Private toilet area being away from the main lounge area. We loved the good size fridge and stove and cooking equipment. We thought the Hosts were warm and very approachable. We loved having the lamps over the bed

Carparking numbers do not line up with their rooms. Used soap was left in shower trays, which possibly meant the shower wasn't cleaned after previous renter, but it was still fairly clean, so rhis was no biggie. The cleaner may have been distracted, because she forgot to empty the fridge after previous tenant as well, but, our hosts came and tended to it straight away, so this was no biggie either. Hubby mentioned that security stays should be put on the kitchen and toilet windows, as they can easily be pulled wide open for a perpetrator to enter; we were mindful to close them overnight and when going away from the apartment

Alison and Steve the owners are amazing, friendly, caring and go the extra mile. Our stay at Alton was comfortable, homely and clean. Our sky box in the room wasn't working, so Alison and Steve tried all of their ones and ended up spending a couple of hours in our room trying to fix it. If you are ever in Whakatane make Alton Lodge Motel your accommodation, you won't be disappointed. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Alison and Steve for a memorable stay. Great location close to everything Enclosed pool -no sun burn Cleanliness of the room

Wasn't sure if complimentary milk was suppose to be supplied and there were 5 occupants but everything re dishes were sets of 3 other than that it was a pleasant stay Stairs Recycling not knowing where it was to get rid of extra rubbish accumulation And no food disposal - guess that's just a area kind of thing

Our host Pete was a lovely man, he accommodated our late arrival, just his whole mannerism was excellent. After finishing work for the day, packing our gears, organising home help while away, organising our child and on the road for 5 hours was a relief to have the host say it's ok, it's fine see you when you arrive

There was not anything I didn't like.

The Two Bedroom Apartment was spacious with Bedrooms downstairs and a living room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet located upstairs. Loved that our room had a stove and aircon and that the pool was available should we want to take a splash.

The stairs were a steep walk down and no toilet downstairs. Rooms were spacious so I guess that made up for it.

Great value.. especially with the pool

Overall great but Smokers right outside your room.. smoke smell comes straight through your windows as they are not fully sealed.. no designated smokers area should be seperated if possible.. you can't leave door or windows open if smokers are outside Also lights are too dull at night.. especially in kitchen and lounge area.. if those issues can be fixed would give 10 out of 10 score

The staff were absolutely amazing. We had a booking change at short & they were able to accommodate an extra person by providing an extra bed in our room. The room was clean & tidy, & beds were super comfy. I've stayed in few hotels & motels all across NZ & this place has the fastest internet which was a real bonus. The hot water shower pressure was also really good. There's also a lovely pool onsite which the kids enjoyed. Location is very handy, you're walking distance to Pak n Save, restaurants & take away shops. All in all one of the best places we've stayed in NZ. Highly recommended.

Comfortable beds, parking on site, heat pump upstairs, clean room

Walls are not soundproof so could hear neighborsshowing up and down stairs and banging about. It was a bit cold downstairs and lots of condensation on the windows. There was an oil heater however that heated the room okay.

Lovely staff, great room, aircon, oven, small fridge/freezer and tvs both upstairs and downstairs. Shower pressure was great. Use of indoor pool was amazing too 😊 Great family friendly place to stay. Close to takeout, grocery store, 24 hr petrol station & shopping center.

Beds are a little uncomfy, Showers could use an upgrade but besides that amazing!

Alison is amazing! So lovely and inviting. I had the best time in Whakatane and having accommodation that had everything I needed was so convienent especially as I came from overseas. Alton is close to 2 petrol stations, bustops, 3 fast food joints down the other end of the road, and a short jaunt to Pak'n'Save. Central to all and close to the gorge to nip over to Ohope. 100% recommend staying here if you are looking for value for money. There is also an indoor pool so you can let the kids run wild inside without worrying baout them getting scorched by the sun. Nga Mihi/Merci Beaucoup Alison and whanau. I will be back again, hopefully with my Husband this time =)
