This was an incredible place to stay. Wasn't what we were expecting but it exceeded expectations. The staff were absolutely wonderful to talk to and couldn't be more helpful. We appreciated the local information they shared about the area and also info on places we were travelling to next. It was just an exceptional experience, thank you so much.

The only thing we could pick on out of our stay was our rooms shower leaked out from the shower area. It appears the water pressure (which was amazing) is too much for the shower head to handle and it leaks out the side of the shower head and down the wall. Just a little thing, definitely didn't ruin our stay, just needs looking at. And no curtain or blind on the bathroom window (and no frosted glass). I'm a prude so I hung my coat up on the plastic hooks that were already there, my husband wasn't fazed by this but you could definitely see into the bathroom from out on the street if you wanted too.

We often stay here before popping over to Rakiura. The family/group who manage the property and restaurant are lovely, and the facilities are tidy and well maintained. The wifi is never particularly good, and occassionally there are communication challenges. On balance the team is welcoming and enthusiastic and the standard of food and service is very high. We will continue to visit and would definitely recommend this facility to other travellers. LOVE the zero waste sympathies in the teas and soaps etc. Very classy job on that front, we adore Zero Waste efforts and especially when they are so well executed.

The wifi is disappointing.

The host, Andy, couldn't have been more accommodating if he tried. We got in later than expected and he quickly rang the restaurant next door and arranged for them to stay open for us so we could have some delicious Bluff oysters. Andy had turned the heater on in our room, so it was nice and toasty when we got there (it was around 1° outside). It's the little things like this that can make a holiday wonderful.

The owner was v friendly and super helpful when we had a problem with our car and needed to use his phone. Great position and sea view Restaurant next store as nowhere else to eat nearby (and last orders at 730) Breakfast was ok

Slight smell of damp in bathroom Bathroom door was a concertina wood panel because the room was small and wouldn’t accommodate a proper door opening into bedroom - it squeaked and was difficult to shut fully

We had the family suite for 2 . It was a real surprise - spacious , immaculately clean and really well decorated . Andy was delightful at check in and as it was a Tuesday night eating out options were limited so he suggested if we got take away we could sit in the lounge area and use the breakfast tables in front of the fire. Breakfast was also good- simple but well done . It was very comfortable.

The shower was great but water leaked out onto the floor area - needs to be redesigned.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about this property, the management or the location. A good getaway spot. We lucked out with sunshine and warm weather. In stormy weather, this spot might be quite a different place. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate and well-appointed. The room had stunning views and we did book the room for the views. We hiked a part of the trail and enjoyed the remoteness of the area. We ate at the Oyster Cove Restaurant next door. It offered a simple menu and the dishes were well-prepared. It does close early so call ahead to reserve.

No issues.

Location was spectacular. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a view of the sea from our second floor room named Clove Hitch (stairs only). Breakfast was delicious, hot choices and cold.

There was a bad smell in our room that seemed a little “pooey.” They had an air freshener machine going in the hallway. Hopefully temporary, but it caused me to drop the ratings a little. No other room available.

Great views from the room and breakfast lounge. Great service from Andy, Mary and the team made it more like a B&B with family. Continental breakfast included eggs cooked to go with toast cereal and fruit. Super comfortable bed and luxe pillows.

Bathroom in room 4 we had was smaller than expected in a deluxe wording but was ok.

Comfy bed, lots of choice for making a fresh pot of tea or a pod coffee in your room and fresh milk was supplied in the fridge. The view of the sea and surrounds was fantastic from our room and also whilst we ate breakfast. The staff were lovely and were very accommodating.

Our room was on the smaller side but was okay for one night. The bathroom was also very small and the shower didn't drain very well. Other rooms may have been larger. We tried to find a place for dinner in Bluff township but everything appeared to be closed! It's a long way to drive to Invercargill for a meal. There is a restaurant next door to the hotel but it was also closed, being a Monday.

Unbeatable location, next to many walking trails. Beautiful sea view. Best hotel in Bluff. The manager and staff are very helpful.

Room is a bit small, but still very comfortable. One reception staff can't speak English, which I found very strange as this is in New Zealand. Nevertheless, great hotel, will stay here if I visit Bluff again.
