October 2025

We stayed at Road Dar El Assafir for 5 nights (October 2025). The Riad is out of the city centre a bit.. on a quiet well lit street (but still within the city walls) It’s about a 15 min walk to the main square. The Riad has beautiful traditional architecture & greenery. We enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable & cleaned daily, fresh towels when needed. The daily breakfast included was great (warm bread & jam/honey, yoghurt, coffee, juice, pancakes, omelette) and we had a favourite table by the pool. The Riad was quiet except the birds wake up call about 7am. The best thing by far about Assafir are the staff. We must give shout out to Omar and Rida, who were exceptional & couldn’t do enough for us, making us VERY welcome, we felt at home! Rida’s mum, Racida prepared the lovely breakfast & all the staff were smiley, friendly and welcoming.

A couple of times the shower was cold early morning (due to solar panel heating system)

We stayed here three times for a total of seven nights over a period of two weeks in Sep 2025. This is a quiet Riad, surprisingly so given its proximity to major roads within the north-western medina. Exceptional staff with fantastic command of English (as well as French, Spanish and how many more? 😁). They gave us great recommendations for visits and restaurants. Great breakfast, great pool, excellent Aircon in rooms. Clean, spacious and welcoming. Rooms are set around two open squares: one with the pool and the other a garden with aviary (where breakfast is served). Service was excellent. WiFi good coverage. They kindly looked after our suitcase while we set off back-packing to other areas / cities for a few days. Close enough for walking (20 minutes) into the main square and (30 minutes) to the Yves St Laurent museum. It is in a great location. We will certainly stay here again if we come back to Marrakech.

Can't think of anything significant to mention.

I visited for 4 nights and was hosted by Omar and Rida, along with the other staff. The place was very close to the medina and the staff go above and beyond to help you. They helped with taxi booking and finding different places to explore. They were really friendly and made our stay amazing. The riad itself was also very beautiful and peaceful to relax at. I would definitely recommend.

Riad is easy to find so I’d book my own transport from airport in future as they forget to send a taxi and I was waiting a while ( taxi have fixed price from airport so easy to book once there), but the service once I got there was amazing and they where able to arrange a taxi for me to head back to airport and even let me leave my bags at the place until my flight.

This is the perfect oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. Myself and my 14 year old daughter were welcomed and genuinely looked after. From the moment we arrived Omar & Zayden looked after us and gave the best tips and advice. Nothing was ever too much and service was 5*. Our room was huge and had everything needed to make our stay perfect. I'll never forget opening the antique doors on to the courtyard each day. Breakfast was just perfect with freshly squeezed OJ and home made pancakes! I felt very special each morning to have the table already dressed and waiting for us. The property is perfectly positioned to be so close to all the main sights without being in the hustle of it all. Restaurants and shop within walking distance and close to the airport too. I can't recommend this property enough and I for sure will be back. Thank you for making our trip special. Xx

That we had to leave so soon. I would have liked to have stayed longer.

Very accessible for taxi and is 4 minutes walk to plenty of restaurants and shops but not close to any direct loud location. The road is split into two sections with two beautiful patios, one with a small swimming pool as the other with songbirds in a large cage, hence the name "Assafir" (songbird). We had room no 6, which was located on the 1st floor, and plenty of room and privacy in authentic scenery. The staff was helpful as the first arrival to the Medina might be confusing. Breakfast is typical local and is sweet.

For a late wake-up person, it will get noisy from all the birds singing in the early morning - very noisy. The bathroom could have been more maintained - the toilette seat is not fixed to the floor, but I understand it could be typical...

Location was excellent: quiet area, 10-15 minutes walk to the centre and hustle bustle. Breakfast was good but some variety was desirable. When we requested, they complied. Rida and his mother took excellent care of us. Rida was most considerate and guided us very well on everything from buying mobile accessories, to site seeing, eating places, exchanges, routes, etc and especially saving us from scams. We took 3 rooms for the family. Our children had a fantastic suite on the ground floor. He made the evening lounge accessible for our family and made us feel at home. Jibril, the manager, was most considerate on all our requests, be it drinking water or ironing. The greenery in the Riad is fantastic. I just wish that they kept the swimming pool clean all the time.

Rooms were generally quiet but the parakeets wake up early and the chairs being dragged around on the terrace at breakfast time would wake anybody up. While Rida was wonderful, the other gentleman who serves the customers in the Riad was obnoxious and rude and had an attitude problem. We preferred to deal with Rida. The room we were in was very shoddy - requires upkeep and maintenance, for e.g. fittings/ door handles falling off. The shower gel was not very nice and you had to request for refill every day.

great Riad, charming interior, welcoming staff, lovely big rooms, cascade of tropical plats in the courtyard hosts lots of birds. Lovely house cat name Eros who came to visit and hangout.... staff could not do enough for you - small oasis from outside!

it's not a complaint - but if you are not a walker then you may want to be a bit more central - but we found the location perfect - 15 minute walk to central souks, easy access all the way around - and for heading to locations a bit further - easy access of taxis!

This was the most gorgeous property we stayed at in our time in Morocco. The courtyard and garden were stunning and the service was amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They helped us with bags and also gave us great recommendations for food and other activities. This was also one of the safest riad’s we stayed at. They had cameras outside and a heavy bolted door at the entrance that required you to ring the bell before entering. The rooms were incredibly spacious and clean. I can’t recommend this place enough!!

Beautiful riad, such a calm space in chaos of the city. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff also are so friendly and kind, they really helped us when my partner was unwell, brought tea etc. The breakfast on the roof terrace is also very nice. There are stairs, as with all the riads we stayed in Morocco. We had our own UK car with us and their parking is great. It is as close as you can get really to the old part of the Medina with a car, but down a quiet side street so very private. If anyone is doing a driving trip to Morocco (or just looking for a nice riad) I would happily recommend this one.

The property is in a good location. About a 12 minute walk to the main market. The ambiance inside was lovely. Beautiful greenery and birds. There is a pool but we didn't use it. We were only there for one night but Omar took great care of us. He arranged our taxi to dinner and helped us with our luggage for our tour early the next morning. His colleauge accommodated our early departure with breakfast as well. We had the suite with the terrace area overlooking the pool.

A little pricey but a one night stay but worth it if you stay longer.
