Beautiful hotel. Great staff. Great location.

During the check in process customers are required to write down (by pen) their full credit card number, including expiry date, on the same page as their address, name and birthday. For me, that's a security risk and I think the hotel needs to review this part of their check in process. They already have a credit card held on file digitally. And additionally they digitally take card details during the check in, so this writing down the number seems unnecessary as well as uncomfortable. This was my only problem during the stay.

very helpful staff. very convenient location to walk everywhere.. if you have to ride a car or a taxi, then good luck! but thatt is the general situation in Amsterdam central, not with this hotel. staff is super polite, helpful and always willing to make things right the room was good and clean, but a bit weird architecture... as soon as you enter the room, you are in the bathroom! (LoL).

my deal was bed and breakfast rate. even the bill says bed and breakfast rate, but I was told no breakfast was included Nad I'd have to pay 21 Euros for breakfast. no real issue as there are so many great breakfast options and this hotel does not even offer hot breakfast. it's just that I would have not paid the bed and breakfast rate, and told no breakfast included

The welcome was awesome! A small, healthy welcome drink, and space to rest in the lounge, plus coffee. The staff was exceptional here: super nice, informative with great recommendations and perfect service. Also, a great location.

The rooms could have been a bit bigger for 2 people, and the bathroom could have used a heated floor, or at least a rug in there. And, it was a bit dark with the modern, moody color scheme.

Varied breakfast, excellent location, pleasant staff.

We expected a view of the canal, but instead, we had a view of a wall on the ground floor. :( Our room was located under the kitchen, which we had to walk through to get to breakfast, and from 6 AM, we could hear the breakfast preparations. The bed in the middle was so worn out and soft that my partner and I kept rolling towards the center and ended up sleeping on a slanted surface. The room lighting was insufficient – it was too dark. There was also a strange requirement for a credit card number. I wanted to pay the deposit via Apple Pay, but they insisted on the exact card number, which I didn’t have physically, and Apple Pay doesn’t display it. Quite odd for a luxury hotel. In the end, it was resolved by paying in cash.

There was nothing not to like; every thing was perfect! The hotel was more like a bed and breakfast than hotel. Beautiful facility - every inch of it!

We love love the location and the ambiance + rooms. The decor is on point and the facilities are great! Diana the receptionist is the best to come inside the hotel and encounter. You’re lucky if you see her once you stay at the hotel. The back courtyard is so pretty. We unfortunately had a bad experience when we checked in. It wasn’t our first time at the hotel. We kept this booking the last one in the trip to save the best for last, we arrived tired after 2 flights to be treated badly. When we checked into our room, we realized how hot it was, we thought the heating was on but it wasn’t. The ac said it’s on but there was no air at all. The hallways and elevator felt cooler than the room. We called then went downstairs to see if there are any updates, and got the worst attitude. The deputy general manager (WILKO VAN DER VLAG) just kept replying back with a tone saying “we’re checking on it”. When we said is the ac not working? He said that we didn’t have a right to complain about the ac because it’s not in the list of facilities of the hotel, so he has the right not to turn it on. So we asked if the ac was off, no reply regarding that. We then proceeded to see if we can find a solution to that, which we got a reply of saying that if we didn’t like the room he’ll be happy to book us another hotel. Rather than being hospitable and saying he’ll find us a solution of the ac actually turns out to be broken. Once we proceeded to ask for his info to send a complaint, he offered to show us another room. We went up and the room felt soooo much cooler! It took a few minutes to actually get a solution and that hiccup ruined our night to be honest. We did not expect such treatment.

Upon entering the hotel, you are immediately immersed in the atmosphere of old Holland: beautiful paintings on the walls, antique furniture, and the entire decor instantly lifts your spirits. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is served in a wonderful hall with a view of the canal (of course!), although the service might be a bit... unhurried. I was given a room on the ground floor, which was wonderful in one way because I didn't have to climb any stairs, but on the other hand, I felt a bit self-conscious about opening the curtains, as normal street life unfolded outside and anyone could peek in. So I ended up with the curtains closed and dark room:)

My room was beautifully decorated, but it was a bit small. And dark. The bathroom has both a bathtub and a shower, which makes it quite cramped overall. The bar closes at 11 PM, and it would have been nice if someone had informed us about it five minutes earlier and asked if we wanted to order anything else.

We loved everything about our 3 night stay at Canal House. The location is perfect - right on the canal and walkable to so many points of interest. Just around the corner is the Anne Frank House. We boarded canal boat tour boats here also. Tons of nice cafes and restaurants in this neighborhood as well. Our room (#5) was absolutely perfect/ giant windows overlooking the canal, super comfortable bed and a bathroom with both a tub and a shower. The best part was the lovely staff. Eduardo was so very helpful and makes delicious drinks. The young man who does the breakfast bar was wonderful. The food was freshly prepared each morning with a lovely presentation. We were sad to leave!

I loved everything about the Canal House.

The interior design, the bed was super comfy and our room had direct access to the garden. The staff were all very helpful and informative.

No restaurant other than for breakfast purposes. The dining area and bar area very cold. A little further out of the main square than thought but enjoyed the ‘dry’ walk. Church nearby has bells on the hour and half hour if you’re not a heavy sleeper ear plugs maybe needed.

We loved the location of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the staff very friendly, courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend hotel location to anyone. We even walked from the hotel to the museums and explored the other streets on walk back to the hotel daily.

Lighting in the room was an issue as it was either use the lamps in the room which made the room rather dark. Alternative was turn on the overhead lights which made the room so bright. The lighting was blinding and harsh. Not pleasant at all.
