We stayed at Ocean Porto for four nights and were very happy with our experience. The hotel has a heated pool, which our children absolutely loved. Breakfast wasn’t overly lavish, but it had everything you really need and was always satisfying. The staff were without exception super friendly and always helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Another highlight for us was the small shed by the pool where guests can freely use bicycles, skateboards, and even surfboards to explore the area. We thought that was super cool and a really nice touch. The location is very good – just a short walk to the beach, and only two streets away we even found a great massage place where we enjoyed a wonderful thai massage. A couple of small things to note: parking in the garage next door is rather expensive, and if you have a room facing the street, it’s better to keep the windows closed at night since the tram and occasional lively pedestrians in the pedestrian zone can be quite loud. With the windows closed, however, it was no problem for us. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and can warmly recommend Ocean Porto, especially for families with children.

The Tram and parking situation

The location of this cute little boutique hotel is great, only 5mins from Titan beach, which has beautiful sand. There are plenty of restaurants around too. Our room was lovely (and clean) with a seperated section for our child. The pool is small but is also a jacuzzi. The television had English speaking channels which was nice. The biggest plus was the wonderful lady who took care of us, Vânia. She was amazing. So friendly and couldn't do enough for us. She even made us a packed lunch for the airport as we had to leave before breakfast. She really made the stay for us.

Some people, if they're light sleepers or bothered by noise might not appreciate the sound of the trams going right past the front door. (It didn't bother us).

This property has been restored and extended to a high standard providing 9 rooms. We stayed in Room 9 on second floor with a small room with extra bed over looking the 'garden' and its small pool. You need to memorise a code to access the property, but have a secure key to the individual rooms. There are three floors but no lift. Ask for room 1 if you want the ground floor. Run very efficiently, and somewhat remotely by it's owner, Ivo, we had no difficulty arriving after 1900 when 'Reception' ie himself has gone. He gave helpful advice and booked a tour for us as the weather was very windy and wet. He has links that are sent to you to check in and check out remotely. I was a bit doubtful about all this initially , but everything worked very smoothly. The two ladies, who came to prepare breakfast, and tidy the rooms each morning, were very helpful and caring, and booked my taxi to the airport on my morning departure. If you want an excellent breakfast, in a pied a terre, located on a tram route near good restaurants and with relatively easy access to the city centre by tram in about 40 minutes, this is the ideal place for you. If you want room service and a bar, look elsewhere. We can't wait to return.

It's not really a complaint, but I like tomatoes for breakfast. I bought my own in the Mercado in the centre of town. They were stored in the pantry and sliced up for me to enjoy. Bring your own bananas if you are an addict.

We stayed at Ocean Porto - Beach House on our Camino de Santiago: * The entire place felt brand new, everything was in perfect shape * The room was spacious and very clean. * The bathroom was very nice and the shower was TOP NOTCH (as an American, I have lots of opinions about Europeans' showers...) * The staff was efficient and pleasant * The hotel was in the downtown area and quite near the Camino * Breakfast was pretty good!

* Uh, this place is not near the beach, despite what its name might claim * We were on the third floor and there's no elevator. I wouldn't complain about this normally, but having just completed 15 miles of walking I wasn't thrilled to haul myself and my pack up the steps... * This may be unfair because we were there during a massive, cold April thunderstorm, but Matosinhos the town is kind of a dump... Not the hotel's fault, of course, but I would try to find somewhere even slightly more charming if I were doing the Camino Portugues again...

The breakfast was superb! My kind of food and plenty of variety to cater for most tastes. Loved the Jacuzzi pool it was glorious! Thank you for that wonderful experience!

We arrived later because of the train strike so without a kitchen there was no access to hot water which , had gone cold in the jug. We didn’t know how to work the coffee machine so no hot drink after a stressful and tiring journey before bed. Not anyone’s fault but instructions would have been good. We were shown the following morning and the staff were excellent!

Warm swimming-pool with morning sun until around 15:00 (in July). Cozy place, friendly staff, clean, great location (close to Matosinhos beach, close to metro and buses to the city center), they few offer snacks for the afternoon like cake and cookies (very dedicated and customer oriented).

Only that it’s hard to sleep in the morning after the breakfast is open because of the noise of the people, but if you are the first one to go to have breakfast you won’t have this problem. 😄

Everything was great from day one. We did online check-in and got the code for entering the House. Breakfast is included in the price - there is everything you need including coffee machine you can use all day long. (I even asked for plant based milk and got one right away. They left it in the fridge so I could use it for the rest of our stay.) Room was very nice and clean as well as the whole house. We were here for a week and really felt like home. The garden with a pool is very nice for chilling during the day or evening. There are bikes (and e-bikes) you can use which is great option for reaching Porto. You can also use surf boards and suits anytime!

It is quite loud during the night because of the tram passing by. We didn't mind it but bring some ear plugs just it case you need one.

We had stayed before and it was lovely going back to a familiar place. The staff are so friendly and it's really elegant but still homely.

It's a little bit on the pricey side for me but great value compared to many places of this standard. They had been having some issues with the pool so it wasn't as warm as it had been last year. When it's heated it's such a lovely place to spend the day chilling.

Short stay, however, would stay again if we were heading to the beach. Plenty of restaurants, beach within walking distance. Room was nice, room was comfortable, has a/c which we used. We found parking without too much of an issue, but we were off season. We did not use the swimming pool, but on a longer stay we would have.

Nothing, we parked on the street around the corner from hotel, checked in and explored.

**Staff makes all the good :). Thank you for your openess and kindness! **We didn't use, but there were warm pool, sport activities incl. bikes, swimming costumes for surfing, surfing things etc. We will definitely use it during the summer :). **Breakfast - good, just enough for the morning.

**Couldn't figure out about the air conditioner at night and when I needed it there were no personal. Maybe some extra instructions would help for persons who will need it :).
