This boutique hotel in Valetta is a gem! It's just 2.5 short blocks, with a very gentle slope uphill for 1.5 blocks, to get tone of the main streets. It is quiet & the area is very safe. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. While the staff is not there 24/7 (i.e., not in the evenings), there is a number you can call for prompt help if need be - we didn't, but it was available. Our room was small and only had a stool to sit on besides the bed, but we really weren't planning on spending extended time there when there was so much to see and do. The beds were very comfortable, the AC worked very well, and the shower had 2 options (standard & rain shower) with no pressure or temperature issues. The welcome included a free bottle of wine to enjoy on the upstairs patio/balcony. We also opted out of daily room service (except to empty trash and refill anything that we needed like TP, shampoo, etc) for our 3 day stay and for this we received free transportation to the airport on our departure date. The limo driver arrived exactly at the scheduled time. The breakfast options were great & included freshly cooked eggs if one desired. You have to go up a spiral staircase one level to the dining area, & 2 levels to the outside rooftop balcony, but the staff carried our meals up for us so we could enjoy the views facing east. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Really nothing

I liked everything about this special boutique hotel. It was an amazing room for two friends who are solo travelers. One slept upstairs on a comfortable sleeping loft (with lots of headroom) and the other slept downstairs on a couch that extended to a large comfortable bed. The hotel is a beautiful place with a rooftop deck to have breakfast or wine to watch the sunset and the beautiful harbor. Perfectly located in Valletta! Breakfast was included and was delicious. We were given a free bottle of wine when we checked in which we enjoyed on the roof deck. Cecilia and Yitka (please excuse any spelling errors) along with the breakfast and room staff were amazing.

Truly the only thing I didn’t like about the property was our short stay!

The location was excellent. 2 to 3 minutes to Republic Street, 7 to 10 minutes to the Triton Fountain and seven minutes on foot to the fast ferry. Beds were a little softer than what we preferred, but that’s a very personal preference. We got the penthouse apartment that came with two bottles of free water and a nice bottle of wine which we did not try, but it was the thought that counts. All of my amenities that we would expect from a small boutique hotel were included. Breakfast was nice and staff were very welcoming. The best part about our room was the terrace with ocean view. Despite central location, it was very quiet at night and he slept well.

Not the hotel’s “fault” - it is located on a dead end street which made it difficult for large taxis to come in and out (they have to make a U-turn in a very tight space). Just something to be aware of if you have large pieces of luggage as it does require you to take it uphill a little bit in order to meet the car. We were a group of 6 and needed a larger van.

The room was comfortable and well appointed. A small patio was included. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of buffet items and freshly cooked eggs. All staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a lift to the breakfast room. The hotel is an easy walk away from most of Valletta's historical attractions and many restaurants and bars. The Three Cities ferry and the Gozo ferry again are an easy 10 minute walk.

A small point: the bathroom lights light up the bedroom too much at night disturbing sleep

Really lovely staff, wonderful location, enormous rooms, very clean, lovely roof terrace with the best views. Loads of free bottled water - a must in August - and great freebies in the room on arrival. Everything feels good quality and nothing is too much trouble.

As it’s located in a terraced old street in the centre of town, it is very charming but lacks a little bit of communal space - there’s no lounge or lobby area to speak of. You need to be able-bodied to negotiate the low ceilings of the mezzanine floors of the duplex rooms (where the bed is) and the spiral staircases leading to the breakfast area and rooftop.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread was fantastic, especially the croissants! The kitchenette was compact but had everything we needed. The location was unbeatable, right in the heart of Valletta. A great food court and supermarket were just a short walk away. Our balcony room offered breathtaking views, and we were lucky enough to witness the New Year’s fireworks from the comfort of our own room.

Very personal opinion - The incorporation of Japanese elements into the lobby artwork was, unfortunately, not to my liking. The unconventional use of Japanese letters, including incorrect characters and a mixture of languages, was jarring. The association of Japan with negative stereotypes from other Asian countries, such as socialist dictators and opium, was somewhat offensive. I believe some other Japanese people would share my discomfort if they saw this artwork. Our stay would have been perfect if those arts were more comfortable and respectful selections. However, I understand that Europe may have limited knowledge about my mother country due to its cultural and geographical distance. It's a reminder that the East may also have misconceptions about the West.

Ursulino is the place I would return to anytime; everything was exceptional. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, the bathroom clean, with daily housekeeping. Attention to detail was not lacking, and the staff were kind and ready to assist. Upon arrival, we received a complimentary bottle of wine to enjoy on the hotel's stunning terrace, and breakfast had everything one could need. The hotel is located close to Valletta's old town yet in a quiet area. All in all, our stay at Ursulino made our vacation more delightful.

The staff were A-plus! They went above and beyond the call of duty and were helpful in resolving issues with our airline checkin. Since this was our first visit to Malta they had some excellent advice on how to navigate the area. The room was large, clean, and had all the amenities one needs for a stay in Valletta. The area was relatively quiet but very close to attractions, bars, and restaurants. A delicious breakfast, with options, was provided daily. This would be our choice for any return to Valletta.

The staff were really pleasant and helpful, and gave us a lot of useful information. As it was low season and the hotel was quiet, they also upgraded us from a twin room to the lovely penthouse suite at no extra cost, which was a very kind gesture. It was very comfortable and the view from the balcony there was spectacular!

A minor comment - there were building works next door so there could be a bit of noise fairly early in the morning, but that was outside the hotel's control. Otherwise nothing I can think of.

A special “thank you” to Corina and the girls(apologies can’t remember everyone’s name) on the breakfast floor who were all amazing. Made the stay worth the price paid. Breakfast was nice, albeit a smaller variety on offer, eggs were made to order, freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing and all bakery items on offer were delicious and always served with a cheery disposition! The lovely lady from the Czech Republic was also genuinely friendly and went out of her way to provide coffee and water, prior to our departure home on our last day and even went out of her way, checking on our taxi transfer in the street for the airport. Thank you it was truly appreciated!! The majority of the staff are very much the essence of this establishment. The location is also a bonus, a 5 minute or so walk from the main streets in one direction and 10 minutes from the lower harbour front, to access the ferries to the three cities and the fast ferry to Gozo.

Shower was a little trickle. Hairdryer (forgot to bring my own ) was a bit basic in the room and the TV was a little complicated, second day, one of the female staff members was a little curt regards her demeanour in showing how it all worked, in fact probably did not really show us, played about with it to show it worked, but not how. So we gave up on it! No recycling, especially the illy coffee pods, so everything was thrown in one bin. The water bottles were complimentary, but one bottle had this showing on it, perhaps just kindly clearly outline all water bottles are complimentary. But very much appreciated that they were, thank you Ursulino!
