Stay 2 nights here. We arrived at the motel quite late and they prepare the key already in front of our room for late check in. Location is perfect. You can just walk to the centre. But it is just small city anyway. Restaurant is nearby. Supermarket also near too, but note they are close at 7pm. Petrol station also just next to the motel. We love our room! Just nice they provide everthing. Small kitchen to cook your food was perfect for us. They also have laundry facility with additional cost. The receptionist also friendly.

Just small issue when we were there, there's road work closure and affected the water supply to most of the area i am sure. After 1-2 hours, then back to normal :)

Staying in Franz Josef is pure bliss! Our accomodation has been a delight. 😊 The manager, Anthony went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. His team are amazing! 👏 Our room is always clean and tidy, featuring a comfortable bed. Additionally, there's a well- equipped kitchenette. The Alpine Motel is situated just a stone's throw away from town, means conveniently located. We've extended our initial 16 day stay by a week. We are still here enjoying every moment! The destination is Franz Josef and the accommodation is Alpine Motel!

Large rooms. Parking right outside each room. No central heating but had electric heating which worked well. Shower hot. Netflix app on tv. Kettle & coffee/tea. Central location with a few restaurants around. Hot tub place recommened within an easy walk or glow worms at night down a track nearby. 5 mins drive to glacier views/walks.

Large glass windows at entrance door means other guests walk past you. Must have curtains drawn all the time for privacy. Asked to wash and dry/put away everything used or will be charged a fee is a bit dramatic. I was worried to leave a spoon on the side!

Stayed two nights. Good location in centre of Franz Josef, short walking distance to everything you need - tour providers, supermarket, restaurants, petrol station, West Coast Wildlife Centre and several walking trails etc. Allocated parking, clean room, comfortable bed, hot water, decent facilities (microwave, tea and toast making facilities.) and the heater kept the room warm and toasty. Parking can be a bit tight for bigger vehicles (may require some maneuvering), but we had no issues parking a sedan.

The room was very large and exceptionally clean. Breakfast provisions were provided and it was not a problem when I asked for some gluten free bread. The breakfast provisions were plentiful and great. The room was very comfortable and there was plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was easy walking distance to everything in the main part of town.

The weather (not the hotels fault). I could not fault the hotel, however parking is quite tight.

This is a good motel in a convenient location, close to everything. The room is a nice size and comes with useful kitchenware and a small deck, which were great touches. I chose the room with a spa tub, which is really worth it, especially after a hike. While it wasn’t spotless, it was reasonably clean and comfortable overall. The WiFi could definitely use an upgrade, but considering the price I paid, I think it was well worth it.

We loved our stay! It was just what we needed, somewhere to crash before we carry on driving the west coast. The room was cosy, clean and warm. It had everything you needed. The little toiletries were lovely and the fresh milk for tea/coffee/hot chocolate! You even had a toaster and good sized fridge to make snacks. The price we paid was so affordable with parking right outside our room and even a smart tv to hook up our Netflix! Our room didn’t have a glacier view which didn’t bother us as we arrived in the dark and only stayed one night but when you walk round to where reception is you could see the Franz Josef glacier!

A lovely light filled studio room, with a single bed as well as a queen. Functional kitchenette with plug-in twin hot plates and well appointed for a comfortable over-night stay. Large wet-area shower in a big bathroom and a really nice range of toiletries available. The motel is centrally located in the town with an easy walk to eateries, bars and other tourist attractions or head-offices, to meet at before beginning your outdoor adventures of choice. Happy to recommend and return to on another occasion

Parking was a little tight when driving a larger vehicle but did appreciate having this available onsight

The rooms were spacious, warm & clean. All typical provisions were provided. Service (particularly when there was a short power outage) was prompt and complete. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Bed was comfortable. The building had been built so that every unit had a view of the nearby snow covered mountains (something that we flatlander west aussies really appreciated). Best accommodation we came across on our trip.

There wasn't a toitlet brush (but we managed!)

Everything was clean, it was well laid out, staff were very helpful, information in the unit was accurate, it was easy to move in for a single night and not have any queries about anything.

I’m quibbling really, but the outlook onto a driveway and a neighbour’s fence wasn’t the most salubrious of views, to say the least. However the price I paid didn’t really warrant me getting a better view. Having been spoiled by getting a unit in Wanaka with the most astounding views, it was just a bit of a shock, so I dealt with it by drawing the curtains almost immediately and shutting the world out.
