As for this money I didn’t expect so much but this place was super nice. Location was amazing. 15 mins from ADO bus station. 5mins to 7-eleven and OXXO. And few minutes to the Main Street where you can find some restaurants and clubs. Also 5mins walk to collectivo stop in case you would like to see ruins (also not far to walk) go to Akumal or Playa del Carmen. At night it was really quiet, bed was really comfortable so it was possible to get some good sleep. Lockers were big enough to put a backpack in them also lock is provided. AC was working all night. Also receptionist was so nice and helpful. WiFi was good too.

There are not enough lockers for everyone. In the female dorm there are 4 lockers even though they have 6 beds. There also is no key to the room, the door just always stays open.

Staff were friendly, clear and very accommodating & helpful. They charge a cash deposit on arrival and return it on departure without even being asked (as long as you've not damaged anything of course). Dorms were spacious & clean, and beds have good quality sheets, charging points, a reading light and a fan. Showers are good. The rooftop kitchen has lots of fridge space and enough pans etc, and the pool was exactly as in the photo. Rooftop wifi was good. Location is close to shops & supermarket - ideal for budget travellers who need to cook for a while - and also close to good street tacos & an easy walk into central Tulum town if you want to go out. Also it's only 1 block from the highway, so it's easy to get there (and out) on collectivos if you don't have huge bags. I was looking for somewhere chill and comfortable, and was happy to find that here. I would definitely go back.

Wifi didn't stretch to rooms (or at least not 301). Pillows were clean & fine really, but weirdly small. Everything else was great.

Everything was perfect for me : Moonshine is a perfect place to chill out with a beautiful pool on the rooftop, a commun kitchen. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very kind and always helpful. Close to the restaurants, shops, supermarket, yoga classes (Om Collectivo) it is easy to go everywhere by walk or transportation. I booked originally for 4 days and I stayed 25 days

Location was very good. Safe, clean & quiet hostel to stay for a couple days or even for longer visits. Nice design of the building, loved the rooftop area with the pool and the communal kitchen. Comfortable bunk beds with separate fans, little head light, charging points inside & the thick curtain for your own privacy. Loved that it was extremely quiet for Tulum at night. So after 4 months of travelling I had an amazing nights of sleep in that hostel. And of course due to that being the reason I extended my stay. The hostel has 24h security. It is fairly cheap to stay!! Not a party hostel!!! Which was great for me. And of course the staff was extremely friendly & welcoming. Keep doing what you are doing and big Thank You for everything & all you do :)

Wifi was ok when I arrived. But kept cutting on and off from the 2'nd day and nights onward. So as that is a necessity for me as for many of us who need to do their work online I did not extend from after Cafeteria which was told to be open during the week days I saw never open even once. Pool area is a very nice and relaxing space to chill, eat and meet other travellers. But the pool itself didn't feel inviting for me due to the water being smurky and not so clean. But that could be an easy fix to upgrade the stay for new visitors.

Generally it’s a great place. Accommodating staff, functional kitchen, super chill if that’s what you’re looking for and always playing great tunes! Super grateful for the complementary water and the dog is the cutest. Love the little fan by the bed to get rid of the mosquitoes. Also it’s right near the big supermarket which is great and I loved being 3 mins walking from Om Collective yoga

Needs more forks in the kitchen! I suspect past guests have been taking them. The strictness on no visitors is kinda sad. Getting down from the top bunk feels precarious. The fridge could definitely do with being fully cleared out and deep cleaned

just pay 30 pesos for free refill for your whole stay (Save plastic bottles!) friendly guy receptionist, clean hostel, kitchen, pool and toilet. what you see is what is in real life. personal fan in the beds with curtains on all sides, perfect privacy!

a little hot in the evening since they only turn on the aircon at night! a little far from city center but its close to the giant supermarket the whole town goes to so. small to medium sized lockers provided, but no locks from front of hostel to the room as the room door cant be locked.

The rooftop pool, kitchen and social area is really good. Staff super friendly and helpful too

1 toilet/ shower room for a 12 bed dorm isn't enough. Should be 2 or 3 for that many beds, or at least separate rooms so you can use the toilet when someone is in the shower. Also the light didn't work on my bunk (reported to reception for maintenance) so I had to struggle with phone torch when the main lights were off at night and in the morning. Everything else was great

Clean, wifi worked well, well equipped kitchen, a pool on the rooftop, hot shower with strong pressure, each bed with curtains, a fan, sockets and comfortable mattress. En-suite bathroom in the female dorm. AC was on from 9pm to next morning. Free drinking water. Close to supermarkets and quite near ADO terminal. Friendly staff - especially the girl at the reception, she gave useful information to help me travel on a budget! One hour walk to the free beaches like Playa Las Palmas, better do it in early morning (don’t take the route that is via Tulum ruins, they will charge 58 pesos just to enter the area of the national park).

Only four lockers for six beds. Quite a few mosquitoes in the room, they usually stayed by the sink or in the bathroom.

I have been travelling for 2 months in Mexico and this hostel has been by far the best nights sleep. It is so quiet at night in the women’s dorm and the beds are so comfy, with curtains, a night light & a seperate fan making it super comfortable and private! Alex the manager is so lovely. He is always willing to help whenever he can and he takes pride in the hostel & the room is always clean. It’s also right next to Super Aki a massive supermarket so perfect for getting your groceries & not having to pay for a taxi to bring them back! Overall it’s a great bargain for downtown Tulum!

I loved everything about it! The only thing worth mentioning is the kitchen is 3 floors up… I only say this as I have chronic fatigue & maybe useful if anyone has knee issues etc but otherwise it’s great to get some exercise and the kitchen has a great view for sunset! 👌
