It was an absolutely quiet location, somewhere hidden in a small dead-end street, with the atmosphere of a house more than of a hotel. The different levels provided a cosy atmosphere. The swimming pool was also nice. You could also park the car on the premises. What we really liked was the flexibility and kindness of the owners. Unfortunately our car broke down, could not be repaired and we were being repatriated. So instead of 2 nights we were forced to stay for a few more nights, and the owners were so kind to accommodate us although we did not know how long we had to stay on. They were prepared to store the car at the hotel until it was to be towed. So thank you for this customer friendly attitude!

We prefer a shower instead of a bath, but that was a minor issue

Beautiful space, with a feel between the old and the modern. Loved the rustic stone walls through out the entire space while having all the modern acomodations. Very clean, and very peaceful and relaxing if you want to get out of the city. The owners are very nice and helful. We loved the space and would come back for sure. Recommend it. Even the two little dogs that greet everybody are nice and friendly 🐕 🐕 😀

Pleasant country location. Very warm welcome. The sisters who own the property were very professional and extremely helpful. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was continental but good and plentiful. Very nice pool.

Air-con didn't work. A large fan was provided so not too uncomfortable. It would have been useful if the restaurant was open for evening meals.

Nice location to rest for a few days. The host is a very nice person. There are few small dogs and cats in the territory (very friendly) The walls are a bit less soundproof that we've expected but good enough (if the neighbors are quiet)

Beautiful location, nice pool, and above all the kindest staffs! Our family, 2 adults and 2 kids really enjoyed the stay.

Air conditioner is out of order. We should stay in the pool all the day.

Loved the location, beautiful setting with great rooms

The tub didn't really have a shower - you would have to hold the showerhead to take a traditional shower, but that was the only fault in the entire stay. 10/10

Emilia Alves was exceptional, the nicest of smiles, concern and attention. It is owners like this that make a stay. The breakfast served was buffet and plentiful with fresh fruit and croissants etc and nothing was too much trouble. The pool just what I needed . I did google for a restaurant in the vicinity but found nothing so we took snacks however there is one nearby Arminda advised so perhaps this could be mentioned.

Our GPS had a little problem finding however that was our concern not the properties.

A real hidden gem, tucked away from the public roads. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice, cozy room, nice hosts. Highly recommend.

The staff at the Rural Alves could not be more helpful or friendly. My car battery died in their garage and while I waited for a mechanic to arrive they cooked me a fine meal of soup, chicken, and rice. I could not be more satisfied with this wonderful inn or the people who operate it. The room even had a jacuzzi in the bathroom!
