Pros: The property and aesthetic is cute, quaint, and chic. It only has 6 rooms, so it feels quiet and intimate, great for solo travelers or couples. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this property is the wonderful smell (of both the lobby and the room). The staff was friendly and very attentive. The master suite is beautiful: very spacious, comfortable, and greatly decorated. The shower is definitely a highlight (though it takes a couple of minutes for the water to heat). Breakfast is simple, but delicious. La Valise is a small haven in the center of SMA.

Cons: Because the room is so large and open, the A/C does not feel as cool (and I'm a stickler for having a cold room come bedtime). The pool and jacuzzi are heated, but not regularly, so you have to notify the team in advance, which does not allow for much spontaneity or last-minute plans. Although the hotel is greatly located in the city center, its street is closed off to cars, so one can't load/unload in front of the hotel, but rather on the corner and walk with luggage to/from the hotel and car, which is not the most convenient or comfortable.

Very stylish hotel. Perfect location in the middle of the busy historic centre, on a quiet pedestrianised road. The Conceirge team were very friendly and responsive. Breakfast was great and ordering it via WhatsApp was very convenient. The room and bathroom was huge! Housekeeping did a great job of the daily cleaning and turn down service. Free minibar was much appreciated. Loved the small touches, like welcome drinks and hand written note.

Minor niggles: The room is bit on the dark side, even with all the lights on. Too many light switches everywhere, which had to turned on and off individually. We tripped over the coffee table legs serval times as the legs stick out. The dressing area could do with some drawers so that you can unpack your suitcase, and some slippers would have nice touch as the flooring is rough textured stone.

Lovely little hotel in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. Very personal attention from the moment to arrive until you leave. Feels like luxury the whole time you are there.

For such an expensive hotel, the included breakfast could have been better. We also had a few minor issues with the bathroom - the bathtub didn't really fill up and one of the sink faucets fell off. It did not disrupt our vacation much, but for such a pricy spot, our expectations were a bit higher.

Everything is just excellent! It’s at the heart of SMA but on a quiet street with shops close around 8pm. The morning and night are very quiet and can only hear bird chipping. Walking distance to all major attractions and restaurants. Lovely and spacious room with thoughtful details like Marshall speakers, makeup bands and earplugs. The design is wonderful with lots of Aztec influenced elements. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Louis, Oscar and Nicolas are all wonderful and try to accommodate to every request. Breakfast is a dream- lots of options with great taste.

This place blew my mind! The exterior is non-descript, but as soon as the door opens, you’ll find yourself in an oasis within the city. We stayed in the Genesis suite, and it was incredible. Easily the best hotel room we’ve ever had. It was an experience for all of the senses; as soon as we walked in, the lighting was very romantic, the air was fragrant, there was the sound of birds chirping from the speakers, the architecture of the room was gorgeous. It felt as if we were staying in a private museum. The hallway leading to the bathroom was mirrored and beautifully illuminated. The bath house/room was unlike anything else we’d ever seen in a hotel room! The spacious, soaking walk-in tub was set in such a way that it was like having your own luxury spa experience. Just stunning. I also opted to have an in-room massage, and I highly recommend it. Don’t be like us and forget your swimsuits, because the pool and upper terrace jacuzzi looked amazing. On top of everything, the staff (Nicolas y Oscar) were genuinely kind, sweet and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was better than most hotel paid breakfasts. Book it, you won’t regret it - just make sure you do it early because they book up fast.

La Valise was a dream. As an interior designer, I appreciated every detail. The shower was incredible! The bed was the most comfortable! The pool and rooftop - just beyond. Luis at the front desk was a hoot ( please share that expression with him!) he was so fun and lovely to chat with, receive recommendations. We have fun! My only suggestion is leave front doors closed so guests can have the privacy while enjoying the pool. I hope to return and enjoy this hotel again!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The room was so comfortable and beautifully decorated. But what made it truly special was the incredible customer service provided by Luis and Nico. They made us feel right at home. And let’s not forget the hotel’s perfect location. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

issues with telephones and concierge - outdoor music playing until 10 pm - crazy table with legs that trip you up if you are not mindful

The place is gorgeous, and the staff really went above and beyond for us. We wanted to take some engagement pictures, and they spruced up the room to make it look spectacular. They were simply amazing. Loved the little details like the welcome mezcal, and the breakfast. We would certainly stay here again.

My only small complaint would be that they said they were going to light the lanterns/candles at night which didn’t happen. Maybe next time.

I came for the bath and fell in love with the staff! The property is simply sensational. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay and everything was top notch in the Genesis suite, especially that fabulously uniquely designed bath. Beautiful heated pool we used 3 times every day, mescal on the terrace and massage in room. So good we did it again 2 days later.
