The best hostel I’ve stayed in so far! This place has such a warm, homey vibe — it immediately feels welcoming. There are plenty of cozy spots to hang out and connect with other travelers. The room I stayed in had three comfortable single beds, was beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. The location is also perfect, just a short walk from both the old town and the beach. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with great tips and local advice. I I also loved the rooftop yoga session — such a unique bonus!. Truly a gem!
being close to the bars, it can get a bit noisy at night. But with earplugs, it’s totally manageable.

All the beds have privacy curtains, small shelf, a light a fan and a power point, it’s the absolute best. The vibe of the hostel is very friendly and very chill, nice common areas, the offer some activities and have some snacks and drinks for sale too. Location is great, just in the old town where all the bars and restaurants are. The staff is amazing, super helpful and friendly and caring of doing a great housekeeping job. 200% recommended
The only reason I didn’t give a 10 is the showers, there’s 4 showers but 2 of those there’s no place to leave your stuff or get change so it’s mostly to wash the sand off of your body. This being said, I only had to wait once for a shower and wasn’t too long so surprisingly it works out well for the hostel.

This was my 5th visit to Lagos & my 2nd stay in Olive Hostel Lagos. The difference between Olive Hostel Lagos & other hostels/hotels/airbnbs is that it actually feels like a home. I came with a very modest itinerary of watching the sunrise every day, going for a morning swim, taking rooftop morning naps, spending the day at the beach & regenerating in the hostel in the evening... recharging in a beautiful place. In Olive Hostel I was able to combine the "vacation" feeling of being away with the comfort of staying at home. Social: the atmosphere of Olive Hostel is lovely & you can usually find someone else on the same wavelength as you; otherwise it is also possible to just keep to oneself if the social batteries need charging. While the hostel has relaxing, harmonious vibes there are plenty of party options a few minutes walk away, should one be in the mood for festivities. Technical : unlike most hostels, there are actually enough bathrooms/showers for everyone; the kitchen has enough storage for groceries and has plenty functional utensils, dishes etc. In fact, this is the only place I ever think to cook. The outdoor patio, the balcony, the rooftop, the living room/reading room all offer plenty of space to relax and chill on slower days, evenings, or during bad weather. Cleanliness: as a clean freak who usually considers everything to be dirty, I can testify that the Olive Hostel ist super clean. I truly appreciate the efforts made in this regard, considering the number of beach/backpacker shoes this place must see. Olive Hostel also offers a laundry service, but if you like doing your own laundry there are 2 laundromats within 1km. Staff & organisation: I found booking/check-in/check-out to be uncomplicated & felt that staff were always motivated to find solutions for individual needs. Everyone is very kind and helpful & wants you to be comfortable.

Absolutely Perfect Stay – Clean, Cozy, and Full of Good Vibes! This hostel was an absolute gem! From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The place is impeccably clean—every corner, every surface, and even the kitchen (which is fully equipped and perfect for cooking your own meals). The decor is super cute and gives off such a warm, welcoming vibe. The people here, both guests and staff, were so friendly and full of good energy. The owners were incredibly flexible and accommodating, making everything smooth and stress-free. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests’ experience. It’s one of those rare places where you don’t just stay—you feel at home. If you’re looking for a cozy, clean, and welcoming place with amazing people, this is it. Can’t wait to come back!

Everything was perfect. The atmosphere in the hostel is something else. You feel like at home. Its clean, the staff is nice. Despite the fact that it is a hostel, you still have pretty a lot of privacy. There is a nice rooftop, patio and sitting room. The hostel is quiet with relaxing music. It was my second stay and it was the same as before - simply 10/10. The bed is comfortable, they added privacy curtain to lower beds which is great. I like that the bathrooms are very private even though there are being shared. You can lock yourself in the bathroom and comfortably take a shower or use the toilet. On Sundays you have opportunity to get a massage from a professionalist at the rooftop in a really good price. I payed 30€ for 1hr massage! The location is great. The staff is nice. I slept in many hostels, in many different countries, but this one is the best so far. I recommend to everyone.

