The location is near the ferry to Valetta and all bus stops ( just 300m). It's was clean, clean! Breakfast was simple but good quality and a bit of everything. Like at home. The room is very small but clean Fresh oranges to make orange juice. Great Italian coffee! Prices for wine and beer or Softdrinks ist super OK. Bottled water is free.

To be honest, the street is extremely noisy. Almost impossible to sleep with open windows. Better close them and use AC.

This is a very nice place, with friendly hosts and great location! It is close to all the important spots - restaurants, harbour, St. Julian party area, ferry to Valletta, bus to the airport. Our room was very well equipped, having a maltese balcony. We were offerred complimentary drinks upon arrival, and we could get non-alcoholic and alcoholic at the reception any time for a very fair price. Breakfast was good and served at the terrace.

We liked everything. It is just the typical house with many stairs which might not be comfortable for everyone. Also each room has an external bathroom - is however mentioned in the description so no surprise.

Perfect location. Very clean and comfortable. Great facilities. I loved my room and the personal touches such as bottle of wine, and dressing gown. The owner was really helpful and I was able to leave my luggage there for the day before catching my flight. Absolutely brilliant place.

Only thing which I didn't like was the light shining in my bedroom all the time. This was coming through an internal window which faced onto the communal hallways so every time someone came in or out, the light would come on.

The owners and the staff were very helpful with everything. They even served breakfast earlier to my convenience and allowed an earlier check-in after request. They also offer free water, coffee-tea, snacks and fruits for the guests. Soft drinks, alcohol and snacks are available for buying. The breakfast was delicious, and very fresh!!!

I would prefer if a refregerator was installed inside the room.

Brilliantly decorated property very clean and well equipped continental breakfast was fab up on the roof terrace. Owners and staff go above and beyond for you and the little resident dog loves a boiled egg for breakfast.

Mosquitoes but they are putting up nets so it wasn’t to much of an issue. Some larger shower towels would be better but they did supply fluffy dressing gowns.

We liked the music theme. We got the Louis Armstrong room. Excellent location in the city center. Close to bus stations/ ferry to Valetta/ restaurants. Nice staff (reception and cleaning lady). Confortable bed. Very clean, the room and bathroom were impecable. Kitchen available, good coffee. The room was small, but this was mentioned in the room description ( so this is just fyi). Good value for money.

Lack of hot water.

We liked the location was close to Valletta and the Three Cities. Sliema is a pretty relaxed place and nice evening walks by the sea with a view on St Julian. We liked the music theme, vibe and layout of the hotel, terrace and lobby. We were allowed the leave our luggage in the lobby for a few hours. The kitchen was tiny but nice and useful.

We had little ants everywhere in our tiny ground floor room. The room and the bathroom was very tiny, but I understand it was a budget room.

The cleanliness of the hotel was top-notch, ensuring our rooms and facilities were in impeccable condition throughout our stay. The location was another standout feature. The staff are friendly, but the cleaning lady was the best.

One aspect of our stay did raise a concern. We were taken aback when the staff requested our credit card information. Given the emphasis on data privacy in today's digital age, such requests can be perceived as intrusive and may raise security concerns for guests. It would be beneficial for the hotel to reconsider such practices, keeping the guests' peace of mind at the forefront.

Another wonderful stay! Backstage Boutique Townhouse continues their high standards and amazing service. This was my second stay. I first visited in 2017 and booked another trip for this July as I wanted to share the experience of Malta with my new husband these many years later. I was so happy to see that they have not just kept but exceeded the quality of service. The location is lovely, less than a short 4 -5 min walk up the road from the ferries but just far enough away that you get a quiet night's sleep. Plus its in a bit more of a historic area so there are lots of lovely side streets to wander down but a new, well stocked Aldi just down the road to boot. The owners have taken great care to balance a beautiful, historic space with lots of charm and personality while insuring all sorts of mod-cons like USB plugs in walls, powerful air conditioning, free coffee and croissants, plush robes, daily room cleaning etc. We had a lovely room, the Marilyn, with a traditional Maltese balcony. It was very quiet and the room was very smartly designed with ample storage space in the large closet, under the bed and in the bedside tables. The aircon was brilliant in the heat. The bathroom was also smartly designed with a little clothes line that we could use at the end of our day to hang our wet towels and bathing suits. Kristina, JK and the team do their best to make your trip exceptional. They know both the immediate area and the island very well and have the most up to date recommendations to help you maximize your stay. I unfortunately had to do a little work while I was there and the internet is powerful and reliable, a huge plus. It was interesting to see how the island has changed - so many Michelin starred restaurants, many new and wonderful lidos - but Backstage has retained its heart, style and charm. Thank you Backstage for another amazing visit!

Nothing I can really report. Sliema has become a bit more commercialized since my last visit but the Backstage Boutique Townhouse location is ideal in that respect. It is still super convenient to all the sites and great value for money but most importantly its not directly on the main drag so you get a wonderful cozy vibe and the historic beauty of a historic neighborhood but you are a few minutes from all the action and the ferry.

They put so much love and effort into details, from the reception to the terrace, rooms, kitchen, everything was perfect! Decor is on point!! We stayed only one night, but everything we got was delight! Room was so cute, all in music style, the hallway has so many artistic details, and the terrace on the rooftop is just peerfection. We got wine for welcome gift and you can have coffee and croissants in morning time for free. The receptionist lady is so kind and nice, in a good mood for anything you need during your stay. We will come again for sure!

We got room with external bathroom so if you are the one who needs it closer-let them know. In our room was a bunk bed which should be more attached to the wall, it was shaky when you climb it.
