Bay Plaza Hotel has all the necessary conveniences including adjoining rooms. This suited us as we met our adult daughter from Auckland for a few days. The rooms have great views over the city which made it interesting for my husband who spent a couple of days recuperating after surgery at the hotel. It is situated in a very handy location. There is a supermarket is across the road and quality restaurants within a short walk, many of which do take out food. There is a movie theatre down the street and it is a short walk to Te Papa. We enjoyed the nearby market on Sunday morning and took a short stroll around to Oriental Parade one sunny afternoon. The hotel has an easily accessible and reasonably priced car park attached which is great as the city is very easy to explore on foot or by uber. We appreciated being able to extend our stay at short notice without having to change rooms.

I needed to stay an extra night but had to complete a separate booking. However, it was no problem to stay in the same room. That was a huge relief, as I had to juggle a lot in my three-day stay, and moving rooms would have been a hassle. The room was in an older style but had everything I needed. Comfortable bed, powerful shower, a decent selection of toiletries and tea and coffee-making facilities, including a plunger. It was also a very short walk to the bars and eateries in the Courtenay Place precinct, and easy access to public transport.

I wasn't so keen on the radiator heating, but it did the job.

Always a great place to stay in Wellington. Very convenient location and easy to find. Good to have parking on site. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a good size and have a great view over the city and harbour. Opposite the supermarket and very near some great restaurants. Room facilities are all you need. All at a reasonable price. Bay Plaza has been our chosen accommodation in Wellington for over 35 years, as a couple, with young children in tow and with groups of friends. That’s got to be a good indication of customer satisfaction.

Other than the lasagne and phone, not biggies in the scheme of things...Everything actually. Low key oldish hotel but everyone is helpful and friendly. Doesn't matter oldish as long as clean comfortable and staff service with smile. They were all lovely, the staff. Awesome location and parking at back for visitors great!

The vegetarian lasagne I paid $28 for...cold wet night so ordered in instead of going out as close to great food places. Limp looking...said served with kumara fries, got a spattering of potato wedges but salad good. Phone didn't work in the room so rang from my cellphone, no problem but no one thought to see how it might be rectified. Just two things

Great location, we walked most places we wanted to go. Easy parking out the back! All the staff were lovely. The room was nice and spacious, with a comfortable bed, big table, suitcase holder, in the wardrobe was a mini tea station, iron and board and a safe. All details we made the most of.

No fan in the bathroom, even with the windows open it felt and smelt a lil damp. One of the lifts is out of action, so patience was required when going to and from the 9th floor.

The location was perfect, and having a view also made it very nice. Staff check in and check out were welcoming and helpful.

As it was a weekend away treat for grandson, and trying to make sure it did not become too expensive, not having a microwave/crockery/cutlery meant buying alit of meals. Too be fair I also did not check facilities when I made the booking - just had an expectation sorry. Hence only the 1 time going to restaurant for breakfast as it could have gotten very expensive otherwise. The breakfast we did have was good and staff were great.

Great location nice and central, New World Supermarket right over the road and as we stayed on a Saturday night there was a fantastic Sunday Market the next day just over from the Hotel next to Te Papa where my son and I enjoyed a coffee and some breakfast. In our room the decor was quite nice.

Taking into account it is an older hotel, I did feel the bathroom we had was quite restricted for space to freely move around in but it didn't concern us much.

Our room was reasonably spacious and we were on the top floor so we had a great view of the city and the harbour. The hotel is on the edge of the city which is a great base for sightseeing and very close to a lot of restaurants but the hotel restaurant is very good too.

Air conditioning would be an improvement but at least we could open the window. Also, we were in an adjoining room which was not soundproof and we could hear the family in the room next door. Although the bathroom was clean, it was not quite up to our standard but overall a very pleasant stay.

Excellent location, being walking distance to bars, restaurants and wharf. We come into Wellington a lot for a taste of the city life. It's a nice change from our quiet lifestyle living in Levin. Wellington has everything we need in a city visit.

I don't like having to pay for parking. The cost of parking detracts from the price of the accomodation. My wife and I preferred when breakfast was buffet so now we don't bother. How about a loyalty card for regulars.

Incredible hotel with the most exemplary staff. In particular, I would like to commend Sarah who was so kind and really went above and beyond to help me during my stay. She is a real credit to the hotel. The room was luxurious, spotlessly clean and had all the necessary amenities. I found all of the staff to be highly professional and competent in their respective roles. Bed was so comfy and breakfast was delicious. After staying in hostels for weeks, this was a 5* treat. Thank you!
