The hotel is in an old-fashioned town house and has very few rooms, so it felt as if we were the personal house guests of Clara the manager. She could not have been nicer or more helpful. The hotel is attractive and comfortable, with a superb swimming pool, and is beautifully placed for accessing the beach and the facilities of the small town. There are only a handful of restaurants so you may need to book ahead at busy times, but the food was very good, especially the fish. It's a quirky place to stay but we really enjoyed ourselves.

We were disconcerted to find that the gates were locked when we first arrived (mid-afternoon), and there was no apparent doorbell. Luckily we had the phone number and spoke to Clara the manager, who was able to let us in, and from then on we had no access problems. We recommend that the hotel advises all guests to telephone in advance of arrival, to ensure easy access to the hotel. Only limited English is spoken in the resort, including by Clara herself, so some Portuguese language (or a good translator) is pretty much essential- however, we positively liked learning how to ask for what we needed, and our stumbling attempts at Portuguese were well received.

Absolutely stunning building, rooms and swimming pool. Everything was clean and immaculate and smelt beautiful. The breakfast was a lovely surprise as it wasn't mentioned anywhere that it was included in the price. Lovely bakery products, cakes, cheese, meats and yogurts as well as drinks. The lady running the place was so nice, couldn't do enough for us. We wouldn't hesitate to come back ☺️

Nothing really not to like, we all enjoyed our stay. The weather was very foggy for a few days which meant the pool felt cold but that's no fault of the accommodation.

Amazing property - a bit in need of TLC, but that’s the charm. Staff super helpful. We stayed beginning of April, so low season. No idea what it is in high season (the whole of that area, Gaia, is quite busy I understand). We were blessed with perfect weather. Location is brilliant to access the beach and its endless plank walk. And anyway, Uber works amazing (@april 25), to go anywhere at very reasonable cost and impeccable service. Highly recommended place.

Characterful summer house ser in attractive garden with pool 5 minutes from the beach. Friendly, helpful service greeting you. Elegant light filled bedroom with small balcony looking out to sea view. Powerful walk-in shower. Tasty buffet breakfast included in price including freshly squeezed orange juice, typical pastries, cheese, ham, yogurt. We ate out on the terrace overlooking the large pool. The Agudo beach is Sandy and good for swimming and the walkway route over the dunes worth taking. We had a great meal at fresh fish restaurant Zizis on the front in the village of Arcozelo. Best fish stew and calamares..a fabulous stopover!

The coffee machine got jammed but the staff quickly produced another one. Quite difficult to get hold of the staff at times but always charming and helpful when we got them. The bathroom and bedroom could benefit from some hooks to hang up towels, coats etc. But small things.. overall a great stay

We liked the property, the rooms were very bright and comfortable. Great facilities and common areas. The host is amazing - very welcoming and doing their best for the guests to enjoy their stay. Thank you! :) The beach and restaurants are 5 min walking from the property.

Beautiful property and the room was extremely comfortable

We never saw another person during our 3 day stay and only saw the manager at breakfast. Breakfast was offered at 9 or 10, but we had activities which started earlier and so we were only able to enjoy the very nice breakfast once out of the three days.

Breakfast was excellent, and great to be on the balcony overlooking pool and sea. Room was very comfortable Pool good, with quiet area for lounging 5 minute walk to Aguda train station and 20 minutes from there into Porto, which is a wonderful city. And in a different direction - 5 minutes to the beachfront, the sea on the harbour wall is amazing

Booking.com was strange on this. We booked the room, then when we got the confirmation email it stated "do you want to upgrade to a room with ensuite. This threw us somewhat. So we cancelled the booking! I rang the hotel and they confirmed there is ensuite, so we booked again, confirmation email stated the same. But all the rooms are ensuite. I hope someone at booking.com reads this and sorts it!

The manager went out of her way to accommodate. We arrived late. She checked us in and helped carry our suit cases to our rooms. She then gave us a ride to a restaurant that was close. The train into Porto was near us . Train cost to Porto 8:35 euros.

We liked everything! Such a beautiful old estate with lots of history in every part of it! The rooms are filled with gorgeous old fashioned furniture, the vintage feeling is everywhere. The bed covers in grey waffle cotton were so beautiful. The tasty breakfast outside with a superbly cute pool view was unforgettable!

Staff ladies do not speak English only Portuguese, so be sure to know how to use Google translator😉

Super place. Staff were super lovely. Rooms are spacious, all with a film theme. Close to the beach and the fishing village, which has some great spots to eat and drink. Train station 5 minutes walk to get you into Porto, or to head south. Great walks b6 the beach.
