The location was great, we could leave our car parked at the motel and walk to wherever we needed to go - a 4 square supermarket right next door, and lots of cafes/restaurants and the river walk within 5 minutes. Lovely big king-sized bed, comfortable bedding and the room was light and airy. For a three star motel, we were very happy and it was an excellent price too. Thank you

No sink in the room, meant that previous guests had used the bathroom sink to wash hot dishes and the sink surface was damaged - We left our dishes to be replaced each day and that worked really well for us. The sink does need replacing as it doesn't look very nice.

Uber central location in Raglan, within walking distance from downtown. The room was great, comfy beds, clean bathroom, nice decor and functional kitchen. We liked the outdoor BBQ, spa and free laundry machine.

The double bed is two single beds - not a big deal but you can feel the space. Downtown gets busy on certain nights, which is absolutely fair so you just get used to the noise from the bars. The design of the place is neat, with the building being spaced with the picnic tables and BBQ area at the center of the hotel. However, this means that you can easily see into other people’s rooms and hear noise (we were particularly concerned that our kids might bother other guests) but you just need to close your curtains and shut the patio door, which is relatively soundproof. It’s not a family hotel per se compared to a Holiday park for instance, but the kids liked the spacious BBQ area, the spa and the bunk beds :)

We had the handicapped room tho we did not request it. Ground level with slider to large courtyard area. Great location. short walk to main street and restaurants, beach and grocery store. Office staff very helpful with our requests about golfing.

No sink in the small kitchen area, had to use bathroom sink for coffee water. FYI: there is no public transport in Raglan. No taxis, no Uber, no scooter. No way to get to the surfing beach or golf course. You will need a car.

We considered ourselves very fortunate to get the last booking for the weekend. Everything was warm and comfortable, but when we returned in the evening we learned there was a problem with water heating. Staff worked on until we asked to stop the noise late at night. We were next door. They were most apologetic and obliged. We understood we wouldn't have hot water the next morning. We accepted that and had a cold shower while the other had a sponge bath. When we checked out, the staff offered a refund, which was well beyond our expectation and gladly accepted. I write about this not to complain but to illustrate the efforts of the motel staff to meet customer needs. Truly appreciated. We recommend Sunset Motel. Many, many thanks. Location in the heart of town close to everything you need with small supermarket next door. Spa was good and used. BBQ area good even though didn't use, but would on a longer stay and especially in summer months. Will stay again

No contact with host/owner or reception. Check in all done by text instructions, very impersonal and therefore unable to gain hosts knowledge of area. TV and entertainment limited and extremely poor, even if you were able to cast to the TV would be acceptable from phone or laptop, but should have at least a few Sky sport and movie stations.

Quiet, warm, spacious unit, brilliantly lit by afternoon sun. Comfortable bed and chairs. Excellent lighting with switches conveniently placed. Free WiFi. A treat to have our dirty dishes removed daily and replaced with clean ones. (A service given because ours was a studio unit without a sink. More hygienic than having to use handbasin, as some other motels expect.) Easy access via glass sliding-door to clean paved courtyard with tables & chairs beneath large sun umbrellas. Friendly, efficient staff. Also, easy walking distance to all local amenities, including main street.

Nothing to complain about. It was perfect! We will stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay, nice motel and rooms, great having the kitchen area and balcony, good parking.

We arrived to find another guest in our room, so it took some time for them to resolve this, but it was satisfactorily resolved. Also, a siren went off in the town at 6am, which was really scary, it turned out to be the call for voluntary firefighters, but being Brits we weren't familiar with this, could be useful info to let future guests know about.

Everything was fabulous. Close to town and the beach. Beds comfortable, showers hot and great pressure. Lovely decor. We had a TV issue at the start, but this was fixed in 5 mins. Thanks, Jo, for coming out in the rain. Would definitely stay again. Balcony was lovely to sit outside and have a coffee. Weather wasn't conducive to using BBQ facilities but the area looked lovely. Laundry facilities available.

The Room was clean and tidy. Love the bed HUGE and comfortable (My partner is 6foot plus) we both had plenty of room). Shower was great aswell (As my partners so tall he enjoyed having the ability to stand straight to shower) didn't have to bend down to the shower head. The staff was great in accommodating our late check in. I had left some personal items behind and the staff were amazing in having my belongings return. Much Appreciated.

T.V system is abit out dated. Might be good to upgrade to some smart t.vs

Awesome location, right in town with a little supermarket right next door. Super easy check in and check out. Good car parking. Room is all you need if you’re out and about enjoying Raglan and all it has too offer. Greta value for money.

Could do with a little spruce up in places and spa might need a clean but otherwise all good.
