I read reviews before booking so upgraded to spa bath room as stated tired rooms. Large spa bath clean, great to relax at end of day. Wifi, TV, clean fridge, kettle all good. Comfortable bed, clean white sheets/towels. Staff lovely, offen asked me if I needed anything, , they held my bag before flights.

Entrance to the back section could be more inviting and stairway vacuumed daily. Kitchen not comfortable and nothing to heat food in. I get they have been supplied in past. Carpet needed fixing properly. Upgrade on furniture may work, price is kept low to make it work for all.

It was very cost friendly. I booked a budget room and it was as expected, so giving reduced stars because it looked budget is unfair. As expected it looked a little run down and in need of some maintenance, but it was more than fine for a night. It has an ensuite with a shower that was pleasant and a TV with free Wi-Fi. The bed was comfortable enough and it was so close to the Ferry which was booked for early morning which is convenient. There is off road parking at a cost, but it is not in a garage, it does take the car off the street though. There was good communication with the staff through email and phone calls and they were all helpful. The one issue was trying to determine where the reception was to find the drop box for after hours check in. The directions on how to get into it were thorough, but finding the box took at least 15 minutes. A bit more description as to where the reception is would be helpful as what was initially thought to be it, was not.

The location of the lock box for the keys for after hours check in would benefit more of a description, it took a while to realise the reception area was not where it appeared to be and it did cause some frustration looking for it. Also, where the room is located would also benefit a little more information. It was not easy finding it due to the layout of the motel.

I don't understand why other reviews are giving it a low scoring. There are not many places which offer a comfortable room with own washbasin and shower for $77 on a Saturday night right in the city centre. It was very confortable, was excellent for an overnight stop. The staff were friendly. I would certainly stay there again and would strongly recommend it.

The location to downtown was very good. You are close to many restaurants, the harbor front and museums, the incline trolley which takes you to the Botanic Gardens, and if you are driving and taking your car on the ferry, the ferry terminals are only a few minutes drive away. AND, if you are driving, be sure to pay for a parking place. Parking in Wellington is almost impossible, and the city lots will charge you double what Halswell charges. But be prepared! The driveway is narrow and steep, and if there are "large" cars parked there it is a challenge to get around them. Location and price make this a pretty good choice.

The building is a little dumpy. The carpets are a bit worn. It's a little smelly, like an old building. None of this makes Halswell Lodge a bad place, but it is clearly not 4 stars, but for the price and the location it's more than all right.

Great location for buses, harbour side, nightlight, restaurants, and the Cambridge Hotel where it's happy hour 4-6pm. Bed very comfortable, water preasure good, expected some noise that never happened. Airport bus stop is only a 5 minute walk. Supermarket, 10 minute walk. Booked for 7 nights.

While the units are older style and bathroom and kitchen also older, it was great value. The beds were comfortable, with nice clean fresh linen and presentation, new bedcovers and pillows. The rooms had new curtains and decent carpet. Quiet despite being so close to the CBD.

Tried to communicate with the cleaners to tell them about the shower door needing repair and they were unable to speak any English, as there is no one around in the front desk for the entire time we were there we were unable to notify anyone of this issue.

The location was great! Great room for a group! The bedding was great, especially the extra blanket for each bed!! Loved that we had the big balcony to ourselves. The smart TV! Very accommodating for family to park while heading out for dinner. Thank You we'll definitely stay again.

Not much, just a little extra bits of housekeeping. Afew things needed cleaning, which I did. The freezer compartment could have been defrosted. Possibly an extra mirror outside of the bathroom. And to check kitchenwares are clean 👌

I absolutely loved the shower pressure – it was amazing! The bed was super comfy, making for a great night's sleep. This place is fantastic for a short stay, offering everything needed for a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Off street parking was an extra cost and an inconsiderate patron blocked the tight parking area with his massive ute.

This is the 4th time staying at Halswell Lodge. I come back not just convenience, but because I like it.

Car upholstery cleaner smell... ? First time for this. Mainly in hallway but also stron in room.
