I feel lucky to have found this place for my stay in Amsterdam. I wanted to stay within 3 km (1.8 miles) from Amsterdam Centraal, for I was traveling by train and I had planned to visit many of those "tourist" destinations. Meanwhile, I wanted to have some true "Amsterdam" feel of staying by the canal, and there we go I found A B&B Amsterdam! There was much more than the unbeatable location about A B&B Amsterdam. The place is located 5 stops (10 minutes) away by tram from Amsterdam Centraal on Line 4; 30-second walk from the Prinsengracht station on Line 4. Stayed on the first floor (European system), enjoyed the beautiful view of the canal day and night. Located by the main streets with nice restaurants, cafés and bars with a great vibe, meaning I had plenty of options to choose from, although it also meant I should expect some noise from the street until very late. I was able to go everywhere easily on foot or by tram from Dam Square, Rembrandt Square to Rijksmuseum Museum and Van Gogh Museum, to 9 Streets and the zoo during my 4-day stay. The owner Willem was super friendly and willing to help with anything I would need; plus, two kitties are adorable!

As some people have mentioned, the place has very steep stairs but was not a problem especially Willem helped with luggage.

Willheim was very accommodating. It was quite warm while we were there and he got a fan, made sure it was cleaned really well and delivered it to our room. He also gave us a little baggie of laundry detergent when I enquired where there was a laundromat. Willheim was readily available to answer questions as well. A Lovely stay. The 2 cats were adorable but just know you are living in their house and they will visit. But you could put them out. I loved having Max around occasionally.

A microwave would have been nice and somone else mentioned comfy chairs at the bay window. The canal view is gorgeous and would have been nice to have 2 small but comfortable chairs to have a drink in your room but there are nice places to sit at the restaurants right down on the street.

During our time in Amsterdam, my husband and I were overwhelmed by the kindness of the people, which began with our stay at a B&B. Willem greeted us as soon as we got out of our cab and assisted us with our luggage up the very steep winding stairs to the third floor. He showed us how to do it as easily as possible and it helped a lot! We had the upper room bedroom, and our bathroom was up another flight of stairs. Both rooms were comfortable, spacious, and light-filled. Climbing the stairs in the middle of the night was not ideal, but it added to the charm of our stay. We enjoyed sitting in the little bedroom nook overlooking the canal. Willem and his friends often sit in front of the house in the evenings with some wine and cheese. They graciously invited us to join in their conversation. It was wonderful to meet many of his neighbors and friends. The neighborhood is a bit removed from some of the main tourist areas, but also has several fantastic restaurants within a short walk, and the entire city is very walkable. I suggest renting a bike from Black Bikes around the corner. But be careful, biking is serious business in Amsterdam.

We enjoyed everything about our stay. Some people complain about the stairs, and they are steep. But my husband and I were able to get our 100 pounds of luggage up there with little difficulty, and Willem assisted. I think it added to the charm of our stay.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Williem, who is very pleasant to talk to. If you’re a cat person like me, don’t miss out on this place. Max is such a sweetheart, always greeting me at the door and rubbing on me for attention. Puck is a shy tortie girl, but she let me pet her. If you visit, please be kind to the cats as they truly make this place special. The stairs are quite steep, not a flaw, but part of what gives this historic building (built in 1692!) so much personality. Just something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues.

That I can't take Max with me

Everything! The comfort and coziness of the room, it was in a great spot for all the tours we wanted to do. The location could not be better for wat we needed: in the centre, in front of a canal and still quiet during the night. William, the host, was brilliant, he was always checking if we needed anything and that everything was going perfect. Thanks for making our stay memorable!

We loved everything and for next time back we are going to try to get the same apartment.

Very lovely apartment with all amenities you need. Perfect for couples, romantic views over the canal. The bathroom has an unique design. People who like to take long relaxative baths will enjoy it. Willem the host is very helpful and detailed oriented guy. You will feel like home. The center is 20 minutes walk, but you can take the tram if you wish, which is 1 minutes walk from the apartment. The neighborhood has a lot of restaurants and bars. Bloemenmarkt is 5 minutes away.

Absolutely loved staying in Willem’s place in Amsterdam. Beautiful location, gorgeous view of the canal and so close to amazing restaurants and transport. Willem’s cats, Max and Puck are so lovely too, nice to have a little pet during our stay.

The shower was quite open which was a bit difficult to keep water from entering the rest of the bathroom, but not a big deal at all. Stairs are a steep but that’s very normal for Amsterdam I assume.

From Amsterdam Centraal, it’s just off #4 Tram stop, so super easy location . Once settled, any POI is easily walkable. Willem was a gracious and engaging host, offering restaurant suggestions and direction’s. Max the cat was the welcome committee, greeting us every time we walked in the door. The bed is super comfy, plenty of towels, toiletries and coffee! The only suggestion I have is to have more comfortable chairs by the window. We loved having a glass of wine and watching the boats travel along the canal and people watch the restaurants below

The location of the property was excellent in a lovely street on a canal. It was lovely to open the windows onto the lively, bustling street below. Willem was an excellent host and was there to greet me and show me around. I loved being in an authentic Amsterdam dwelling rather an impersonal hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. Close to nice, local cafes and bars and far enough away from the tourists “hot spots”.

Nothing really. There was some noise from the bars below but it didn’t stop me from sleeping very soundly and it is expected in inner city areas.

Beautiful, small, picturesque apartment in a central location, next to tram stop 4. It overlooks the Prinsengrach Canal. Around the apartment there is a bar cafe and a supermarket. It's not a hotel. It has the basics for a short day stay. It does not have daily cleaning.

It takes some small interventions in the apartment to make it more comfortable. The 2 wooden doors have holes and need repair and painting. The wall behind the clothes hanger has a lot of marks and needs repainting. Sleeping pillows definitely need replacement.
