This beautiful seaside accommodation provided everything and more than I expected. I decided to book the first three nights to rest after catching an illness and I ended up spending five nights there because it was so peaceful and homely; it honestly felt like recuperating at my own house. The room was comfy, warm and clean, the toilets spotless and the showers hot and roomy. The kitchen is modern and really well equipped, especially for such a small place. It had everything and beyond of what I needed. The lounge is super cozy and has a great view of the seaside while the garden is a great place to enjoy a meal in the sun. All of the staff were super friendly and the owner kept on checking how I was feeling which I found really nice. Not to mention the value, which is beyond great for what you get, with a great location and comfortable stay. Overall, it is thanks to Moana Lodge that I'm back on the road so quickly and I'll never forget my time there.

Nothing apart from maybe the lack of a freezer in the kitchen (it could be that I just didn't find it haha). The bed can be a bit creaky when there's a person on the top bunk but nothing major.

This stay is perfect. Multiple clean and comfortable toilets and showers. A big kitchen with all you need to cook and enjoy a meal. A dining room with multiple tables for guests. A front room with views of the water. A beautiful outdoor space. Easy laundry and lines to hang items. The bed was comfortable and the sound of the water was amazing to sleep to. The check in was smooth and staff was friendly.

WiFi was strangely better in my room upstairs than in the main front room. However, the wifi was quick!

For shared kitchen and bathrooms, there were enough and ample space for each unit. So it felt like you have your own personal facilities. The staff and guests were all friendly.

Not sure why my devices needed to login to the WiFi each day even though it was with the same password.

Moana Lodge is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. The staff was incredibly welcoming, everything was spotless, and the kitchen was fully equipped. The common areas were cozy and comfortable. My room was also very comfortable. Plus, there’s free street parking. I absolutely loved my stay here. It went beyond my expectations!

Location was perfect, facilities excellent, host were welcoming, friendly and accomodating, everything was just perfect for my myself & grandsons 4 day stay .... ❤️😊 ....will definitely recommend 💯

That we couldn't stay longer

Beautiful hostel, right on the beach, lovely rooms, good showers, good equipped kitchen. Only negative is that there wasn't a fan/air con so we had the window open all night - which was lovely tbh as we could hear the waves. We extended our stay!

Danny the owner was very hospitable and welcoming.We loved our sea view room, very comfortable. The view across the bay from our room was what made it special. Good shower rooms, nice, clean facilities. I Highly recommend this place.

Stayed here before in 2017. We were able to arrive late due to ferry to Wellington being late. It is homely with a wonderful view over bay. The facilities are good altho we had no time to stay and enjoy them.

The seaside as a whole. Waking up to a fabulous view. The friendliness of the owner and staff. The cleanliness of the place. Sitting outside having a beer. And the beach was great. As a whole 5 star.

The kitchen facilities were not as extensive as most motor camps I was at - no pots and pans. ut I think most people travel with their own and few use the facilities. Room was wonderful.
