A beautiful property which is modern and clean. The location is fantastic, very close to Hobbiton, which was why we were in Matamata. The property was well furnished and provided an extremely peaceful and restful stay. You can tell the owners are very proud of their bed and breakfast - they put their personal touch on it and even offered my toddler toys to play with! Very thankful for that. The breakfast was fantastic!!!! The bread and juices were delicious! Thank you Michael and Mia. It was also very nice to have the doggies Hunter and Toby around :)

It would have been perfect 10/10 if the property had a bath tub or spa tub of some sort!

Had everything we needed - lovely little apartment, could easily have spent many comfortable nights there. We enjoyed having a lounge area and access to Netflix. Breakfast spread was very nice - included a mini loaf of homemade bread and what also appeared to be homemade biscuits, which were delicious! Even the products provided in the bathroom were really good quality. We also enjoyed meeting Hunter the friendly dog! The owner Mia was very friendly and seemed happy to help should we have needed it.

The shower did leak a bit, but we felt this did not detract from the otherwise excellent accomodation.

10/10. Lovely little B&B. Only 15 min from Hobbiton. Very clean. Comfy beds. Mia is very responsive. There was homemade bread and other foods. Beautiful and quiet property that looks great at sunrise.

The TV was having some trouble connecting to WiFi but Mia tried to fix it. The technology is probably just outdated, she mentioned she will likely be upgrading it. Not a major issue whatsoever.

The setting was so relaxing, and sitting on the verandah to soak in the atmosphere was perfect. Located a short drive from Hobbiton movie set. Accomodation itself was clean, bright and spacious. Breakfast was unbelievable. Fresh homemade bread, so many spreads, cereal, yoghurt, yummy juice and lots of fruit all in generous proportions. Typical New Zealand hospitality.

Modern and clean room. Very comfortable bed and bedding. All amenities provided (shampoo, conditioner, coffee, milk etc.). The breakfast hamper was excellent with freshly baked bread, condiments, cereals, and fresh fruit. WiFi was OK. We absolutely adored Hunter (the dog).

We weren't aware that the two bookable rooms were located in the same lodge. There were other guests next door throughout our stay so we felt like we couldn't use the outdoor patio (our fault for not reading the description properly). As the lodge is located in a rural setting, there was a loud tractor driving very close by in the evenings, but it stopped by around 10pm. However, neither of these two things would stop us from booking here again!

Mia greeted us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. The unit is beautifully decorated and very cozy and had everything we needed. The continent breakfast she had left us was just beautiful. The accommodation was only a 3 minute drive to town where we had a great pub type meal . We would highly recommend Walnut cottage, particularly to anyone wanting to do the hobbiton tour as it is only an easy 10-15 minute drive away.

Lovely, quiet and relaxing stay and our hostess MIA was amazingly welcoming. Thoughtful touches throughout the residence which was warm and spacious, in a semi rural area. The provided breakfast was comprehensive and the fresh bread- delicious. Ample hot water and great shower which was perfect after a rainy winter tour of Hobbiton, which was about a 12-15 minute drive. Also, the beds were so comforting and comfortable.

We loved the location as it is slightly away from town with lots of space. The suite was more than we expected having more space and all that we could need to stay longer. The beds were very comfortable (nicer than the name brand hotel we are at tonight). Our hosts, Michael and Mia, were very friendly folks and have done a great job making this a lovely spot. They had even put together a packet about the area, how to run the ac/heater thing etc but unfortunately we missed seeing it until we were preparing to check out, we should of looked around better.

Absolutely amazing place! Exceptionally clean and tidy, the set up is so good and great for little ones! Welcomed upon arrival which was lovely! Breakfast brought to us the night before with lovely fresh homemade bread which was so yum!! Perfectly situated for trips to Tauranga, Hamilton, Taupo, Rotorua and Auckland. I highly reccomend staying here! We will 100% be back. We cant wait!!

It would be nice to have some form of separation between the two units on the porch outside. The guests staying in the unit next to us had phone calls directly outside our sliding door which was uncomfortable when we just wanted to have a slow start drinking coffee and admiring the view in our pyjamas
