The location is wonderful, lovely beach right in front of your room, nice pool and a deck on the cliffs to watch the sunrise. The room was very big, clean and comfortable.

The wifi was not great.

The workers were so welcoming and helpful. Our concierge, Santiago, got in touch well before our arrival to ask if we needed help scheduling anything. He said hello ever day and we felt well taken care of. There is a security guard and we had absolutely no safety concerns during our 9 days stay. The beach was just lovely, with soft white sand, but do be aware there are sharp rocks in the surf (old coral?) so bring water shoes if you plan to wade in. There are very good restaurants anytime of the day. We frequented Mina's (right on the beach) and Potheads just half a block away. There were others within a few blocks and we had only good experiences. There also are plenty of little boutiques and a few pop-up shops for kitschy souvenirs. We were told shopping is better at Tulum Zona Hoteleria, north a few miles. We had the best housekeeping service I've ever experienced, and my room was spotless each day. Also, they left plenty of purified bottled water in the room, as well as a full teapot and a nice selection of teas. If you want a Nespresso maker, just ask. I also liked having the little refrigerator. I know they didn't want people eating in the rooms, but I enjoyed being able to have milk with my morning tea/coffee. I really appreciated that evening quiet time was observed. People enjoyed partying on the beach and in the outdoor bar/restaurant, and there were a few weddings. However, at 10pm the noise stopped (11pm on the weekend) so everyone could get a good night's sleep. Mina restaurant, while not officially part of Maria del Mar, is attached to the hotel. The food is excellent, and the servers (especially Santiago!) were so nice, very friendly and wanting people to enjoy themselves. Try the tempura fish tacos! Pro-tip: Drinks were expensive, so check prices before you spend the day running up a bar bill!

Very comfortable rooms, nice pool and access to a beautiful beach on each side of the hotel. The hotel is connected to the next door restaurant that also caters for you in the pool and beach area. Great place for spotting some wildlife like pelicans, iguanas, racoons and even monkeys :D

The lighting in the room was very dimmed which made it difficult to read in the evening.

I loved the staff. They were all so friendly, helpful and professional. Our room was spectacular with panaramic views of the ocean and the pool and garden area. We had a beautiful patio with a little pool and outdoor bed. It was a great place to spend some quiet time. The beach was lovely and the restaurant beside us was wonderful. They have a great chef and Santiago, the waiter, always had a welcoming smile on his face. We celebrated our birthdays there and the hotel surprised us with a nice bottle of wine. The restaurant beside us, Mina, gave us the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted. The concierge, Santiago, was helpful in arranging a great snorkeling trip and our transportation to and from Tulum and Cancun Airport. We will definitely come back to this gem of a place.

Great property, amazing pool, great location with several chill restaurants and shops very close by. Only bummer was that the beach was not very swimmable due to high surf (maybe this is seasonal, but just 1.5 hours north the surf was much calmer even though the wind was similar) and there was a lot of seaweed, but that’s also seasonal I guess. Anyway, the pool made up for it. The lounges and cabanas were nice. Most of the staff were very friendly—one guy checked in several times to be see if we needed anything. We didn’t eat at the restaurant. We were seated on the patio by the street to have drinks one evening and nobody came back to take our order so we went elsewhere. Very little lighting in the room for reading at night. No hot water our first night, but was fixed quickly when we told someone the next day.

Our stay at Maria Del Mar was nothing short of amazing. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. The cleaning staff did an incredible job at maintaining our room throughout the stay. Our personal concierge, Santiago, was extremely friendly and helpful, providing us with restaurant and activity recommendations and helping us to book reservations. Sergio, and the reception staff were also fantastic, and who helped us to negotiate and book safe local taxis. This property is also within a 20-25 minute walk to the Jaguar park entrance that provides a shuttle to the Maya ruins archaeological site which is a must visit on your stay. We would highly recommend others to Maria Del Mar if you are looking for a hotel in a great location that is peaceful at night with private beach access, friendly staff, and clean rooms with beautiful views.

The property is very small and quiet - away from all of the clubbing and loud music but close enough to get to via taxi when you want to. It sits on a private cove which is very relaxing and the staff is wonderful. Santiago at the front desk and Santiago at Mina were so kind and great familiar faces each day.

This is our 2nd year at this property and the outdoor furniture took a bit of a beating in the year since we were last here. Still nice but just general maintenance of chairs and umbrellas would be good. All other aspects of the property are very well kept up- rooms, pool, beach etc.

I had a wonderful stay at Maria del Mar in Tulum! My room had a stunning sea view that made waking up each morning feel like a dream. The on-site restaurant served delicious food, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well-made the cocktails were — balanced, flavorful, and with just the right kick. What really made the experience special, though, was the staff. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

the only problem was the seaweed in the sea and on the beach. I understood that this is the problem in April.

The staff are all very nice, friendly and sincere about making their Guests comfortable and happy. The location is so beautiful, with a stunning natural beach and dramatic views of the Gulf from the clifftop vantage point.

The only small critique would be the lack of proper shade from the wooden umbrellas and lounge structures facing the beach. They simply need to be covered with some natural material that blocks the sun properly (like Palm fronds from the trees on the property). I'm confident the property managers will take some action on this idea soon.

The room was very beautiful, great view and a private little pool. Everything was clean and the staff helped us book a transportation back to the airport. The restaurant (Mina) was very good, but a bit expensive for the portions you get.

They have a rule that you cannot bring any food or drinks to your room. We only bought WATER because we wanted to have something to drink during the night. The staff member told us that that was not possible because of this rule. I told him that this wouldn‘t make any stains whatsoever and that we needed water (also because it was 33°C). After a 5 minute discussion he let me keep it. I think it was a bit rude to get people to buy the drinks from the mini bar. They have to rethink this, also because there aren‘t a lot of restaurants around the hotel. We wanted to order food to eat in our room but it was not possible (because of the rule) so we had to get a taxi to a different restaurant. Other than that, everything was perfect and everyone was very nice!
