Great location, great historic building, nice breakfast

Pool is too crowded and difficult to park, even if they had a parking lot, you can’t reserve it

Excellent location. Spacious and clean rooms. Both swimming pools are great. Breakfast is outstanding. Friendly and helpful staff.

Pool hours. 9 am to 8 pm. Pools should open earlier in the morning. Bathing caps for indoor pool is fine but there were many guests who were swimming in the indoor pool without one. While, I went back to the room to get my bathing cap since the employee informed me that one was needed. Either everyone must wear one or no one. The rule cannot be for some guests and not others.

this is a very elegant hotel, which opened just years ago in what used to be a hospital, located in a religious complex of historic and artistic significance - and rare beauty. The repurposing has been done with taste and intelligence. The hotel has a lot of personality and offers a unique combination of amenities, for instance a historic cloister/internal courtyard but also two modern open air swimming pools and an indoor one.

probably because of the attractive rates, the hotel is very crowded with families of tourists, and the swimming pools are literally assailed by the many children residing at the hotel. the same can be said for the breakfast area, despite its large size. this constant traffic of guests takes a bit away from the experience - but that such refined place can be enjoyed by a wide range of visitors to Braga is certainly a welcome thing

Very nice place in biulding of the old hospital with historical elemets inside. Special atmosphere. Sweeming pool and rest zone. Very comfortable. Also good breakfast. Is situated almost at the heart of Braga.

Small dificulties with parking process. The parking is on the background of the hotel. To park the car one should do a big circle around. During dark time it is problematic to idetify and see the signs and the gate of the hotel parking. I would recomend to improve this detail.

The rooms in the palace side are super nice with tall ceilings, comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. Make sure to stay in one of those. The breakfast was very good and the hotel is beautiful with an amazing courtyard. The location could not be better right in the city center with access to all the pedestrian streets of Braga. Highly recommended.

The pool was somewhat dirty from falling material from all the palm trees surrounding it. Either the filtration system was not working properly or the property was understaffed to clean the pool. A small stain on an otherwise fabulous hotel.

The beautiful location, conveniently in the centre of the city so I could explore on foot and easily visit relatives nearby. The very comfortable, quiet, clean, air-conditioned room. The delicious breakfast served in lovely surroundings. The garden and the swimming pool. Above all, the faultless service: polite, efficient staff - thank you.

Good location in the historic center of Braga. Very nice room, excellent breakfast. The historic building that it’s located in is awesome. Lovely spa and outdoor pools.

There is currently an issue about the hotel parking, due to construction on the square. So hotel customers are asked to park in a private lot somewhere nearby. Directions are given at the desk, but it was very confusing. We were unable to locate the parking. A suggestion would be for the hotel to provide valet parking until the construction zone is cleared up. We chose this hotel in part because parking was available, but it turned out to be quite an inconvenience.

The location and staff here are what standout and make this a fantastic place to stay. Staff were very helpful when we had questions, and went above and beyond (thank you David O.) when we ran into problems with our car rental. The location is in the middle of the most historic parts of Braga. Rooms are very clean, well-kept and nice enough, but the historical building itself is what makes the stay worth it. It was enjoyable wandering around the place and “discovering” this and that nook, corner or room as we stayed there.

The hotel is embedded with a church and was rebuilt upon a medieval hospital. Hence, it's like living in a monastery while walking in the wide area of corridor, courtyard, bar and restaurants. Besides, the backyard swimming pool looks fabulous. The excellent location allows an easy hangout around the beautiful downtown of Braga. The buffet breakfast is very good, but the exceptional is the internal restaurant with an upper level of classic Portuguese cuisines and reasonable price.

I couldn't complain any except that the entrance of hotel is not conspicuous.

This hotel is so unassuming when you first arrive and go through that doors. The reception/ restaurant area was once a monastery and it is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are all spacious and modern and very quiet. There is a small playground for kids, apart from the outdoor pools (adults/kids). The one night we were there, we chose to have dinner at the hotel restaurant which was so well priced, yet fancy and so tasty. Our daughter was never an issue and welcomed everywhere. The breakfast also had a wide selection of french fruits, breads, ham, cheeses, juices and included a chef making omelettes and pancakes. With regards to location, the hotel could not be more central. Literally in the central piazza of Braga. Staff were super helpful in suggesting, best route to see see all attractions, We will most definitely be suggesting this hotel to friends and family and looking out for more Vila Gale hotels.

There is a new hotel being built behind the Vila Gale hotel. This is not something that the hotel can control, and the workers stopped working at around 630pm and started at 730am.
