We got stranded in Wellington due to weather canceled flight. Made a quick on line booking at The Copthorne from the airport. On arrival we were greeted by the charming, helpful front desk team who were fast and efficient in getting our room. The room was immaculate, lovely view of the city. The weather was awful so we decided to stay in house and booked a table at the restaurant. After a lovely shower we felt refreshed and ready to relax. We made our way to the bar and had a lovely relaxing drink in the bar before heading to the restaurant for dinner. Dinner was exceptional! Excellent service and great food from an interesting menu. We had an early start in the morning so head back to our room. The bed was comfortable and the early morning shower hot with good pressure. Then we were out the door and off on our travels again. It was an unexpected stop over in Wellington but we certainly appreciated the Copthorne for making our short unexpected stay so enjoyable.

The weather but hey that's not their fault!

The Copthorne Hotel has a great location, close to the shops, cafes and nightlife of Courtney Place, but peaceful and relaxed. The "Family room" is perfect for sharing with friends, with a small room with twin beds as you enter, opening up to the main bedroom. The room is clean and comfortable, although the decor is beginning to look a little shabby. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the bar on the top floor is a wonderful place to enjoy a drink with a view!

My only complaint is how poorly equipped the minibar facilities are. This is a hotel room, and while I love a room with a small sink (I hate having to fill the jug in the bathroom sink!) I appreciate this is a luxury most hotel rooms don't provide. However, for a room that accommodates 4 people, I would expect 4 glasses/mugs/plates and cutlery as a minimum. If you choose to bring food or beverages back to your room, or to make a hot drink in your room, there should be basic dinnerware provided.

Loved the all of friendly staff who were approachable and clear communicators. LOVE the sea views and close location to the city but not right in the middle of the city. The restaurant was wonderful and busy! The restaurant staff an absolute pleasure. The hotel room was so clean and comfortable, let the cleaners know. Excellent job! Loved the luxury feel of the body wash and hand wash in the bathroom. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

There could be a wee bit of mending done, to make the room feel cared for. For example, the comfy chair in the room was ripped and a floor tile in the bathroom was chipped, worn paint work on the woodwork. There were no teaspoons to make tea and coffee with.

room was comfortable. Staff was quite accommodating when I asked for a quiet room on upper floor. was a bit cold in april so I appreciated the heater . Location was very nice , safe residential area. I did not feel unsafe walking to the hotel late

Water was not provided bit i think not a single 4 star hotel provides water in room. only a 5 star hotel did. I think a basic amenities kit such as ear buds n cotton should be provided. Staff did nt explain anything about availability of gym and pool. I was aware because of the reviews but no mention was made by the staff on check in

The location was central to everything we wanted! with a balcony view of the Harbour & beautiful Wellington weather, we couldn't fault it

We were asked to pay a $50 per night bond as soon as we checked in. The bond was returned at end of our stay which even then was an issue. I complained to booking.com that we were not made aware of this before we paid accommodation in full. Booking.com confirmed there was nothing on Copthorne hotel website saying this was the case ($50 bond per night)! On check out we were assured the bond will be released and back in our account. 3 days later we still had not recommended the bond. Apparently it was a merchant bank issue🤨 At end of the day it's Copthorne who took money from our account, which is not stated on their website and we were short $200 over our weekend and for 3 days after we were home!

The harbour view room was very nice clean etc. Breakfast was not great. Out of two days first day was acceptable although not great but told hot food unavailable after 9.30 am which seemed a bit early. Second day was really poor By 8.45 am selection of cooked food was grim and many things were missing or looked very tired. Very disappointing for a supposedly high end hotel. So far as car parking was concerned. On check out day asked to leave car in car park until 2pm but this was refused. Allowed until 12 noon. Was told although check in not until 2pm many clients arrive early. When I returned to car park at 12 noon it was more or less empty. I just left feeling a lack of care for client which was a shame.

Great location, right on the waterfront. Easy access to the city centre, just a short stroll along the waterfront. Near to lots of Wellington’s attractions. Staff friendly and professional, ready to help with any questions. Room well presented and clean. All the usual amenities provided. The corridor outside my room (814) was very dated and could do with a lick of paint, it didn’t give a good first impression but I was very pleasantly surprised when I went into the room itself. Breakfast was really good. Buffet style, lots of options available.

Great location. Room was quite nice and tidy. Has anything you need for short staying - we only booked for 1 night. The worst thing was parking. Not convenient and the map, we were given, wasn't much help, because we could not see the names of streets. They were covered with a marker)) . And I realized that actually street parking opposite the hotel would be cheaper and more convenient. Great customer service ar the bar. The greatest part was the restaurant. The food was so good. And we were served quickly in a nice manners. We loved it. Restaurant! Yes! Thank you hips guys!. ...We think the place is quite nice. And good for short staying definitely.

Parking

Out of the Wellington hotels I've stayed at this year, I can definitely say the cooked breakfast at the One80 restaurant is very close to, if not the best of all. I greatly appreciated the complimentary access to the Freyberg fitness centre (located just a short distance away from the hotel), and the views of (and proximity to) the Wellington harbour, and Te Papa museum. The wi-fi and Sky TV in the room were working just fine - no issues at all. The bed was very comfortable - neither too firm nor too soft. The in-room safe was also much appreciated, and easy to use.

The room was somewhat hot upon arrival, and I couldn't quite determine the optimal configuration of the air conditioning system.

Certainly a room with a view. Paid a little extra for upgrade but well worth it. Wellington by night is absolutely beautiful and we saw it all. The location is great, a lovely walk around the waterfront to Lambton Quay, restaurant with a view and short walk to a seafront restaurant.

Car parking is tricky, although we paid for parking it was not guaranteed. Arrived back at midnight to discover there were no parking spaces available and had to park in front of the hotel. The hotel did credit us for the inconvenience. Solution is not to move your vehicle unless necessary.
