Andrea, the owner, is amazing! So helpful and kind! Ask her for advice and tips :) Room is great, clean and comfortable. The place has kind of a hostel vibe in that there is a small kitchen in the lobby where you run into the other guests, as well as the staff. So if you wish to be social you’ve come to the right place. Complementary coffee is a big plus! Location is good, 10 mins walk to the beach and about the same to the main street.

You can hear ALL the noise from outside (at least in the rooms with balcony) but you are supplied with ear plugs, which helped a lot! Everything else has been great!

This place is amazing! The room was clean, nice and comfortable. In Mexico, budget stays can be very different, but this one was really good. The location was perfect, very close to the famous street and the beach, but far enough to be quiet and peaceful. There were shops nearby, and every morning we had delicious coffee, honestly, one of the best I’ve ever had! But the best part was the host - Andrea, such a wonderful and warm person! She was very friendly, always ready to help and shared many great tips and stories about Mexico. When we said goodbye, it felt like we were old friends. The atmosphere was so special that after leaving, we decided to come back and stay again. If you are looking for a place with a soul, Rodina is the perfect choice! ♥️

My husband and I booked Rodina as it was the only property that stood out in the under ~30USD/day budget that we were looking for! It was a great bang for our buck in the sense that it had a lovely bohemian chic interior, free good coffee, an outdoor pool, nice and firm mattress, good air-conditioning, and only a 10 mins walk to the 5th avenue. Andrea, who's the co-owner of the hotel, was a lovely person to hang with and get all the Playa del Carmen travel tips from! Edgar from the staff was also very sweet and helpful. They even let us an check-in early and check-out later flexibly. Also, excellent communication since the time of booking till arrival!

I just wish their staircase that winds up till the first floor had wider steps at the top. It gets a bit narrow there. :)

Really friendly team that manage the hotel - Andrea and her team were great at communication and always looking to ensure we had a brilliant time. The hotel is small, which is really nice, and located away from the noise and bustle of the main Quinta Avenida strip. It has a lovely small pool, although we didn’t use it as we went to the public beach Playa 38. The team actively sought our feedback on how the experience could be improved for future guests, which is always a great thing. The commentary water and coffee in the reception was a nice touch, and everywhere was kept really clean.

Unfortunately and totally out of the hotel’s control, one of the local neighbours has a couple of noisy dogs who come alive at around 9pm to midnight. The hotel provides ear plugs to help combat this.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the room was very comfortable for our four night stay. The air-con was great but we didn’t really need it, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. The TV and awesome wifi made for relaxing rainy afternoons when going outside wasn’t particularly fun. Hot water, and felt very safe and secure behind two key-code doors. Some great food options nearby.

A little street noise some nights but nothing too disruptive, and still much quieter than other streets.

Fantastic location, easy to walk everywhere. Cute little hotel with lovely decor. It was a nice comfortable place to sleep. We spent our day out exploring town. The host was really lovely and sent some great advice on restaurants in the area, she was really responsive and helpful, easy to contact via whatsapp. We only stayed 2 nights and it was very comfortable.

If staying for a longer time it would probably be worth booking one of the rooms with a balcony and window. The room we had was totally fine for our short stay, but without any window to the outside it was very dark in the day and not the type of place you'd want to just relax in when tired from being out exploring.

We stayed over a week in one of the suites. There's no reception desk, but if needed, we could easily message the host and she was answering quickly. The place was also really clean. Air conditioning was working properly.

The only thing negative that I would mention is that the door of our room was right in front of the street. It didn't always felt safe and it was pretty noisy (dog barking, car, etc.). But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We loved the contactless check in and the location of the apartment. It's away from the noise of 5th Avenue but within close walking distance. It was also easy to walk to the public beaches. We had no trouble finding parking for our rental car outside the hotel. We really appreciated the cutting board, knives, utensils, plates, and bowls provided so we could prepare some of our own food. The room itself was very comfortable and the whole hotel is clean and aesthetically pleasing. We had the fortune of meeting the owner during our short stay and loved talking to her. This is truly a gem for the price and location!

Cozy spotless room, lovely inner court, quiet and has everything you need for a short stay. Very nice people working there in the morning. Don't miss the street food stall around the corner (take right at the hotel street and then take a left and walk a few blocks) - it's incredible. We didn't go to the beach club as it's not our thing.

Nothing, but I want to emphasize that there's no elevator and reception: you self check in and manage on your own. We are used to it, so it's not a problem for us though.

Loved the staff. The owner has put her soul into keeping this place neat. Exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I love self check in hotels for anytime check-in. I suggest if you want bigger rooms book the ones with balcony. Their studio is on ground floor which is accessible. It’s good location for Playa De Carmen with 5th avenue and beaches in walking distance. Bed and bathroom were clean. Parking is on the road in front of the hotel. It’s not reserved. But was always available. There are restaurants, markets, ATMs around the hotel.

Everything was great! Couple of different pillow options would be nice in the room. From thicker ones to flat.
