Super close to bars, restaurants, cute boutiques and pharmacies. The bar on site was amazing. Great service and drinks. The main road is so lively and lit at night. Very pretty. Our kids had a blast being so close to water and being able to go in when ever they wanted.

Everything was great and I wouldn't say this is something I didn't like, because we were on the beach, but the sand. The "backyard" is literally sand and ocean. There was sand everywhere and I felt like I was always covered in it. Housekeeping was awesome they cleaned everyday (our preference) so even though we felt like we always had sand, our rooms were always clean.

I loved my stay at the Playa Canek Hotel! I stayed in the penthouse which felt like a treat! The hotel is well kept, and has a great bohemian feel. The staff was the best! Aranza at the front desk is so kind and helpful. The vibes at the beach bar were great with good music, with a fun bartender Gonzalo. The driver Rafael was super, taking me to Cenotes each day. The hotel is located near a lot of shops, places to eat, and near the heartbeat of Tulum. I highly recommend this hotel. I will certainly be coming back. Thanks!!!

There was a lot of kelp at this time of year. And unfortunately the property next door was under construction.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Great value to money. The staff is beautiful and super kind. Everyone deserves a raise, but specially Paulina, Aranza, Alex, Dario and Suemy Loved this experience, will definitely come back! PS: make Paulina manager ;)

The only thing I would improve is the lights outdoors (it gets too dark by the beach when the sun goes down) and improve a bit the quality of the rooms (which will allow the hotel to increase prices)

The beach location was amazing, the staff was wonderful, and the beds and accommodations were comfortable. There was an error with our booking, and the hotel upgraded us to solve the issue, which was very much appreciated.

For the hotel itself, before booking it's important to understand this is an eco hotel - that's ecology/environment, not economic/cheap. This seems to be common in Tulum, as the overall infrastructure hasn't caught up to the demand. The hotel uses solar power and external water sources - which caused some issues during our stay, but nothing that wasn't addressed or overcome. We understood the AC was only available 8pm-8am, but having a fan standard in the room would have been appreciated. Not related to the hotel, but anyone considering a vacation to Tulum - especially during busy season - should be aware of the infrastructure limitations, the traffic jams, and the higher-than-expected costs of goods and services.

The property is located directly on the beach and in a quiet section of the hotel zone. The beach is beautiful. The beach bar serves delicious food and cocktails. You must try the Mezcalitas! The decor is beautiful. The staff are so friendly and helpful!!! Breakfast each morning was simple and delicious. Tons of restaurant options within walking distance. WiFi worked well when on property.

One of our rooms did not have AC one night and the rooms do not have TVs which was fine with us but could be surprising for others. Just remember it’s an eco friendly hotel.

What didn’t we like!? the young man at the front desk (Mano/spelling?) Loves what he does and it shows through in his warm, genuine, and welcoming approach. Paulina at the bar is the same way. Very open, warm, and genuine in her approach. The area is beautiful and tucked away just enough to give privacy. While being close enough to walk to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. The beach is incredible! We walked it and ate fresh coconuts from the trees, swam, and relaxed. I would recommend renting a car. The drive to downtown Tulum is fairly short and having a car saves money and opens the door to cenotes, diving, and any other activities you’re interested in.

We loved out stay. The walk from our unit to the beach was a magical journey on a winding path of greenery and many birds and animals. The beach was gorgeous. Staff provided top notch service. The family unit was perfect for our family of 5. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast. The location was stellar! We would gladly stay again! *We even left our beach bag behind one day and were afraid it would be gone. It included our sunglasses, books, towels, snacks and even cash. We noticed hours later and here staff member Cece (not sure exactly of her name) found it and locked it away. The next day we returned and they had it secured and even the cash was still there!! We really appreciated their honesty. We ordered some items from the beach cabana and it was all delicious. They were wonderful about allowing us to park our car onsite as well. We honestly can't say enough great things about Playa Canek!!

As stated in the listing, the place is run on solar power. During the day there often would be no lights and very little running water. So an afternoon shower was not really possible. The unit wouldn't have daytime AC. It wasn't an issue as we were aware in the listing info.

The hotel is in a fantastic spot on the hotel road along the beach, It is perfectly situated in the quieter section but close enough to walk to the central area. The staff were AMAZING and one of the highlights of the experience, from the reception to the bar all the way to the wonderful owner, Bruno. Bruno and his crew made the trip. It was like staying with a family and nothing was too much trouble. He would even run us into town in his car to avoid expensive taxis. Great vacation, great hotel.

Perfect location. Spacious rooms. Good beach bar. The staff went above and beyond. I would return to this property simply because Paulina and Leo provided such excellent service.

It was low season and the restaurant was not open; however, Leo still managed to make us a wonderful breakfast every morning.

Good to be away from the main/busy area but is still walkable at night. Great the staff let us check in super late. The beach front is a hidden gem!

As with most places in Tulum, is was more expensive than other places we stayed in Mexico but this place offers good value for money!
