The hotel is located in a colonial building, which is a 10 min walk from the centre of Cusco. It has a beautiful courtyard garden with many flowers and plants. Bees and humming birds regularly visit the garden. It's nice to sit in the garden and relax, especially in the morning when it catches the sun. The staff kept the front door locked all the time and opened it for guests, which I appreciated for security reasons as a solo female traveller. The hotel felt safe and was generally quiet. Breakfast is served from 5.30 am, which is good if you are going on an excursion that starts early. Two lovely ladies prepare the breakfast, which had a good selection. I'm vegan, so I had avocado each day, but they prepared fresh omlets to order. Fruit, cerial, yoghurt, toast, jam, cheese, and ham are on offer also. The coffee was exceptional. There is a pharmacy, launderette, and various restaurants with a 2 minute walk. It is staff policy to clean your room each day, which I appreciated. Clean towels were provided daily. My only small criticism would be the lack of English channels on the TV. I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.
More English channels on the TV would have been nice

Hotel is very nice and in a pretty good location with good choices for food around and an easy walk into the main square. Ask for a room at the top, as the bottom rooms are a bit of a pain if you have luggage. Many of the staff were good, but our day trip came early and the hotel called our room to let us know but didn't bother for the other room even though they knew we were both going on the trip. Even told us they called the other room.
Do not use their day trip service. We booked a Humantay Lake trip through the hotel and they were very poor. Said they'd pick us up at 4:30 (I think) but showed up at 4:20 after calling at 4:10 and demanded we leave straight away as they had people waiting.

We had a nice stay here! The room was cosy with a beautiful view of the mountains and city. The bathroom was very basic. We enjoyed the early breakfast which was delicious and the staff were nice. The reception staff - some of them - were very helpful with getting our luggage to the Cusco airport. We appreciate that. Only the first taxi driver was nice and patient when waiting for us to fill in the papers at the baggage claim, but the second driver who took us to the airport to get our luggage was very greedy (he wanted to charge us more and did not understand our situation). Anyway, thanks to those staff who were very nice and helpful!

The Amaru Colonial was the perfect place to stay for our few days in Cusco. It was located just a short walk from the main square in the old, historic section of town. Everything we wanted to see in Cusco was easily walkable from the hotel, yet it was somewhat removed from the craziness that exists around the main square. The rooms were super comfortable, and the breakfast we delicious. We also enjoyed the outside sitting areas that were still within the hotel itself. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and even stored our bags when we went trekking for a few days. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to Cusco.
There was really nothing we did not like. However, I do want to note that the hotel is on a pretty narrow street, so it made for quick taxi drop-offs and pickups. But at the same time, the narrow street cut down on outside traffic, making it quiet and peaceful.

Beautifully appointed room overlooking a gorgeous center courtyard filled with mature and potted flowering plants. (The gardener is as charming as the property!) Impeccable housekeeping. (While enjoying muña tea in the courtyard, we also observed the extraordinarily thorough work of a housekeeper.) All staff are welcoming, cordial and helpful. Quick access to the historic city center/plaza though the narrow uphill walk could be challenging to some travelers. However, this location contributes to exceptionally quiet rooms.
Nothing, except perhaps that we hadn’t planned to stay longer!

My room was quiet with a very comfortable mattress. The heating came on at 7pm and the room stayed heated until about 7am. The breakfast was one of the best I had in my travels with good variety of options for different dietary needs. There is also filtered water and boiling water readily available in the lounge which was really convenient and environmentally friendly. The hotel has a nice vibe to it and relaxing decor.
The wifi connection was very poor and mostly I couldn't access the hotel's wifi. I could however access wifi via my esim.

Very clean room with good facilities (a very good shower!). The hotel itself is colonial style and has picturesque views. The breakfast is excellent and again has fantastic views of Cusco which was an added bonus! The staff are 24/7 and super helpful. The location is great, a minutes walk from San Blas food market (San Blas is a great area for the views, drinks and dinner spots). And 10 minutes from the centre. I’d certainly recommend Amaru to friends and family.

We visited Amaru twice - once in a standard room and in a more expensive room. Both were great sizes and the more expensive one was bigger and had a gorgeous view across Cusco. The breakfast had lots of options (the pancakes were our favourite). The reception staff were all fantastic and we used the laundry service (we dropped it off directly at the shop down the road, and the laundrette returned it to the hotel which was very easy). The location of the hotel was great, near lots of good places to eat and not far from the plaza de armas. The hotel is on a lovely narrow street, but taxis were able to drop us off at the entrance to the hotel.
It was a bit annoying for the door at reception to always need to be buzzed open, but there was always someone there so didn't cause an issue.

Positive points: 1. Flexibility for check-in. 2. It’s possible to leave the luggage at the hotel after check-out.
I would like to highlight three negative points during my stay: 1. The room’s power outlets are not in good condition, as none of them fit properly when we needed to plug in our phones to charge. In addition, there are very few outlets in the room—only two. 2. When I needed to place an order from the hotel’s menu, 30 minutes after placing the order, I was called and informed that only a ham and cheese sandwich was available. 3. The hairdryer stopped working. My wife was using it, and it suddenly stopped functioning.

It is close to the Plaza de Armas, only a 10 minute walk at a leisurely pace. The room was large and kept clean. The shower gets nice and hot. The breakfast was good. All in all, I liked staying here.
The street to get to the hotel can be daunting, especially if you're not yet used to the city, as the sidewalks are very narrow and it is up a hill. It is in an older building that is showing some signs of wear, like a large crack in the floor of the room, but it was easy enough to work around. The heater in my room didn't work, but I packed warm pajamas and was ok with just that. The soundproofing is terrible, so bring ear plugs.
