The coffee and tea selection were good. There was a kettle, toaster, mugs and plates but not a lot of room to use these. There is a sportsbar next door with a good selection of food, otherwise there's nothing else within walking distance. A bottle store is also handy if needed. There is a train station to take you into Wellington for $19 NZ return and you have to pay-in cash with the conductor on the train. The train takes about 20 to 30 minutes and goes along the coast line into Wellington. You could also go further North for further sight-seeing.

We had a meal one evening at the in-house restaurant. The meal was mostly pleasant but the lamb chops available for the cook to use were of very poor quality. Very tough and cheap. The person cooking the food was lovely and did the best for what was available. There were only a few people in the large restaurant area and it was cold. The rooms are comfy but a bit cramped.

Our stay at Totara lodge was really good. Facilities were nice and clean. Staff was great. Good location.

The beds were too soft. I felt that we were sinking in to the bed. Unsure if its something that I am not used to. We were in the duplex which had the upstairs as well. The air con unit was not sufficient to warn the whole place. There was an oil heater also available which did the job. But took sometime to warm the whole unit. There was also really loud party noise that went on till 3am in the morning. Unsure if this was coming from within the lodge or outside. Kept us awake.

Visiting friends and the Trentham location was perfect for us. Especially with the train station literally directly across the road from the motel. We did a day trip into the city. Pleasantly surprised with the spacious high ceiling units with one large queen bed downstairs and 2 queens upstairs on mezzanine floor. TVs on both levels with an incredible array of channel options. Spacious bathroom with very high pressure shower water. A bonus. Nice touch with bathroom accessories, and even dark colored facecloth option if removing makeup. Kitchen facilities small but adequate. Beds very comfy, good range of pillows and the lovely fluffy throws gave a lux touch. The unit was extremely clean and fresh with light, bright decor. Air con worked well and good wifi connection.Private secure parking. Reception staff friendly. Restaurant and bar handy next door. Trentham racecourse minutes away. Had everything we required. Probably one of the best motels we've stayed in for comfort, size and cleanliness. I thought value for money. Would stay there again if in that location.

Great location, directly opposite Trentham train station and race course. Large spacious units. We had a 2 level unit with 2 queen beds & one single. (Very comfy & good range of pillows to choose from). Extremely clean & comfortable. Lovely fresh decor with modern furnishings & drapery. Nice touch with the lush bed throws. Exceptional water pressure in the shower, roomy bathroom with loads of complimentary hair & body products. Good lighting & basin bench space. Superb Sky tv coverage with a multitude of channels available. Plenty of secure parking. Breakfasts available and restaurant/dining next door. Very impressed. Would definitely stay again!!

I booked the room for my elderly mother. She enjoyed her breakfasts (which I wasn't expecting to be provided, so I'm a bit puzzled) She liked the "just renovated" feel of the room and all the little extras. She was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the room and area was. I was very happy with the support from reception staff, expecially when she asked for support with the train when I could not get there in time for checkout.

The room was a little smaller than I was expecting and there didn't seem to be anywhere for mum to hang her coat and handbag. We needed to use the disabled persons park for mum several times and each time, the vehicle in the adjacent park had parked over the DP park. Luckily we were not there for long so it didn't matter that I had to park partway into the path of travel. I had expected the restaurant to be operating, based on the data online.

Was fortunate that a staff member was around when we arrived at 10.45pm. I'd been sent a text with the entry code. The code had numbers and symbols on either side of the code, and I'd never have guessed the actual numbers to use. So, I was very happy she was there to help and show us in. :) Thank you! The shower had decent pressure, beds were comfy, and the room warm when we arrived. Nice bathroom soaps, good selection of drinks. Real milk was hugely appreciated 👏 UHT is awful. So big ups for that! Your greeting card was a sweet touch. The room was better than expected, would stay again and recommend you to anyone looking to stay in the area.

To be expected, in accommodation located next to a bar, there was the thud of bass. Although we were tired and it didn't bother us for long.

I was a little concerned when first arriving with the driveway entrance and reception opp the Super Liquor entrance. But the security gates allayed any safety fears and our rooms were set well back from the pub so no noise.

Its not a didn't like but just something you might consider. The reception area provides guests with first impressions which influences their perception and experience of the lodge. After entering opp SL and the concerns that triggered, the physical area didn't feel very welcoming (the staff were fabulous). I found the area was quite utalitarian and reception desk imposing. At that point I was a little worried about what the rooms would be like. (I'm pleased to say I was completely wrong, they were great). A lite reception makeover to be more in line with the quality of your rooms would change all the not so great first impressions into this is really nice :)

The facilities in the room were good and an initial 'problem' quickly sorted out! The room was a good size with a comfortable seating area & bed. Our room was located in the main building which seemed quite quiet when we stayed. Overall everywhere was clean and the staff helpful. The on-site restaurant was shut, as was the bar opposite as it was a public holiday, but the main town was only about 5 minutes drive away with a good choice of eating places. Car parking was in a gated car park behind the main building, and accessed with a code.

Only a minor gripe, but the used utensils & crockery had to be washed up in the bathroom wash basin! The car park had two 'mobility parking' bays available, but one was difficult to use due to it's location next to the fence & entry gate with a tight turn into it especially when a car was parked in the parking bay next to it. The other 'mobility space' was better located, as it was near the back entrance for guests use, and had no potential obstructions for users.

I have stayed at a few Motels and this one definitely is up there The location was great and close to town where everything i needed was within 5-10mins drive (probably 15mins if I wasn't being lazy to walk) The Receptionist on arrival was very helpful, informative and once i had signed in, i had a code to drive through the gates to my room with parking outside, i loved this was a gated Lodge that provided Pesce of Mind for Visitors vehicles and Property throughout Stay I got this online booking at a great bargain price for 4x Adults, for a last minute booking. This Family Studio was very large, airy with great comfortable beds upstairs in the loft and downstairs. Was immaculately clean, welcoming (i am ocd about hygiene and cleanliness), loved the decor, colors and i was delightfully surprised The bathroom had a super large shower with great massaging pressure, i also love the little soaps, shampoo/ conditioners, sower gel tubes provided (i normally travel with my own though) but its real thoughtful. All towels, hand towels, face cloths provided of course throughout stay. The kitchenette was small but we didn't really use it -but it still. provided everything you need. I always like to drop everything and have a cuppa when i arrive at Motels, this one hard a great selection of teas, coffes, hot chocolates with milk in the fridge and great outdoor seating with partitioned area outside your sliding door to enjoy. They also have a Continental Breakfast service where you fill out a card of what you would like and it is delivered to your room at the time you choose the next morning and for a great additional price per person Our Passengers loved the Bar next door where you can have meals also and don't have to drive anywhere If i was in this area again, i would definitely looked this one up first

Lovely clean, warm room Very comfortable bed Well stocked with tea, coffee, milo & hot choco. Well stocked bathroom items Friendly greeting at reception and a lovely welcome card. Safe parking The Tote meals were awesome. Great server and the colouring book for the moko was greatly appreciated. Great location if you need to travel into Wellington as the train station is straight across the road
