This motel is very spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff most friendly. The motel is right in the heart of the town where you can walk to all restaurants. We used the laundry facilities. The kiwi centre is right down the street to see kiwis. You must go to the restaurant, Alice May to find out about the history of this restaurant and who it is named after. Most interesting. We enjoyed dining at the Blue Ice bar and restaurant, Snake bite brewery, the landing and Alice May. Views of Franz Josef were awesome from our executive room which had a spacious spa bath to enjoy. Loved the Waiho Hot Tubs in town.

Really appreciated the small kitchenette and all the utensils, dishcloths, large shower with great water pressure, large size of the room and TV. Staff was helpful with suggestions of activities - including the path to view the elusive glow worms.

Only negative was pulling luggage over the larger sized loose gravel driveway to access motel rooms in the rear. I realize paving in a remote area with season ground freezing is silly. But, can’t think of a means to help here.

The unit was very spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. For example, there was no large knife in the kitchenette and they brought one over immediately. Apparently ownership changed not long ago, and they are in the process of upgrading rooms. Our room was fine. Location is great, just a few steps from restaurants and trails.

The parking arrangements were not intuitive. There was an illustration on the inside of the room, but many guests did not notice it leading to some confusion on the part of arriving guests. To their credit, staff were quite willing to help assist.

Only soft chair seating inside for two/three people. Parking right up to our room left no room to sit outside our room, and there were only two outside chairs. We were able to sit around the table in the bbq area as no-one was using it. Main lounge was a little dark.

Perfect location, walking distance to all eateries and bars, and just a block away from the gorge walk. Friendly staff and clean facility with a cheaky Kea that visits in the evening & morning!

Nothing major, but as I am on the shorter side of hights, the shower nozzel quite didn't work for me (water went everywhere before it reached me). My taller husband said it worked fine for him.

Loved my room. So big, spacious and comfortable. My bed was like a cloud. Checkin process really easy and very friendly. No airconditioning in the room, but when I asked for a fan one was supplied for me. Very impressed by that. I opened the windows and used the fan and I was more than cool enough. Location of the motel is right in the centre of town, could walk to everywhere I needed to go. Very good value for money and pleased there was a washing machine on site.

Nothing really. The gravel leading up to the room was hard wheeling my very heavy suitcase on, but I managed. My stay was lovely and my room was great. I really have no complaints at all and would happily stay here again. I was very comfortable.

The Terrace is in the center of town so one can walk to restaurants stores etc. The room (we were in an end room) had lots of windows on three sides so it was light and bright despite the rain weather. It was a very spacious room with a separate bedroom, reasonable kitchen space and living room area and a very large bathroom with separate WC The staff were all very nice and helpful

Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a well-equipped kitchenette. Comfortable bed. The location was excellent, being close to shops and restaurants. Conveniently we dined at Alice May Restaurant next door, for which we received a 10% discount as we were staying at The Terrace. Parking was great as we parked our car outside our room. The gentleman at reception was very friendly and helpful with recommendations when we checked in.

Very minor problem - the television was mounted on the wall in an odd position where it was difficult to watch from the sofa or from the bed - not a gamechanger! The temperature of the water from the bathroom vanity taps was not consistent with the designated setting (hot or cold)

Truly loved everything. Such lovely staff, clean large rooms, kitchen facilities and big modern bathrooms. I would 100% stay here again. Great value for money, one of the best night's sleep we've had since travelling.

Really hard to criticise anything but the shower head was a bit stupid and not pleasant to shower in.

Easy check-in, excellent location for walking 2 mins to town center, very nice accommodation and space in Cottage #17, and an incredible view of Franz Josef from our dining room window! A frisbee golf course in town an added plus!

I would suggest at least two more cooking pots with lids and one non scratched skillet with a lid. It would be helpful to have more cooking spatulas in hard rubber rather than stainless steel as well.