This hostel felt like home the moment I walked in. It’s the perfect size—not too big, not too small—so it’s super easy to meet people without feeling lost. There are just the right number of common areas, so everyone naturally comes together instead of spreading out too much. As a solo traveler, I loved how effortless it was to have conversations and connect with people. The location is unbeatable—right in the center of Lagos, with everything at your doorstep. You can easily walk to the beach, and all the best spots in town are just a few minutes away. It also has everything you’d expect from a really good hostel—lockers, bed curtains, free earplugs—all the essentials that just make your stay smoother. The kitchen is amazing, fully stocked with everything you need to cook, plus free spices and cooking basics, so you can just grab groceries and cook for yourself or a small group with zero hassle. It’s also a natural social hub in the evenings, which makes meeting people effortless. The rooftop terrace is a great spot to hang out, and you can even do yoga on your own with the mats they provide, which was a really nice bonus. And of course, the staff were incredible—super kind, helpful, and just really chill. Some of my favorite moments were bonfire nights in the garden, sitting on the courtyard couches, having deep late-night conversations. If you’re looking for a hostel that feels instantly welcoming, makes it easy to meet great people, and has everything you need, this is the one.
There’s honestly not much to complain about. The water pressure on the first floor is quite low, but it’s fine on the second floor, so if you want a stronger shower, you just have to go upstairs—which is a bit of a hassle but not a huge deal. One small downside in the kitchen is that there’s no electric oven, just a stovetop and a wood-fired oven. It’s still fully stocked for most meals, but if you’re planning to bake or cook something that requires an oven, it’s not really an option. Overall, these are just small things, and none of them really took away from how great the stay was!

My private double room was perfect at Olive hostel. I felt like I had my own house in Lagos! The buildings are separated from each other, so if you want to socialize in the hostel area you can or just chill on your own if you have a private room. My building had a kitchen, shared bathroom and rooftop terrace. It was so charming and beautiful. Felt like a Portuguese villa. I would highly recommend this hostel, it was also in the most perfect location in the old town. Close to everything, Jah surf shop, restaurants and nightlife!

Hostel Oliveira has a really nice atmosfere, with funny and beautiful vintage things, even in the kitchen. It makes you feel at home, everything feels relaxed and free( in a good way). There is a great rooftop area with yoga classes in the morning. The visitors are more adults than youngsters, so people in general, clean up behind themselves and conversations are nice on deeper topics. There is a living room, a place to hang out outside, The location is very centric, you can go everywhere from there, easy. There was a roll down screen on the window of my bedroom to be able to make the room dark and keep streetlights out... The staff are sweethearts, helpfull and loving, taking care is what they love to do..genuinely. They organize sometimes indoors parties, with life music and food. They even borrow you a parasol for the beach..! I was in a room with just three beds, which made it like a home.. They have in the kitchen a box or something like that for communal, free things, where people can put their food they cannot take with them..and others can use this..it s great!! They provide coffee, tea, Olive oil..etc. I really had a wonderful time there.Easy to connect with others..
I missed a place where I can 100% safe leave my passport and real valuables during my stay..with the staff or in a safety box. The neighbors from the opposite hostel can be loud.. It is good to bring earplugs so you keep street noise(there is not so much)out of your dreams. The door from the room I stayed could be made less sounding( for night toilet going in and out of the room).

The place was very cozy and welcoming. The staff made every effort to create a fun space for people to socialize and relax in, organizing dinners, bonfires, games, etc. The outdoor areas (garden and rooftop) were definitely a great addition to the property. The house was decorated with a lot of taste, and the kitchen was well equipped. The hostel is in the heart of the old town and ideally located a stone throw's away from lots of cafés, restaurants, beaches, shops, etc.
I stayed in the 4-person mixed dorm where the beds were very creaky. Whilst the hostel is definitely geared towards leisure travelers, I do not recommend it for digital nomads seeing as there are few calm spaces to work and the wifi was a bit patchy at times. There could be more bathrooms for the number of people in each room. However, these points were minor and I will definitely be back!

Olive Hostel is a true gem, offering warm and welcoming service that makes you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The staff go above and beyond, providing personalized attention that ensures every guest feels valued and cared for. The hostel’s interior is equally inviting, with a unique and personal touch that creates a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Thoughtfully decorated spaces add character to every corner, making it a truly special place to stay. If you’re looking for a hostel with heart and charm, Olive Hostel is the perfect choice.
Honestly there were no negative things about our stay.
