This is our highlight of the southern island trip and we really enjoyed our stay at Holly homestead! Franz Josef weather didn't treat us well however we felt right at home at the place, the service, breakfast and room , facility, views, are better than 5 star hotel we stayed in other cities. It's only a short stroll to the city centre and you will have access to many good restaurants, supermarket, Bernie was so kind to us to offer all the hiking trails, snacks and even did laundry for me after the 6 hours hiking in the rain.. we will definitely want to go back and stay - 100% recommended. Thanks again for having us.

Bernie (and Gerard of course) were excellent hosts. We arrived in absolutely terrible weather where roads had been blocked getting in and out of Franz Josef and Bernie had kept us updated. The room was fabulous- comfortable beds gorgeous bathroom (with heated floor!) and a lovely lounge area. The cooked breakfast was also great to set up the day. I wish we were staying longer and it was by far our nicest accommodation on our travels so far.

I only wish we had seen the surrounding area in the sunshine! Nothing I didn’t like about the property.

Absolutely amazing this place is fantastic! Bernie & Gerard are very lovely, kind and caring. The accomodation is clean and spacious. The location is excellent if you want to enjoy your time in Franz Josef with great hikes around. You have a lot of choice for breakfast which is very delightful. Bernie & Gerard go above and beyond everything with their service. I definitely recommend this on all aspects its by far the best place in Franz Josef

What a fabulous stay we had! The accommodation is top notch in every way. Delightful suite, superb breakfasts, lovely view of the mountains from our room, generous and informative hosts. Bernie is so helpful, and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent suggestions for sightseeing and dining. We will return. Highly recommend

Bernie & Gerard were magnificent hosts! They made every effort to make us feel at home and tend to our needs. Louise and I were most impressed with their highly personal engagement, beautiful home, and are especially grateful for all of their assistance and guidance during our stay. We would be delighted to stay there again should our travels ever take us back through Franz Josef.

Bernie was a lovely hostess. She rushed out to greet us warmly in the parking area even as we arrived. She was a fount of information not only about Franz Josef but the west coast in general which we put to good use. The homestead is especially lovely and is being cared for with love.

Bernie and Gerard were friendly and welcoming. The views to the mountains are amazing. The accommodation was spacious, warm and clean. A beautiful place to stay. We really enjoyed the breakfast and hospitality.
