This was quite a surprise: when I booked the hotel, the photos did not capture the entire size of the property and the location and views. Staff in the front were all so helpful. Room was impeccably clean and perfectly cozy for me. It was very hot outside so really appreciated the AC! The location is so beautiful and the views are amazing. I have already recommended it to several friends. The infinity pool area so well maintained and that view! This property is perfect for so many occasions - birthdays, anniversaries, etc. We were just visiting before we attended a conference in Lisbon. All of us were so amazed at this property! I only wish we could have stayed longer.

The only minor thing was the service during the breakfasts. They were not unusually busy but they were not attentive without me having to wave them over. That said, I concluded that it was also that I was in Portugal, and the culture is not so pressured and hassled looking as American servers! Haha. I tried to relax and go with the staff's pace. I was there to relax anyway. Food was very good quality.

The Ventozelo is a vineyard with a speadout hotel comprising multiple structures amongst immaculate vineyards. It includes different type rooms, a large dining building, an infinity pool and a museum. It also includes hiking trails amongst the vinyards. The views from the hotel are spectacular, the Doro valley, foliage, mountains and river are at your fingertips and if it weren't for the 38 degrees we would have sat for hours enjoying the scenery. I recommend not skipping the museum which takes you on a trip of 500 years of family wine production. We booked a boat trip up and down the Doro river which picked us from the hotel dock where you can grab a dip in the river. The room we took was functional, clean with a comfortable bed. They should have added extra bathroom lighting. Having breakfast or dinner in their restaurant setting is both a delicious and unique experience. The staff was exceptional. Helpful, smiling while accomodating all our needs.

What makes Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta so special and truly worth a visit is its unique location among the vineyards, offering a spectacular view of the Douro River. We’ve driven extensively throughout the Douro Valley for 5 days, and we believe this must be one of the most breathtaking locations in the entire region. Please see my attached photos — I’m confident you’ll agree. Our room (number 16) was relatively small but had an intimate atmosphere and included everything one needs for a comfortable stay. From the room, we had a beautiful view over the Douro River. Since our room was located at the end of the building, we also had access to a relatively large grassy area outside where we could sit and enjoy the scenery. The air conditioning worked very well. The hotel features a lovely outdoor pool with a stunning view of the river and the boats passing by. Guests can also enjoy walks among the vineyards on the extensive property owned by the hotel. One of the highlights of our stay was a wine tasting session led by a highly knowledgeable host who shared fascinating insights about the grape harvesting process and life on the estate. Ventozelo is one of the largest wineproducers in the Douro region. Breakfast exceeded all our expectations. You can order from a menu that should satisfy most preferences — a wonderful way to start the day! We also had both lunch and dinner at the hotel, and the dishes felt homemade and were beautifully presented. The prices were reasonable. The restaurant itself is charmingly located, offering a fantastic view over the valley. The service at this hotel is professional. Not everyone spoke perfect English, but all staff were very eager to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The free Wi-Fi worked well with decent capacity both in the room and common areas. Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta may not be the cheapest accommodation in the Douro Valley, but I believe it offers value for money.

We did miss having a sun umbrella to provide shade during the hot hours. We also would have appreciated a small refrigerator in the room to keep drinking water cold.

Absolutely amazing hotel and area. We arrived to the friendly staff welcoming us. And quickly got our rooms and settled to enjoy a glass of wine and the stunning view. The hotel and property offer different experience e.g., wine tasting with local wines as well as to do both smaller and longer walks in the area, between the vineyards, olive and orange trees, and by the river. So stunning and restaurant is amazing too. We were given great recommendations on both food and wines by the competent and dedicated personnel.

We had the most wonderful time staying at Ventozelo just before Christmas, the property is outstandingly beautiful, and the surrounding topography is equally stunning, with many lovely walks to take around the site. We loved all the citrus trees being in full bloom and greatly admired the meticulously cared for vegetable gardens that sit at the heart of the property. All the homegrown food is served in their fabulous restaurant, the food was simply exceptional. Our room was very comfortable, sparkling clean and had everything we needed. For us the absolute highlight of our stay was the very talented, and yet very down to earth, sommeliers Jamie and Marcos. They went above and beyond to make us feel exceptionally well taken care of, sharing the amazing array of wines and ports that Ventozelo has to offer as well as the wonderful stories and details of how they were made - a huge thanks goes to them, as well as all of the team that made us feel so at home. We will endeavour to make our way back here again some day!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for part of our honeymoon and can't get over how beautiful the property is. We arrived on a sunny afternoon and were immediately blown away. It felt like we were walking around a postcard. Once we checked in, we never left the property for the remainder of our time in the Douro Valley. There is so much to explore and do and excellent wine to taste. Perhaps the most incredible part of our stay was the food. Everything is fresh and either grown on site or traded with neighboring farms. We haven't stopped talking about the breakfast croissants made with port wine syrup or the caramelized apple pancakes. When the rain rolled through, we played cards and read in one of the common areas that still allowed us to enjoy the spectacular views. We can't recommend this hotel and quinta enough. It was one of our best getaways yet!

The only downside was that you could easily hear other guests in the hallway and the opening and closing of their room doors, cabinets, etc. This is certainly not enough of a complaint to keep us from coming back to this fantastic hotel!

As a solo traveller I really enjoyed my 3 nights stay. The staff at the reception was helpful. Thanks to Manuel for the port wine tasting! I highly recommend booking the boat tour! Comfortable rooms. Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta was in the most perfect location for us. Having a car to access the surrounding area was important for us to enjoy the area. The accommodation was extremely comfortable with comfortable beds and great linens. Breakfast was amazing with a great selection served by amazing staff. We came for the wine and the views, both of these were outstanding! Also, check out time being 12:00 was an absolute bonus.

A small thing but important, please provide cups in the room for coffee. Glass without handles is not safe! Also, I couldn’t reach the coffee maker in the room as the shelf was too high.

I also loved the little touches, like the greeting wine bottle waiting for me upon arrival. The hotel's facilities were top-notch as well. The on-site restaurant served delicious meals with a wide variety of options, and the service was impeccable. I also enjoyed relaxing at the pool and walking around the vast property that extends to the river shore. Overall, my stay at Quinta de Ventozelo was nothing short of perfect. The outstanding service, luxurious accommodations, and genuinely caring staff made it an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived and drove down the winding driveway, our stay at Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta was nothing short of exceptional. The customer service at reception, pool, and restaurant was impeccable, with staff always eager to assist. The facilities were spotless and well-maintained, and the views were simply spectacular. The food and beverages were phenomenal, enhancing our experience even further. A particular highlight was the pool, which featured an active bar and offered breathtaking views across the valley and river. Our only regret is not booking a longer stay.
