Great place to stay for a couple days in Wellington! Good breakfast, nice chats with owner John and nice room that has everything you need at a fair price. Location is great, close to Mt Victoria Town Belt and the lookout, also CBD and waterfront with TePapa Museum etc. as well as supermarket is in walkable distance. Free parking with guest parking permit in the resident area is a great plus.

Room maybe a bit thin-walled, but I still had a good sleep as the area is generally quiet. Other than that nothing really, had a great time.

Room was spacious and very comfortable, bathroom well-equipped and spotless (nice hot shower!). Location felt safe and was very peaceful; good for walking access to both Mt. Victoria and the city centre. Host Dinah very kind and welcoming. Simple but tasty breakfast, and really appreciated having generous jug of fresh milk in fridge for tea on arrival. Having access to Sky Sports a bonus for watching Lions test :-)! Would certainly stay again, and recommend.

John was very helpful and accommodated my late arrival, helped me with parking. Continental breakfast was good and John was very helpful there as well. An option for a full English breakfast could have been better as we were travelling in the morning but nothing to complain.

There was not much of a view from the room. However this did not impact much since I was only looking for a place to stay the night during my road trip. As I understood there are some maintenance work going on and things may be better once that work is also done.

We enjoyed our stay at the Richmond Guest House and its location was the key factor as we had come done for the cricket test against Australia and it was only a short walk to the Basin Reserve cricket ground. The Guest House was also conveniently located to Courtenay Place where there were plenty of restaurants although with the sold out cricket test all restaurants were pretty full and the place was alive. The test finished a day early so it meant we had one fullday to ourselves on a cold and wet Wellington day to explore. Shuttle to the guest house from Wellington airport was only $24 for the two of us. As far as the guest house facilities were concerned we had a large double room which was spacious with Sky TV and tea and coffee making facilities and our bed was very comfortable. Only one complaint was the room was very dusty with the walls and bedhead being very dusty and a sweep across these areas would be helpful to people who suffer from asthma and chest complaints. John the proprietor was welcoming and very helpful when we had problems before we arrived with spam hitting the Booking.Com website and us receiving emails that our card was not valid and requesting us to provide details or our accommodation would be void if we did not pay. We immediately phoned John who said that he had had many similar experiences from other customers and told us not to pay until we arrived. John could be quite abrupt in his manner towards people but nowhere near as bad as some of the reviewers have said as we found him very chatty and likeable. Very enjoyable stay.

Room needs a through dusting and vacuum as there was a coating of dust on the walls and behind and on the bedhead. Otherwise perfect for a short stay

The location was so convenient - I was able to walk to the CBD in minutes. I especially liked how quiet the evenings were since it was located on a residential street, away from tons of traffic. Breakfast had an incredible selection of cereals, teas and coffee. John is an incredible host and makes everyone feel so very welcome.

Personally, the bed was way too soft for me. It definitely took me longer than usual to work out the kinks in my back to get my days started. If you prefer a softer bed, this would have been heaven, I’m sure.

Pleasantly surprised with how large the room and bathroom were. Location was up the hill from the wharf/downtown, so we could walk to dinner. Staff met us and showed us around the property. Breakfast was provided which was nice. Decor was quite beautiful.

Parking on the street was a bit stressful if I had thought about that more, but they did have a pass for us. Breakfast did not have any protein options like yogurt or eggs. Be prepared for the hills in the neighborhood if walking a lot.

Very nice and friendly host/owner John. He's always willing to help and have nice conversations. The guest house location is very convenient to the airport and the city center. The room was quite warm during the freezing cold winter days

The bathroom water tapes were 2 different mixers. One for cold water and another separate one for hot water. It'd be way better to replace them with just one modern mixer to adjust the water temperature adequately.

Good location, an easy 15 minute walk down to the waterfront, Te Papa Museum etc. We arrived very late due to delayed ferry but the owner arranged that we could let ourselves in and tiptoe to our room. He also gave us a parking permit so that we could park on the road outside, which was great. Unlike most bland, corporate-looking accommodations, the GH is full of nice furniture and interesting antiques, very colourful. Very comfortable bed and our bathroom looked very new, with an excellent shower. Lots of places to eat nearby and a fantastic old cinema (The Embassy). Good value for money

John, the owner, made us feel very welcome. He had switched the heating on in our room prior to our arrival. He also provided some useful local information. The bathroom was clean and the bed comfortable. Fresh towels were provided each day. Breakfast was simple but satisfying. The location of the hotel was excellent within easy reach of Mount Victoria, the city centre and the seafront.

Room bed bath was excellent. The owner was strange. Does not seem to like people.
