spacious, very clean, fabulous big comfortable bed. A desk, hanging space for clothes, good Aircon and a fan. Nice bathroom with hot shower. There is also a kitchen here which had all cooking facilities and also very clean. First morning - we were greeted at breakfast, which is downstairs at the café place underneath and served with tea/coffee and a selection of pastries which were delicious. Alex - our host was helpful and accommodating, we would definitely stay here again.

We liked everything

Basic room but had everything I needed! The bathroom was very clean and they had a drinkable water dispenser for guests to use. Alex is a great host and he didn't have any issues with my late check out, or storing a bag for a few hours. I also appreciate the staff at the restaurant, who accommodated my dietary request for breakfast. Overall - excellent place, I'd definitely come back.

Very clean, spacious, and comfortable room. A few restaurants and a supermarket on the same block. Breakfast downstairs in the busy restaurant was fun and appreciated. You just show your key and they bring you a coffee and you can choose a bakery item from the front of the shop. We also had some local breakfast for a small fee. Delicious. It was interesting watching the comings and goings of workers. We had a car so the proximity to the airport was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

the local kopitiam just downstairs is a sure bonus! tried the homemade char siew pao - so yummy! easy access for grab & seafood restaurants. 10mins walk to Tg Aru beach. I also appreciate the water filter and high water pressure for shower. Bed is firm & nice. It was a nostalgic stay!

a sliding door to the toilet would be nice (instead of a shower curtain)

We have to check out early, the host prepared our breakfast in advanced! It's curry pie and was delicious.

It's not the fault of the host, however it could be perfect if the property does have elevator. People with big luggage or many of them, or with mobility issues might to consider to stay here. It's only on the first floor (second floor for some countries), but yeay it's worked for me.
