The whole "hotel" area is beautiful. It's almost like from another village... It's nice to spend the evening here by the pool, play some cards, have some beer,....

When we woke up (9 am) and asked for breakfast, nobody was there to make it. There is no much other option in the village. Caretaker called somebody to come - We left after 40 minutes of waiting. Other thing, which is not the fail of the hotel - Chiquila is an awful place. If you wan't to arrive later and spend the night in Villas before traject to Holbox it's ok... Otherwise go to the island asap ;)

* Missed your ferry to Holbox- Stay here* * Considering a night in Chiquila before Holbox, do it, stay here * We booked at 7pm, on arrival at the airport 3 hrs later than normal expected and therefore knowing we would miss the last ferry to Holbox, and communicated that we would wish to check in in the next 2/3 hours. Booking confirmed, WhatsApp communication welcoming us and assuring us that late check in would be fine. Very reassuring despite the last minute hiccup. On arrival in Chiquila, we were directed down the back roads, and pot holes doesn't cover it! This is an unmade road, and bumpy! But don't be put off, this place is worth the ride. Pulled up to an open gate, welcoming lighting, a smile on reception. Despite a language barrier, us no Spanish, the lovely chap no English, we managed to pay the fee and check in. Basic, but clean and well presented room. Comfy bed, clean towels. Shower not so great, but we were grateful not fussy! Bottles of water provided in room. After a great night sleep and waking up to the novel sounds of local wildlife, we took in our outdoor surroundings, we were the only guests! Couple of loungers, cute outdoor seating on a porch area, pool clean, with toilet and shower. Our host was busy attending to his jobs, and again with effective use of hand signs we established breakfast was on its way, included in our booking, we got unlimited fresh coffee, fresh fruit with yoghurt and granola and either omelette or pancakes. All freshly made. This place is a true corner of paradise. After packing up, I was able to fill water bottles from the machine in the kitchen, we left our car parked up for the day/night and headed off for a 10 minute walk to the ferry port. A walk worth it, to take in the local sights, way of life and living. On return despite I suspect no guests, the gates were still open, jobs being done to keep on top of maintenance, and happy for us to use the pool toilet facilities before we were on our way.

Couldn't fault it!

Clean, well maintained and modern place with private pool; proper hot shower with shampoo and hair conditioner, Tv and AC worked perfectly. We asked to provide us with breakfast 1h earlier than it's normally served and they didnt make a problem of it. Highly reccomend!

- The hotel's location gives a scary movie's vibe, especially if walking in the dark. When walking down the streets to reach the place, I thought i was scammed as there's no way it could be a hotel somewhere around. Unpaved, dark and dirty road was gladly only misleading. - Hotel is quite pricey, you can get cheaper accomodation in Holbox. - no restaurants close by (unless with car) so being snacks

The staff was great. Breakfast was simple but done to order. We stayed here in order to facilitate catching the ferry to Isla Holbox. It was to be 12-13 walk to the dock. But the streets were so bad with mud and potholes it was not even walkable. The owner gave us a ride in his personal car which we are very grateful

Everything with the hotel was as described. Not a luxury hotel, just simple housing. It was the roads that were just a mess.

Clean. Fresh coffee in the morning. The room was small but had the basics with an air conditioner and a refrigerator.

It had rained the day before, and the town had lots of muddy potholes in the roads. The hotel is a few blocks from the main road, and many of the roads are not paved. Our car was a muddy mess when we arrived at the hotel. We recommend a four wheel drive or jeep for this area, especially if it’s raining.

Exceptional staff. Shirleen was super helpful! Friendly owner who is ready to go extra mile to make your stay comfortable. What a great little oasis in the middle of Chiquilá. Our room was 8 and it had two double beds, AC, Fridge Tv etc. breakfast was great and made fresh. WiFi was great! Staff even helps in tours etc to Holbox. You can walk to ferry station. Get your food ordered to hotel. Parking is right outside the hotel and lots of spaces. I loved our stay!

The roads leading to the hotel needs repairing but that’s no fault of the hotel. Overall village needs road construction.

We had a flight that came into Cancun in the evening and decided to stay in Chiquila for one night before going to Isla Holbox. This little hotel was the PERFECT pit stop! The grounds are nice, the room and other areas very clean, very peaceful. Orlando, the manager, went beyond our expectations and greeted us the night we came in at 9:30pm with a smile and showed us to our room. He was very friendly and helpful the following day and took us to the ferry when we were ready to go. Don’t miss the breakfast….it’s so good! We had fresh fruit, ham and cheese omelet cooked to perfection, etc. The young lady cooking our breakfast did an exceptional job. If you have time and are not in a rush to get to Holbox, I would highly recommend staying here for a night to rest up and not be overly tired when you arrive in paradise. I’m not sure what the hot water would be like for a shower, but I did wash my face and the pressure was strong.

Where do I start?! My friend and were supposed to be spending 3 nights in Holbox, but due to the flooding, which stranded us in our hotel of an evening, along with the unbearable smell of rotting sea grass, we cut our Holbox trip short and decided to finish our holiday in Chiquila. We picked Villas Ixchel and are so, so glad we did. It was the nicest place we stayed in two weeks that covered stops in Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen. It is like an oasis in a quiet and lovely little town. The warmest of welcomes from the owner, Orlando-who shared his delicious barbecue with us, a peaceful setting with a lovely pool and a friendly cat to play with. The room was spotless, great shower and sky tv. The bed was so comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. I honestly can't thank Orlando and his family enough for such a friendly and relaxed environment to stay, and his generosity in driving us into town to catch our bus to the airport. Brilliant!

That we couldn't stay longer!

I booked Villas Ixchel as part of a contingency plan. I was heading for Holbox Island and a storm arrived on the day of my ferry crossing, There was a chance that the ferry service would be halted for the evening so I booked this hotel in Chiquila just in case. I managed to get the last ferry before services were suspended so I never used the property. However I communicated with them to explain what was going on and their communication was excellent. They totally understood the situation and were very helpful.

The staff were great, so kind and responsive. Our flight and taxi were delayed getting there but they waited up for us to check in. Breakfast was lovely. Great price, large portions (we shared one between 2 and still had leftovers). Rooms were clean, bed was comfy. We were only there to sleep before heading to Holbox, it was perfect for what we needed.
